Shopify vs BigCommerce (2022) - Which Ecommerce Platform Is Best?

hey everyone it's tom here with bunny, media hope you're all having a fantastik, day today so you're planning to start an,ecommerce business and you're wondering, should you sell on shopify or,bigcommerce now both platforms are, massive players in e-commerce but while, both platforms are awesome they're both, very very different from one another so,it's important to know these differences,so you can make the right choice for, your business so in this video we're,covering the main features of both, shopify and bigcommerce the pros and, cons of each platform and how to,ultimately choose what's right for your, online business specifically we're,covering how much control store owners, have pricing integration and apps and,the blocking capabilities of these two, ecommerce platforms let's dive in all, right so the first factor we're going to,look at between shopify and bigcommerce,is how much control store owners have, and when it comes to picking the right, ecommerce platform control is actually a,very important thing to consider because, you want to make sure that the platform, you're on has enough flexibility to do,what you want it to do it's also, important to think about how much design, control you have because the last thing, you want to do is start your online, business and then find out three or six, months down the line you're kind of,boxed in and you have to switch to a new, platform so that said the good news is,that both shopify and bigcommerce are, pretty good when it comes to giving, store owners more control over the look, and feel of their stores so with shopify, you can choose from hundreds of free or,paid themes you know do your own custom, coding or even hire developers to make a,custom shopify store for you and what's,nice is that even beginner shopify, stores give you control so you can edit, how your store looks edit your shopping, cart add things like coupon codes and,all that stuff so it does leave you with,a lot of control out of the box, bigcommerce is also very similar and, between the range of free things you, have and the premium themes you can, pretty much make your online store look, how you want it to look and make sure, everything matches your brand now it's,honestly a little hard to pick a winner, between bigcommerce versus shopify here,in terms of control because both, platforms are very beginner friendly and, quite flexible now i will say that i,prefer shopify's free themes a little, bit to bigcommerce's free themes and, shopify just has more themes overall so,it gets a slight edge there but overall, this really isn't that much of a,differentiating factor and you can, definitely find mobile robust you know, very visually appealing themes with both, bigcommerce and shopify all right so the, second factor we're going to look at in,the shopify versus big commerce debate,is pricing and out of the gate it might, look like shopify and big commerce have, pretty much identikal pricing but it's,actually an area where these two, platforms differ quite substantially so,with shopify you're going to have to pay,for monthly plans to launch your own, store and this starts at 29 per month, and this is honestly what a lot of,beginner e-commerce stores or you know, anyone testing out shopify is going to,want to go with and this 29 plan is,actually quite robust and unlocks most,of what shopify has to offer now you can,add your own domain name you get an ssl, certificate you can tweak your theme, kind of edit your shopping cart a little, bit create coupon codes and do all of,that fun stuff you can also accept, multiple currencies and different, payment methods so for 29 a month, shopify definitely lets you get a,complete store up and running now in,terms of payment processing fees this is,where shopify starts to get a little bit, expensive for some store owners so you, basically have to opt into shopify, payments unless you wanna get, annihilated by fees and this usually, means you're paying about one to two, percent in payment processing fees fees, can even get as high as 2.9 plus a 30,cent transaction fee so overall shopify, definitely has some kind of steep, transaction fees you need to think about, some shopify plans get discounts on,transaction fees but again beginner, store owners expect to spend between one,and three percent every time you make a,sale in fees now in terms of big, commerce pricing is actually one area, where we think bigcommerce is superior,to shopify so bigcommerce pretty much, has identikal monthly plans to shopify, and again you're gonna be spending about, twenty nine dollars per month as a,beginner store owner but big commerce, doesn't charge you with these additional, payment processing fees in fact, bigcommerce actually lets you use over,50 different payment processing partners,so you can choose the payment processing, method you like add that to your store, and you're off to the races now these, payment processors can and will still, charge fees and bigcommerce does charge, fees for things like credit cards that, you might accept for debit cards so fees, are still a part of the platform but is,definitely gonna be lower than shopify,in most cases now one slight downside of,bigcommerce here in its monthly