Hey everyone, my name's Adam and this is my new channel. I'll be talking about technology, gadgets, and more. English is actually my second language, so bear with me. This is my first video, so go easy on me. Today, I want to discuss something that really annoys me - television ads.

The Madness of Television Ads

Whenever you try to watch something on your smart TV these days, you're bombarded with ads. It's impossible to watch anything without sitting through a few ads. You can't even rewind or do anything without being interrupted. But, fear not! There is a way to stop this madness, and I'm here to show you. It's not complicated, and you don't need any special skills. Just grab your TV remote and ensure you have internet access.

Let's Get Started

To demonstrate, I'll open up my smart TV and try to watch something. I'll use the ITV Hub for this example. Let's go with American Dad. I'll press play and see what happens.

- First, we see the ITV logo, which is normal.

- But then, the first commercial pops up. I'll start my stopwatch to see how much time we're wasting.

- Another ad. I'm already getting bored.

- Oh, this one is actually interesting. I should buy some more coffee.

- We're already a minute in, and there are still more ads to come.

- Finally, we can watch the show, but wait, there's one more ad.

In total, we wasted two minutes watching six ads before even getting to watch our favorite show. And this is just the beginning because there will be even more ads in the middle of the episode.

Let's try another example. I'll attempt to watch Real Housewives. Same situation - the ITV logo appears, and boom, the same commercial. No mercy. I'm not going to watch this. I'll go somewhere else.

The Solution

Now, let me show you how to put an end to this. It's quite easy. First, go to your settings using your remote. Look for the network settings. It doesn't matter what TV brand you have; they all have this feature. If you're using Wi-Fi, go to the Wi-Fi settings. If you're using a LAN connection, find the LAN settings. Go to advanced settings and look for the DNS server. I'll provide the new DNS address in the description below the video.

DNS Server:

DNS servers are like phone books for computers. They translate human-readable web addresses, like google.com, into IP addresses, like This new DNS server I'm suggesting has a blacklist that blocks all those annoying ads. So, whenever your TV tries to play an ad, this DNS server will block it.

Double-check everything to ensure it's set up correctly. Once you've made the changes, go back to the ITV Hub, or any other app you want to use, and try to play the same videos. You'll notice that there are no ads at the beginning, and you won't be interrupted by ads in the middle either.

One downside is that you may lose the ability to rewind or pause your videos. But, if you're like me and hate ads, it's a small sacrifice to make.
