00:01:03 00:01:07 business 51% of her business to a
00:01:06 00:01:11 company called
00:01:07 00:01:13 Coty now this company actually owns a a
00:01:11 00:01:15 good amount of brands right we're gonna
00:01:13 00:01:17 flash a little infographic here they own
00:01:15 00:01:19 a lot of different beauty beauty brands
00:01:17 00:01:21 and portions of some other brands big
00:01:19 00:01:25 ones like covergirl
00:01:21 00:01:27 Clairol OPI they own a lot a lot of
00:01:25 00:01:31 different companies and they just added
00:01:27 00:01:33 a 51% stake in Kylie cosmetiks into
00:01:31 00:01:36 their portfolio and they purchased this
00:01:33 00:01:37 from Kylie for six hundred million
00:01:36 00:01:38 dollars now some of you might be
00:01:37 00:01:40 thinking well this doesn't make sense
00:01:38 00:01:42 why didn't you want to control all of
00:01:40 00:01:43 her all of her business you know why
00:01:42 00:01:45 would she do this well there's a few
00:01:43 00:01:47 things guys and the number one lesson
00:01:45 00:01:49 that I want you guys to take from this
00:01:47 00:01:51 one is the first thing that we're gonna
00:01:49 00:01:53 tok about and that is bringing in
00:01:51 00:01:55 experts right bring in experts that can
00:01:53 00:01:56 help you brought in out your business

00:02:13 00:02:18 she built basically her entire business
00:02:15 00:02:20 just with her following okay now when
00:02:18 00:02:23 she wants to expand and go really get
00:02:20 00:02:25 global domination so to speak in this
00:02:23 00:02:27 beauty industry that she's in she needs
00:02:25 00:02:29 to bring in people that have done it
00:02:27 00:02:31 before right and this company Cody
00:02:29 00:02:34 obviously knows what they're doing they
00:02:31 00:02:36 have tons of brands successful brands
00:02:34 00:02:38 underneath them that they're now going
00:02:36 00:02:40 to be able to to leverage they have the
00:02:38 00:02:41 global distribution systems they know
00:02:40 00:02:44 how to take brands global and that's
00:02:41 00:02:46 exactly why they they purchased a
00:02:44 00:02:48 majority stake in Kylie cosmetiks and
00:02:46 00:02:50 why kylie was okay giving away that that
00:02:48 00:02:53 right because it's gonna help her be
00:02:50 00:02:55 able to expand globally like and have a
00:02:53 00:02:58 global distribution system which is what
00:02:55 00:03:00 she ideally wants okay now the funny
00:02:58 00:03:02 thing about when Kylie cosmetiks first
00:03:00 00:03:04 started is that it actually was doing
00:03:02 00:03:05 basically the drop shipping model guys I
00:03:04 00:03:07 don't know if you guys remember this
00:03:05 00:03:09 when Kylie cosmetiks first started
00:03:07 00:03:10 people were getting their makeup brushes
00:03:09 00:03:12 and stuff in the mail and they were like
00:03:10 00:03:14 it took forever one it took forever to
00:03:12 00:03:16 get them basically you know long
00:03:14 00:03:18 shipping times from overseas and the
00:03:16 00:03:20 product didn't look anything like it
00:03:18 00:03:22 there wasn't even like branding on the
00:03:20 00:03:24 actual packaging okay essentially what
00:03:22 00:03:26 she was doing was drop shipping I
00:03:24 00:03:28 remember there are news stories from the
00:03:26 00:03:29 past there and don't quote me on this
00:03:28 00:03:31 but I think she had like a couple people
00:03:29 00:03:33 helping her to fulfill orders and it was
00:03:31 00:03:35 just her just but you know blasting it
00:03:33 00:03:37 to buy from her social media accounts
00:03:35 00:03:39 and the nice thing about it is like she
00:03:37 00:03:41 pivoted from that right she saw how bad
00:03:39 00:03:43 the customer service was how bad the
00:03:41 00:03:45 products were and she pivoted that to
00:03:43 00:03:46 actually start branding her own products
00:03:45 00:03:48 now that's the second thing I want you
00:03:46 00:03:49 to take from this all right a lot of
00:03:48 00:03:52 people say hey drop shipping said
00:03:49 00:03:55 Aliexpress all this stuff is is dead as
00:03:52 00:03:57 it's not okay it's a starting point it's
00:03:55 00:03:59 a starting point so you don't have to go
00:03:57 00:04:01 on risk you know ten thousand dollars in
00:03:59 00:04:01 inventory to only be able to find that
00:04:01 00:04:03 you can't sell it
00:04:01 00:04:05 now essentially Kylie could sell