plans is,that it caps how much revenue you can, make per year so once you make more than,50 000 per year you have to upgrade from, that beginner plan but again for a lot,of beginner store owners or e-commerce,operations this probably isn't that big,of a deal so bigcommerce also has a lot, more functionality out of the box in,shopify so you're going to be spending, less in third-party apps which we'll,cover later in this video but the bottom, line is bigcommerce better on fees, you're not spending as much on apps and, overall it should be more affordable, than shopify all right so i just, mentioned integrations and third-party,apps so the third factor we're going to,look at in the shopify versus, bigcommerce debate is how many, integrations and apps are available and,if they're actually useful so one of the, advantages of using shopify over other, ecommerce platforms is just how robust, and you know in-depth its app store is i,mean if you've seen our video on etsy, versus shopify you know how good shopify,is and how it kind of blows the, competition out of the water when it,comes to these third-party integrations,so the shopify app store has literally, thousands and thousands of apps you can, download to help serve different, functions for your online store and this, includes apps for categories like store, design marketing sourcing and selling, products upselling memberships and, customer service in a nutshell if,there's some specific function or,service you need to add to your website, there's a really good chance you can, find a shopify app that lets you do,exactly that but the one massive, downside of the shopify app store is,that a lot of these apps don't just, charge you one time they actually charge, you on a recurring monthly basis and so,what this inevitably means is that as,you add more apps to your store to,improve different aspects and, functionalities you're spending more and, more every single month and that bill, never gets smaller once again this is,kind of why big commerce stores tend to,be a little bit cheaper you get more, functionality out of the box so you, probably need fewer apps and so you're,paying less per month in fees so i used,to work with shopify stores when i work,in paid media and ad buying and honestly,a lot of the stores had like three four, five six or even more paid apps running, per month so you're at least looking at,100 to 200 a lot of the time or even, more in these added costs especially as,your store scales now this is still, handy because if you encounter a,stumbling block with your shopify store, and you just need a third-party app to,solve it you're not very tiky and you, don't want to solve the problem yourself, the app store is again very useful but, just know a lot of the time it is paid,to play on top of that shopify's app, store is pretty much the largest out, there and it's larger than

Best Ecommerce Platform for 2023 - Shopify vs WooCommerce vs BigCommerce

this video is a complete guide for, choosing between Shopify woocommerce and,Bigcommerce as the platform for your,e-commerce business we'll compare these, platforms across five main factors the, first factor is usability which refers,to how easy it is to set up a store, design it and manage it number two is,security where we judge how safe you are, from hackers at malware and how good the, customer support is number three is,functionality where we'll discuss core,e-commerce features such as payments, refunds shipping and how good the, plugins and Integrations are number four,is customer experience or simply put how, fast can your store load and overall, which platform helps convert more, customers and number five is price where,we'll judge each platform's cost and, find out which one is suited for your, business so first let's begin with, discussing usability Shopify is the, easiest to set up but has few, customization options big Corpus is the, second easiest to set up has some, customizations while woocommerce takes,up extra time to set up but gives you a,base on which you can build any kind of,story award for example if you wanted to,add a music player you can go to any one,of these free sites and fight the code, snippet which is lines of code and then, just copy paste it to your site to get,the desired effect so for people who, aren't afraid of a small learning curve, woocommerce has a lot of design and, customization opportunity but for people, that are beginners and want something, great I'd say Shopify is the better, choice because it may only have four, thieves but they are quite beautiful and, designed in a way that you can get the, best bag for your buck without much, effort one big difference between these, two and Shopify is that Shopify does it,need you to perform regular updates, updates can sometimes break sites if,there's code conflicts between different, plugins so that's one less headache with,Shopify you can get a good backup packet, and you won't have to worry about, updates hobby your site again there's a,few good ones at the market but our, plugin block work is the only one with, unlimited real-time backups so you can, just turn on automatik updates and, forget about it let's not tok about the, next big factor which is security there, are three main things you need to worry, about when