Hey guys, I recently did a poll on my YouTube channel asking what my next video topic should be and the most voted for topic was Shopify 2.0. Today, I want to talk about page templates, which is a new feature of Shopify 2.0 that many people aren't using yet. It's a really underrated feature and it can really be quite powerful.

One of the most common questions that I get on my channel when I talk about adding a specific feature to a product page is how can I add this to one product but not to another product? For example, how can I add a feature to one product page without affecting the rest of the products on my store?

A good example of this is adding a gift message field to a product. This feature may only be applicable to certain products that have some kind of note attached to them or may be customizable. In this case, you can easily use page templates in Shopify 2.0 to add this feature to one product but not another.

Another good use of page templates is to make a completely different design for different product pages. For example, you may have flagship products that you want to talk about their features in more detail. Allbirds is a great example of this. They have different product page templates for their shoes and their beanies.

You can also use page templates on your regular static pages like your about page or team page. Allbirds has a page called Our Story which uses a big image banner with a video background. They also use regular sections to highlight their company's mission and values.

To create your own page templates in Shopify 2.0, you first need to duplicate an existing template or create a new one. You can then add sections and customize the design of the page. Once you've created your template, you can assign it to specific products or collections.

It's important to be conscious of what kind of content you're putting on each template because if you want to use the same template for different products, the content needs to be applicable to all of them. If not, you may need to create a different template or use meta fields.

In conclusion, page templates are a powerful feature in Shopify 2.0 that allows you to customize the design and content of your product and static pages. With page templates, you can add specific features to certain products, create different designs for flagship products, and make your pages more visually appealing to potential customers.