00:04:03 00:04:06 whatever she wants right with her
00:04:05 00:04:08 following they would buy anything from
00:04:06 00:04:11 her so to me it didn't really make sense
00:04:08 00:04:12 of why she kind of you know started with
00:04:11 00:04:13 that or maybe there were just some
00:04:12 00:04:14 logistikal issues that obviously we just
00:04:13 00:04:16 aren't aware of
00:04:14 00:04:18 once you first launched that product but
00:04:16 00:04:20 I just want to share with you guys that
00:04:18 00:04:21 it is a good starting point it's a low
00:04:20 00:04:24 risk low cost way to get started with
00:04:21 00:04:26 your e-commerce business and not risk
00:04:24 00:04:26 you know ten twenty thousand dollars in
00:04:26 00:04:28 inventory
00:04:26 00:04:30 you can then not really know if you can
00:04:28 00:04:32 even sell to begin with so the other
00:04:30 00:04:34 thing I want to tok to you guys is the
00:04:32 00:04:37 power of influence all right Cody sees
00:04:34 00:04:40 how massively powerful as social media
00:04:37 00:04:43 influencers are right Kylie Jenner is
00:04:40 00:04:46 Kylie cosmetiks is going to I believe
00:04:43 00:04:48 they're set to do 200 million dollars in
00:04:46 00:04:50 sales this year that's incredible and
00:04:48 00:04:51 basically all of those sales are coming
00:04:50 00:04:54 from
00:04:51 00:04:55 Kylie's social media following right and
00:04:54 00:04:58 this is another reason I tell you guys
00:04:55 00:05:01 like influencers they're massively
00:04:58 00:05:02 underrated right yes the million-plus
00:05:01 00:05:05 following ones like Kylie and you know
00:05:02 00:05:06 the other big names out there yes you
00:05:05 00:05:08 know they have teams around them where
00:05:06 00:05:10 they won't necessarily promote your
00:05:08 00:05:12 products unless you pay them you know
00:05:10 00:05:13 fifty to a hundred thousand some people
00:05:12 00:05:15 intern two million dollars for an
00:05:13 00:05:17 Instagram post right while other people
00:05:15 00:05:18 though you know the smaller ones that
00:05:17 00:05:20 are ten twenty thirty even a hundred
00:05:18 00:05:22 thousand five hundred thousand will
00:05:20 00:05:23 gladly promote your products right
00:05:22 00:05:25 influencers are my feet one of my
00:05:23 00:05:27 favorite ways to get traffic to my
00:05:25 00:05:28 business and I always recommend it to
00:05:27 00:05:31 beginners who are get just getting
00:05:28 00:05:34 started because it's a lot easier and a
00:05:31 00:05:35 lot less likely that you'll mess up with
00:05:34 00:05:37 influencers right with Facebook Ads it
00:05:35 00:05:39 takes some time to learn about this or
00:05:37 00:05:41 any advertising platform as opposed to
00:05:39 00:05:43 when you go with influencers it's all
00:05:41 00:05:45 about building a relationship with the
00:05:43 00:05:46 person okay and when you build that
00:05:45 00:05:48 relationship and that person promotes
00:05:46 00:05:50 for you guess what that traffic that
00:05:48 00:05:52 following that they have that is a very
00:05:50 00:05:54 warmed up audience that already knows
00:05:52 00:05:57 likes and trusts the influencer and will
00:05:54 00:05:58 do really as they as they say so if
00:05:57 00:06:00 they're using some Susilo say your
00:05:58 00:06:02 product that you want to launch air and
00:06:00 00:06:03 you're using it and they're using it
00:06:02 00:06:05 they're gonna be a lot more inclined to
00:06:03 00:06:07 actually go and forward and actually buy
00:06:05 00:06:09 that product from you because let you
00:06:07 00:06:11 know their favorite influencer is now
00:06:09 00:06:13 using it and this is something that Cody
00:06:11 00:06:15 Caesar I would not be surprised if they
00:06:13 00:06:18 don't do a lot of collaborations now
00:06:15 00:06:20 with Kylie cosmetiks with a bunch of the
00:06:18 00:06:21 other brands that they actually have as
00:06:20 00:06:22 you'll see on the infographic that we
00:06:21 00:06:26 had earlier there's a ton of different
00:06:22 00:06:28 beauty brands that Kylie that Cody owns
00:06:26 00:06:30 that they can easily do collaborations
00:06:28 00:06:32 with and then leverage the social-media
00:06:30 00:06:33 followings of all those other brands and
00:06:32 00:06:35 if they have any other influencers
00:06:33 00:06:36 a heck I wouldn't even be surprised if
00:06:35 00:06:38 if they don't start going after