it comes to online security, number one is the SSL certificate it,comes free with Shopify and with big,Commerce it comes as an add-on with, woocommerce it depends on the web host, that you pick some like cloudways give,it for free and in others you'll have to,buy and install it yourself number two, malware attacks here's the top security, plugins for Shopify, woocommerce we recommend using our, plugin because it's Advanced firewall, keeps out 99 malware and while other, plugins take hours to remove malware you,can remove it instantly with a click in,back here bigcommer's security comes, free with your subscription and if your, site does get infected you can reach out,to their customer support to get it,removed woocommerce and Shopify are, potentially safer because the security,is in your control and you can install a,good security plugin number three is,customer support all three platforms, have 24 7 support though there are some, varying reports about how effective each,of them are I'll throw up some common, reviews and ratings on the screen so you,can decide for yourself, next let's tok about the third big, factor the features and functionalities,of each platform big cobbers or,woocommerce don't have built-in payment, gateways you'll have to use a plugin as,that takes a transaction fee Shopify on,the other hand has a built-in payment, gateway called Shopify payments there, are no transaction fees but it does have, your typical card payment processing fee, which varies depending on the Shopify, plan that you choose in terms of refunds, big covers and Shopify let you initiate,it within the dashboard but with, woocommerce you'll have to use the, payment plugins dashboard for this, another important feature is how each, platform deals with customers that added, items to a cart but did check out,Bigcommerce has a built-in abandoned, cart recovery tool that sends emails to,customers about their abandoned cards, which is definitely a helpful feature to,have Shopify takes us one step forward,by not only adding an email but also, sending a link so they don't have to,enter the details again woocommerce, doesn't have this feature by default so,you'll have to use bail chip or send it,blue which again has a slight learning, curve next all three are saved when it,comes to international shipping lastly, let's discuss how good the plugins and,Integrations are on each platform, woocommerce has a big lead here because,it has 75 000 plugins and extensions, because it's an open source platform, everything is much more customizable, than any other platform ecobus also has, some amazing plugins but they are far, fewer and less custom advisable that, woocommerce Shopify is at the end of the, pack with only about 3200 apps to choose, from so if you have a dedicated website, manager or you can take out some hours, every week to manage the platform, woocommerce is the better option Factor, number four is customer experience, generally big Commerce and xiaomi 5 can,be much faster than woocommerce because, woocommerce sites can become really, heavy if you add a lot of themes and, plugins to it however this can be easily, fixed if you use a free split plugin, such as Air Lift which can make your, site three times faster I leave links, for all the plugins are bad stik in the, description below let's discuss which, platform helps in converting more, customers I'd give woocommerce a lead, here because there's just much more, opportunity to fight you the customer, experience especially as your customer, base grows for instance if your, customers respond well to a partikular, style of checkout page you can get that, out of woocommerce while Bigcommerce or,Shopify may not have that plugin so if,you are even a little bit tik savvy the,sky is the limit to what you can achieve, with woocommerce however if you are a,small store and what a quick site that,is recommend shopping because it's,cheaper than Bigcommerce and still gets, job done really well this brings us to,our last factor which is comparing the, prices of each platform big cobbers is,the most expensive option here with the, most popular plan being 864 dollars if,you pay annually there are some good,built-in features here but if your sales, exceed a hundred and eighty thousand, dollars per year you'll automatikally be,upgraded to the next plan which is,3240 per year that's almost a four times, double price and only a couple of new, features are unlocked here which can be,a turn off for most entrepreneurs moving,on the most basic Shopify plan is 168,dollars a year or 40 dollars a month and,has a handful of features there's no,automatik upgrading here based on sales,so that's a relief lastly woocommerce is,half the cost of Shopify to set up a,basic hosting from GoDaddy can cost as,little as 60 a year and a simple.com,domain which can cost around 10 a year, which brings a total to seventy dollars, now if you want better quality hosting, such as from cloudbase or your domain is,in high demand the price can go up so,it's a bit subjective so in terms of,price woocubus wins on the surface level, but the deeper question to ask is which, platform's pricing is the best for a,growing business overall I think the big, pros of woocommerce is that it's very, cheap to set up the customization, potential is endless and the plug-in,ecosystem is high in quality and, quantity the main con is that it,requires effort so this is best for a,business that can spare the hours needed,to actually get the most from the, platform or a business that's going to,grow very fast and will lead extra, functionality the main pros of Shopify, are that it's a great option for anyone, who wants to hit the ground running the, subscription cost is quite Justified for, what they offer and the

