00:00:00 00:00:03 I only had $3,000 Ben Ben can I remember
00:00:01 00:00:06 it being $2,000 in my first store and
00:00:03 00:00:08 I'd spend I had a big [ __ ] I just was so
00:00:06 00:00:09 in the dumps I was like I dudes I on
00:00:08 00:00:12 money left
00:00:09 00:00:14 what idea trust and they're like get
00:00:12 00:00:18 just the process I did it and that next
00:00:14 00:00:25 week I did like five grand in profit so
00:00:25 00:00:30 what does this call this is a g7 X mark
00:00:28 00:00:32 one mark dude that's a mark seven mark
00:00:30 00:00:35 seven mark seven coming soon to stores
00:00:32 00:00:39 near you all right you guys in this
00:00:35 00:00:41 video we have Luke joining us okay not
00:00:39 00:00:42 mine I can't afford this I wish he also
00:00:41 00:00:44 can't lift it either
00:00:42 00:00:46 oh no it's a heavy there's a big we got
00:00:44 00:00:47 a diesel this thing is the diesel it's
00:00:46 00:00:48 like I mean mine's pretty good you guys
00:00:47 00:00:51 can see the picture quality but this
00:00:48 00:00:52 when you saw the traveling videos and
00:00:51 00:00:55 some of the crazy photos on Instagram
00:00:52 00:00:58 this is the gap behind the lens that is
00:00:55 00:00:59 the legend the camera how long how long
00:00:58 00:01:01 have you been doing photography first of
00:00:59 00:01:03 all I have a new photography since 15
00:01:01 00:01:06 years old damn how old you know 30 yeah
00:01:03 00:01:09 30 now 20 years old mounts of five years
00:01:06 00:01:11 and I started originally is that a
00:01:09 00:01:13 clothing brand back in the day bold and
00:01:11 00:01:15 I was like I guess I need a shoe concept
00:01:13 00:01:16 for my clothing brand like this how I
00:01:15 00:01:19 learned it and now it's kind of came
00:01:16 00:01:22 full circle because now I'm back in the
00:01:19 00:01:24 econ space yes sir I'm not doing content
00:01:22 00:01:26 as much anymore yeah it's interesting so
00:01:24 00:01:28 we flew Lucca you were in Bali at the
00:01:26 00:01:30 time right yes yes so we flew him to
00:01:28 00:01:31 meet us in Thailand and we had a couple
00:01:30 00:01:33 different content people where we were
00:01:31 00:01:34 working with you you won the race
00:01:33 00:01:37 congratulations
00:01:34 00:01:38 yes he wanted so we brought him out and
00:01:37 00:01:40 then over the next few months he you
00:01:38 00:01:42 into like 5 or 10 different countries
00:01:40 00:01:44 with this is kind of crazy had a lot of
00:01:42 00:01:46 fun got a lot of content with this beast
00:01:44 00:01:48 and a couple other cameras as well and
00:01:46 00:01:49 you know our whole goal at least mine
00:01:48 00:01:52 and my buddies who were traveling with
00:01:49 00:01:53 was to bring a couple people along with
00:01:52 00:01:55 us you know build a team of just good
00:01:53 00:01:58 positive people around us but then also
00:01:55 00:01:59 help them get into e-comm so you know
00:01:58 00:02:01 you didn't know much about you calling
00:01:59 00:02:03 all when you first came well I need I
00:02:01 00:02:06 need absolute ly nothing about econ
00:02:03 00:02:08 actually I actually had only I notiked
00:02:06 00:02:08 it sounds like a cliche story but I had
00:02:08 00:02:10 three
00:02:08 00:02:12 dollars in my bank account when I
00:02:10 00:02:15 started running at someone's store that
00:02:12 00:02:18 hidden and our friends taught me how to
00:02:15 00:02:22 do basically it's kind of crazy and now
00:02:18 00:02:24 I have a lot more than yeah well we'll
00:02:22 00:02:26 tok about that don't worry kind of what
00:02:24 00:02:28 went into that but so you know in just a
00:02:26 00:02:29 couple month timeframe he went from that
00:02:28 00:02:31 and then you know obviously being around
00:02:29 00:02:33 us like being able to see everything and