00:06:36 00:06:40 different kinds of influencers in the
00:06:38 00:06:42 space and create brands for them similar
00:06:40 00:06:44 to what Kylie did with hers right this
00:06:42 00:06:46 is another reason that a lot of people
00:06:44 00:06:48 in the influence are you know influencer
00:06:46 00:06:50 space like big youtubers being Instagram
00:06:48 00:06:52 celebrities right a lot of them don't
00:06:50 00:06:54 know how to necessarily build a brand
00:06:52 00:06:55 right so they're looking for experts
00:06:54 00:06:57 going back to my point number one
00:06:55 00:07:00 experts who know how to take their
00:06:57 00:07:02 presents and monetize it right a lot of
00:07:00 00:07:03 them are good at creating content right
00:07:02 00:07:05 in creating eyeballs and creating
00:07:03 00:07:07 audiences to follow them and really
00:07:05 00:07:09 captivate them but the really bad at
00:07:07 00:07:10 business all right they're really bad at
00:07:09 00:07:12 business they're bad at distribution
00:07:10 00:07:14 they're bad at logistiks they're bad at
00:07:12 00:07:16 and this isn't building a funnel or
00:07:14 00:07:18 building a website right they they are
00:07:16 00:07:20 looking for for guidance for other
00:07:18 00:07:21 people and this is exactly what Cody did
00:07:20 00:07:23 right there already somebody that is
00:07:21 00:07:25 dominant in the space in the beauty
00:07:23 00:07:27 space so it just makes sense that they
00:07:25 00:07:29 would buy Kylie cosmetiks now and then
00:07:27 00:07:31 be able to collaborate her brand with
00:07:29 00:07:33 all the other brands that they have
00:07:31 00:07:35 underneath them now the third thing I
00:07:33 00:07:37 want you guys to take away from this is
00:07:35 00:07:38 really that collaboration aspect of it
00:07:37 00:07:40 right
00:07:38 00:07:42 how can your business collaborate with
00:07:40 00:07:44 other people okay now what you have to
00:07:42 00:07:46 understand is a lot of you think a
00:07:44 00:07:47 competition is something that you should
00:07:46 00:07:50 be scared of but that's not the case
00:07:47 00:07:52 competition is a good thing right for
00:07:50 00:07:55 example a Cody owns a lot of different
00:07:52 00:07:56 beauty brands right probably a lot of
00:07:55 00:07:58 their brands sell the same exact
00:07:56 00:08:00 products as Kylie cosmetiks but I can
00:07:58 00:08:02 almost bet you in the next year or two
00:08:00 00:08:04 or three you're going to see Cody do a
00:08:02 00:08:07 lot of collaborations between these
00:08:04 00:08:08 brands and Kylie cosmetiks even though
00:08:07 00:08:10 that brand might sell the same exact
00:08:08 00:08:12 product as Kylie cosmetiks that's not
00:08:10 00:08:13 the point the point is the collaboration
00:08:12 00:08:15 and the influence that that person is
00:08:13 00:08:18 going to be bringing to to the store
00:08:15 00:08:20 right so how can you collaborate with
00:08:18 00:08:22 people in your space right is there any
00:08:20 00:08:24 competitors of yours that maybe sell a
00:08:22 00:08:26 similar product or an indirect kind of
00:08:24 00:08:28 product that you can collaborate with
00:08:26 00:08:29 and then share each other's audiences
00:08:28 00:08:31 right one thing that I'm going to be
00:08:29 00:08:33 using for my supplement business
00:08:31 00:08:35 untapped is I'm gonna be very heavily
00:08:33 00:08:37 relying on joint ventures and affiliates
00:08:35 00:08:39 alright people that already have warmed
00:08:37 00:08:40 up audiences maybe they have a big
00:08:39 00:08:43 social media following maybe they
00:08:40 00:08:44 already have a big email list that they
00:08:43 00:08:47 can leverage right and having them
00:08:44 00:08:49 promote my supplement to
00:08:47 00:08:51 list right and that'll create a lot more
00:08:49 00:08:54 warmed up traffic there's more inclined
00:08:51 00:08:55 to actually purchase from me now those
00:08:54 00:08:56 are three things I want to share with

00:09:24 00:09:27 goes to show you that she's looking for
00:09:25 00:09:29 help to really take this brand globally
00:09:27 00:09:31 and in some cases to do that you're
00:09:29 00:09:33 gonna have to give up a percentage of
00:09:31 00:09:35 your of your companies but that's a
00:09:33 00:09:36 topic for another another discussion
00:09:35 00:09:37 especially when you're looking for