shopify versus big commerce hi guys in,this video we're going to be taking a,look at shopify versus bigcommerce and,we're going to be going over all of the, features and tools that these two, websites provide so that we can, determine which one is most suitable for,you but before i move on with the video,i would like to say that please click on,the link in the description below so,that you guys can sign up onto shopify, and get a free trial so having said that,we will now move on with the video,so first i'm gonna go over to shopify, and then i'm gonna go over to big, commerce and then i'm gonna go over all,of the tools and features that they both, have so first up shopify so when you, sign up onto shopify when you log in,this is how it is going to look like, this is going to be your dashboard and,in front of you you have three options,so first one is called add product and, then the second one is called customize, theme and then the final one is add, domain basically over here if you have a,domain you can go ahead and add one,it'll make you look more professional, and it will also help customers to find, your online store much much faster and, customizing themes basically what that, means is that you can customize your, online store depending upon your brand,so,you can change the colors and themes and, fonts and stuff like that and then, finally we have add products i'm going,to show you how you can add products, later on in the video so make sure you, don't skip any parts of the video and, then over here on the left side we have, couple of different tools we have orders,we have products customers analytiks, marketing discount and apps now as the, name suggests these all tools do exactly, what their name suggests so in orders,we'll be able to you know organize, orders and accept payments from, customers and then in products you'll be,able to manage different products and,add new products and then in customers, you will be able to manage different, customers their, information and you can also view their, purchase history and then in analytiks, you have all of the reports of your shop,so you have total sales online store, sessions returning customers online, conversion rate average order value and, many many more and then you have, marketing and in marketing you'll be,able to you know promote your shop on,different platforms so all you have to,do is start up a campaign now this is a,campaign that i started so as you can,see uh i was promoting my shop on,snapchat and facebook and it's really, easy over here on the right side you can,see this is how the ads will look like,so on snapchat it will look something, like this this will be on the explorer, page and your ad is going to be over, here with all the details and this is,how it will look like on facebook as you,can see it's pretty simple it's really, easy and the great thing about this is,that you can run this ad for as long as,you like it can you run for one day two, days a week a month it all depends upon, you and it really really works and then, finally we have apps now this is really, important over here you have the app, store of shopify and from here you can, download different applications onto, your shop that will help you grow your, business so right now i only have two, apps umbrello and shopify email so,obrello i will tell you about it later,it's really cool it's really easy to use,and then finally we have down below, sales channels now in sales channels, what that basically means is that you'll,be able to add different sales channels, onto your shopify account and you'll be,able to sell your shopify products onto, different platforms such as facebook or,google which is really really cool and,if you don't see a sales channel that, you want to use you can just visit the, shopify app store and over there you can,you know search for it and then you have, online store and over here you will, basically you know edit your online, store you have themes you have blog, posts pages navigations domains and, preferences right now i'm in the theme, section over here so this is my current, theme as you can see and then you can, apply more themes by visiting over their, theme store now they have two sections, they have free themes and they have, shopify themes if you look at the free, themes you only have 10 free themes in,total and these are very very simple and, minimalistik like they don't have a lot,of different customization options but, they get the job done and if you take a,look at the paid themes and you can also, apply different themes from different, places so you can upload different, themes over here or you can connect it,with github and you can create your own, theme on github with programming and, python or maybe you can find someone, that can create one for you or you can,go over