In this session, we will be discussing the new Shopify Connect app that Microsoft has recently released in version 201. This app was delayed by Microsoft and is currently only available in the SAS version of Business Central, not as an on-prem extension. We will explore the setup process and synchronization of products, customers, and payouts between Business Central and Shopify. Here are some key points to note:
- You can associate multiple shops in Shopify with a single company in Business Central.
- You can partition off your stock and use a specific location in Business Central to show your available inventory in Shopify.
- You can choose which payment and shipping methods to use and map them between the two systems.
- You can synchronize products, product images, inventory, customers, and payouts between the two systems on a timed schedule.
- Shopify automatically carries out a risk assessment on any order it receives, and this information is passed down to Business Central.
During our demonstration, we created a dummy Shopify store and placed an order as a guest. This triggered a synchronization process in Business Central, which created an intermediary stage for the order. We then processed the order in Business Central, adding shipping information and marking it as shipped and invoiced. This triggered another synchronization process, which updated the order status in Shopify and sent out confirmation and shipping emails automatically.