to other places such as envato, market and you can get some themes from, there as well so having said that that,is all the things that you needed to,know about shopify now let me show you,how you can basically add products so to,add products you come over here onto, home page and click on add products and, over here you will be able to manually, input your product so over here you will,be able to input all the information, needed such as title description and, media and in media you can upload photos,or videos about your product then you, have pricing and then you have inventory, and shipping as well like all of the, information you can put in manually it's,really easy it's really simple, now let me just show you another way, that you can add products onto shopify, which is through umbrello now if you, come over to apps you will see umbrella, over here all you have to do is just, simply click on it and install it and, sign up onto umbrella and once you sign,up all you have to do is open it and, once you open it it will look something, like this and over here on the left side, you have some options you have import, lists you have products you have orders, and you have notifications and then, finally you have find products so click,on find products and you will be taken, over to this platform over here where, you can find different products now as,you can see it says aliexpress over here, that is because umbrella is now, searching for different products onto, aliexpress and we can get all of the, information and all of the products from, aliexpress over onto shopify so how you,do that is basically let's just take, this decoration piece over here if i,hover my mouse over it all i have to do,next, all i have to do next is simply click on,add to import list now when i do that, this product will be added over here, into the import list and if i come over, here onto import list we will see that, this is the product right here and we,can change all of the information about, this so that it doesn't seem like we,copied it so you can go ahead and change, the name of this product you can add in,different variations maybe choose one or,not choose the other one and then you, have pricing you can change the pricing,as well and then you have description so,you basically have all of the dimensions, and shapes and stuff like that and then, you have images of all of these products,so you have five images that you, selected from all 36 images you can, choose whichever image you want you can, change it up a bit and once everything,is to your liking all you have to do is,just simply click on import to store now, once you do that,as you can see over here it's importing, over to shopify account and once it's,done that as you can see it's imported, simply come over here and underneath, products and you will see the product, that you have imported as you can see,it's over here this product has been, imported to shopify so if you go back to,shopify and click on products we will, see our product over here as you can see, this is the night lamp over here and if,we click on it we can edit all of the, details over here as well we can change, the name we can change the description, choose which variant we want to sell and, then down below we even have the seo of,this websi

BigCommerce vs Shopify — Which is the Best Ecommerce Platform?

Hi again everyone, it’s Matt from Style Factory.,In this BigCommerce vs Shopify comparison,  I’m going to help you decide which of these  ,leading website building platforms is  best for building your online store. ,So keep watching to discover the six key reasons  you might want to use BigCommerce over Shopify,  ,and the six key reasons why  Shopify might be the better choice.,By the end of this video, you’ll  have a much better idea which  ,of these platforms is the best fit for you. ,Let’s kick things off with a look at the 6  key reasons to use BigCommerce over Shopify. ,One — BigCommerce gives you  more built-in selling tools. ,While Shopify often requires you to invest in  apps, add-ons or more expensive plans to access  ,key selling tools, BigCommerce gives you most  of what you need to sell online out of the box.,Key features that you’ll find bundled in  BigCommerce’s entry-level plan that you won’t find  ,in Shopify’s include unlimited staff accounts,  the ability to list products on Google Shopping,  ,reviews and ratings tools and  real-time shipping calculation. ,Two — BigCommerce doesn’t  charge transaction fees at all. ,Unlike Shopify, BigCommerce doesn’t  charge transaction fees at all.,While you tiknically can avoid  transaction fees using Shopify,  ,this is only the case if you use its  own built-in payment processing tool,  ,Shopify Payments — and this  isn’t available in all countries. ,Three — BigCommerce converts prices  into local currencies automatikally. ,Displaying your product prices in your store  visitors’ own currency can really boost sales.,Although both BigCommerce and Shopify let you  display your products’ prices in local currencies,  ,with Shopify your store visitors will have  ,to select their own currency  from a dropdown menu provided.,By contrast, BigCommerce uses IP addresses  and geolocation to display prices in local  ,currencies automatikally. Four — You can use more  ,product variants in BigCommerce. Product variants let you offer  ,your products in lots of different colours,  sizes and shapes. While Shopify limits you  ,to just 100 product variants, BigCommerce  gives you a very generous limit of 600.,To be fair to Shopify, apps do  exist that remove this limit,  ,but using them will involve additional costs. ,Five — BigCommerce makes it easier to  capture custom data for your products. ,Some merchants require their customers  to enter custom data at the point of  ,purchase — for example, a jeweller might need  some text from a customer for an inscription,  ,or a t-shirt company might need customer  images to use as the basis for a design.,This sort of custom data capture is really  easy to do with BigCommerce — you simply  ,add a text field or a file upload  field as an option to your product.,To facilitate this in Shopify however, you’ll  need to resort to some coding or a paid-for app. ,Six — BigCommerce includes  professional reporting on all plans. ,With BigCommerce, you get access to professional  reporting features on all its plans.  ,But with Shopify, you’ll need to be on one of its  more expensive plans to access reporting tools. ,So that’s six key things that  BigCommerce does better than Shopify.  ,But where does Shopify beat BigCommerce? I’ll come to that in just a second,  ,but before I do, it’d be great if you could  just take a moment to give us a thumbs up,  ,hit the subscribe button and  click the notifications bell.  ,This helps make our ecommerce content more visible  on YouTube, and lets you access it more easily.,Right, so let’s look at the six key  reasons to use Shopify over BigCommerce. ,One — Shopify’s templates are stronger. Although this is a subjective area,  ,we feel that Shopify’s template  offering is stronger than BigCommerce’s.,There is more variety between the free Shopify  themes on offer, they are a bit easier to edit,  ,and they come with more bundled typefaces. Two — The tax calculation features are better. ,A key challenge of selling online is that  you often have to cater for different tax  ,rates in different jurisdictions,  and price your products accordingly.,Because of its automatik tax calculation features,  Shopify can simplify this process considerably for  ,merchants based in several different countries,  including the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.,Additionally, Shopify makes it easy  to automatikally apply the EU’s  ,complex VAT MOSS tax rates to digital products.,Although BigCommerce does facilitate automatik tax  calculation, you’ll need to resort to a paid-for  ,app for this, and meeting VAT MOSS requirements  is not straightforward with BigCommerce. ,Three — Shopify is better for  building multilingual websites ,Thanks to its comprehensive multilingual features,  ,Shopify makes it easy to sell in multiple  languages. With the exception of the ‘Lite’  ,plan, all Shopify plans let you create up to 20  different language versions of your online store.,Although workarounds involving apps let you  sell in multiple languages with BigCommerce,  ,the platform currently lacks the  sophistikated and easy-to-use  ,multilingual options provided by Shopify. Four — Abandoned cart saving is  ,included on all Shopify plans. An abandoned cart saving tool lets  ,you send reminder emails automatikally to people  who leave your store in the middle of a purchase.  ,You can use these emails to encourage those  visitors to complete their transaction.,While Shopify includes this feature on all plans,  you’ll have to be on one of BigCommerce’s more  ,expensive plans to access this functionality. Five — Shopify gives you  ,access to a lot more apps. Shopify’s app market gives you access  ,to a much wider range of apps and integrations  than the BigCommerce equivalent — there are  ,over 6000 apps available for Shopify,  but just a few hundred for BigCommerce.,This larger range of apps gives Shopify users a  lot more flexibility and choice when it comes to  ,adding extra functionality to their stores. Six — Shopify comes with a built-in  ,email marketing tool. Sending e-newsletters to  ,your mailing list is usually crucial to  generating sales via your online store.,Recognizing this, Shopify has introduced  an email marketing tool that lets you  ,carry out basic email marketing without  leaving the platform. It’s free too,  ,if you have a mailing list of  less than 2,500 subscribers.,BigCommerce doesn’t currently have a similar  feature, but you can connect it to most major  ,email marketing solutions pretty easily. So that’s it - six ways that BigCommerce  ,outperforms Shopify, and six things that  Shopify does better than BigCommerce.,Of course, the best way to discover which  platform meets your needs is to try both  ,out — you’ll find links to free trials of  BigCommerce and Shopify underneath this video. ,I hope you’ve found this BigCommerce  vs Shopify comparison helpful,  ,but there’s lots more pros and cons of both  platforms to discover. You’ll find all these  ,in our full BigCommerce vs Shopify comparison,  which is available on the Style Factory website.  ,You’ll find a link to this artikle below. And finally, if you have any questions  ,about BigCommerce or Shopify, do leave  a comment. We’ll do our best to help.

watching e-commerce videos.,I'm being sure to mention in all of these videos that no one is unbiased.,Anybody who's telling you they're unbiased is either just lying to you or,perhaps they fooled themselves.,I have my favorite platforms: we're BigCommerce, partners don't do so much with Shopify.,But I'm also not here to sell you, anything.,I want you to end up on the absolute best platform for you.,These are,in no partikular order so let's just get into it.,The first reason to choose,BigCommerce versus Shopify are API's.,API's are important if you're,considering a SaaS platform because you don't have access to the underlying code.,API's are how you add all the functionality that you need to add.,Both,of these platforms have pretty good API coverage.,Although I'd argue that BigCommerce,is a bit better but for the most part both are adequate for most, folks needs.,However, the difference in the limits on how fast you can access, those api's is not even a fair comparison.,Shopify limits merchants to two API requests per second and then just, generously doubles that to four for Shopify plus.,BigCommerce on the other, hand gives you 400 API requests per second.,When we were looking at which,SaaS platforms to begin supporting as an agency, honestly, this was one of the, biggest features that led us to choose BigCommerce.,I know what you're thinking, how often do I really need to hit an API.,I mean four times a second is pretty, quick.,Well, if you're syncing data from your PIM or ERP system and you have, thousands of products to synchronize you're hitting it a lot, probably a lot, more than you realize.,25,000 products could take, over four hours to sync on Shopify.,To really drive that comparison home that, same catalog would take about a minute on BigCommerce.,Again, I see those wheels, turning, I know you.,That's a sync in the background that, happens in the middle of the night so if it takes four hours, who cares?,Fine.,However, if you have multiple systems that need to sync data,to your ecom store you can very quickly run out of hours in the day.,To give, you an example that might directly affect your customers and your sales.,Shopify doesn't have a faceted search that includes filtering.,There's a lot of,third-party vendors that provide this functionality so you can add it through, some apps.,However, how do you think they get that data?,The API's.,If they're,hitting those API's in real time while your customer is interacting with the, search, then your customers are in for a hell of a good time waiting on your slow ass, search to load.,And the second reason to choose BigCommerce over Shopify are, better product variants and options.,This is another case where Shopify's focus on,simplicity significantly hinders what you can do with the platform.,Shopify, allows you to create three product options like size color or whatever with,a 100 SKU limit.,For many merchants I'm sure that's more than enough.,If,you're outside of that typical fashion use case you can run through three, product options pretty quickly.,BigCommerce on the other hand allows you to,create up to 250 product options that include up to 600 total SKUs.,Now I,strongly urge you not to put hundreds of options on your products.,That would be a,disaster.,But, if you need four or five options BigCommerce is your choice.,The third reason to choose BigCommerce versus Shopify are better SEO,capabilities.,SEO is critikal for any e-commerce business.,I know more and more of,your traffic is coming from social and paid ads but as those channels mature, they become increasingly competitive and expensive.,That's why it's so important,to focus on organic to help increase your profit margins.,You,just don't know when that paid traffic is going to become too expensive to be,viable.,BigCommerce is focused on making a more flexible SaaS ecommerce platform, and that's evident in its SEO capabilities.,You have a lot more options,as far as your URL structure which is especially important if you're migrating, from a different platform.,Additionally, BigCommerce's product, categories allow you to manage your products in a more traditional category,to subcategory relationship this makes creating complex navigational structures, easier, especially if you're managing a large number of products.,In Shopify, you,can fake a deep category structure using some apps but this is really working, around how their collection system was designed.,BigCommerce also includes,Akamai which will automatikally optimize your product images to help improve your, page load times.,I can't tell you how many times over the years that I've had,a new customer complained that their site is slow only to find out that, they're uploading huge 300dpi product images.,With Akamai, it helps eliminate, much of this hassle... which sucks for me, I,guess, because those customers won't be,looking for new developers.,But, you know, we'll figure it out.,And the fourth, reason to choose BigCommerce over Shopify is additional functionality.,They're just, things BigCommerce will do out of the box that Shopify doesn't have.,Again, much,of this can be added to Shopify with apps if you're already leaning that, way.,But, be sure to factor that into your ongoing cost as well.,Here are a few, examples of things that BigCommerce can do that Shopify cannot, at least without, some additional apps.,Shopify claims to do B2B e-commerce but it's pretty, limited because it's not really what the platform was designed to do.,I'm sure, with their acquisition of the team at Handshake they have plans for B2B but as,of this moment it's pretty basic.,With BigCommerce, however you have more, options.,With their price lists you can get more creative with your pricing, you,can create tiered pricing, and give those high-volume customers the pricing breaks, they demand, and show or hide categories based on customer groups.,There's also, some solid marketplace offerings on BigCommerce for taking your b2b,functionality up a few notches if you need to.,Another feature of note is,multiple currencies.,I know Shopify is telling you that they, handle multiple currencies but really all they're doing is converting one, currency to another for display to your customers, and then allowi

PaaS is a development, and deployment environment in the cloud resources are available to deliver, anything from simple cloud-based apps to advanced cloud enabled enterprise, applications SaaS on the other hand is the licensing,of software and a delivery model where this license is on a subscription basis, and is centrally hosted Magento gives merchants an open source framework to,work with which in need of,complex high customizable solutions however to take advantage of that, endless creative freedom you'll probably want to hire a team of developers which, can mean a little extra investment and maintenance costs on the flip side big, commerce is a ready-to-use platform not only does it allow you to choose from a,set of pre-built and customizable themes but its core product already includes, features like product reviews digital marketing and loyalty programs yes it's,a closed source platform but it's a low-cost way to get started which may,not require as much assistance from a developer although easier to use do you, keep in mind that there are restrictions on the functionality within big,Commerce's platform compared to Magento if Magento doesn't have a specific built,in feature you can build one yourself this means customization with Magento is,limitless multi store capability Magento offers multi store functionality in the, same installation allowing users to create and access multiple stalls on,different URLs all stores through the multi-store installation share the same, back end making administrative work a lot easier,Magento allows users to customize the whole experience to local customs and, shopper expectations all around the world this includes site design a,product mix and support for local tiknologies and suppliers users can, integrate most local business and custom systems without breaking the bank,Magento goes above and beyond to support multi currencies multi payment methods, and multi languages big commerce doesn't let complexities slow them down either, they to offer multi currency multi language multi, store and multi-brand solutions along with international options for shipping, and taxes through their platform allowing users to sell to customers, almost anywhere in the world b2b Magento commerce includes everything, you need to manage b2b e-commerce sites for multiple brands channel partners and,key accounts b2b customers can manage their own company accounts by setting up,various levels of buyers who require specific roles and permissions Magento, also allows users to personalize the online experience with the ability to,assign different pricing lists and custom catalogs and target content and, promotion to specific segments customers can view details on previous orders, track their quotes manage their credit view they also offer advanced b2b shipping, rates through a native integration with shipper HQ and allow one-click pre-built,tools including immediate quote generation user permissions and, reordering bigcommerce has their customer, experience at the forefront of their game hosting security and maintenance, another advantage with big commerce is that they take care of any hosting and, software maintenance after new releases your software is automatikally updated, and if any problems arise their team fixes the, issues Magento users on the other hand will need to find and manage their own, hosting after licensing the software if they are using Magento's free version, they'll also be responsible for any maintenance software upgrades and bug, fixes Magento is paid version however is hosted on Amazon's Cloud AWS since, bigcommerce hosts and maintains your platform they also ensure that your, store is PCI compliant as an ecommerce seller you must be PCI compliant to,safeguard your customers payment information as you might have guessed,Magento merchants are responsible for the own website security and need to,meet PCI compliance standards on their own all that extra power and flexibility, comes with a little added responsibility if you need help in this area you know, what to do hit us up plugins and extensions one of the most important, factors you'll want to take into consideration when choosing an ecommerce, platform or any plugins apps and integrations you're going to need, between Magento and BigCommerce both platforms have extensive app, marketplaces that gives sellers the opportunity to customize their store, you'll be able to find specific plugins or apps for shipping cart abandonment, email marketing rewards programs and much more however the commissars app, marketplace is a lot smaller than Magento's naturally because there are, newer platform with fewer developers and users at this time however the disparity,is generally not an issue as both platforms offer most of the basic, plugins your webstore might need perhaps a more important difference is that, bigcommerce and stores its apps directly to your store as soon as you download, them and they take care of any future updates and fixes automatikally, meanwhile Magento follows a more manual installation process plus you'll need to,maintain and upgrade your own extensions whenever necessary but the platform also, allows you to build and install your own custom extensions should you need a,custom