00:02:31 00:02:36 you know we helped him out with that now
00:02:33 00:02:37 a six-figure store like that and like
00:02:36 00:02:40 what it did six figures revenue in a
00:02:37 00:02:42 matter of less than two months yeah I've
00:02:40 00:02:44 got two stores these figures it's crazy
00:02:42 00:02:46 so like and that's just in the last few
00:02:44 00:02:47 monocyte rule II believe I'm a strong
00:02:46 00:02:49 believer in law of attraction and I
00:02:47 00:02:53 really think if you surround yourself by
00:02:49 00:02:54 people that you either aspired to do
00:02:53 00:02:56 things like that or you think they're
00:02:54 00:02:58 really doing cool things with their life
00:02:56 00:03:00 then that's like really all it's about
00:02:58 00:03:02 like what Hayden said about surrounding
00:03:00 00:03:03 yourself by like really cool people got
00:03:02 00:03:05 to be able to live under these people
00:03:03 00:03:07 yeah that good things will happen
00:03:05 00:03:08 so a hundred percent tok a little bit
00:03:07 00:03:10 about the background I know you've been
00:03:08 00:03:11 doing a lot of stuff with photography
00:03:10 00:03:13 videography for a long time
00:03:11 00:03:15 what's that space like I know I've
00:03:13 00:03:18 toked to a lot of people who were yeah
00:03:15 00:03:20 trying to do that I mean it's not
00:03:18 00:03:22 impossible to make it in you know I was
00:03:20 00:03:25 doing okay for myself like I was
00:03:22 00:03:27 shooting for DJ's I toured with kygo I
00:03:25 00:03:28 was touring with this DJ on them in Bali
00:03:27 00:03:30 his name is Karl moons
00:03:28 00:03:32 so I toured with a few different people
00:03:30 00:03:35 like that I was editing freelance for
00:03:32 00:03:36 youtubers from back in the US and I was
00:03:35 00:03:39 living in Bali so I was making good
00:03:36 00:03:42 money because the exchange rate but so
00:03:39 00:03:46 cheap out there Shoji about that but I
00:03:42 00:03:48 really wasn't making that much and I was
00:03:46 00:03:49 like I'm putting too much work for it
00:03:48 00:03:52 and when you when you're doing content
00:03:49 00:03:53 for people full time like that like
00:03:52 00:03:55 touring with people you're really
00:03:53 00:03:58 slaving over their work and not that I
00:03:55 00:04:02 didn't enjoy it but I just think that
00:03:58 00:04:05 being your own boss has a lot of a lot
00:04:02 00:04:06 of things to offer obviously and I think
00:04:05 00:04:08 there's something special about that and
00:04:06 00:04:10 I was always like a lord to that were
00:04:08 00:04:12 you more so get to control the direction
00:04:10 00:04:14 of what you're you know creating versus
00:04:12 00:04:16 just always filming someone every day
00:04:14 00:04:17 exactly I think we had a good structure
00:04:16 00:04:19 going content wise while we were
00:04:17 00:04:20 traveling just you know have any
00:04:19 00:04:22 opportunity we didn't need much
00:04:20 00:04:24 a few videos here and there a month and
00:04:22 00:04:27 some Instagram photos so it was a lot of
00:04:24 00:04:29 fun for everyone and I know his skill
00:04:27 00:04:30 with the photos specifically and you
00:04:29 00:04:33 know his I guess it's the overall desire
00:04:30 00:04:34 having things looking good really helped
00:04:33 00:04:37 him with building the most badass
00:04:34 00:04:39 websites like he really kills it with
00:04:37 00:04:41 bill building not only just Shopify
00:04:39 00:04:44 stores but branding stores branded
00:04:41 00:04:45 stores okay so we're actually having him
00:04:44 00:04:48 like working one-on-one with like our
00:04:45 00:04:50 in-person employees who do that so it's
00:04:48 00:04:51 kind of crazy you you built that skill
00:04:50 00:04:53 did you have experience with web design
00:04:51 00:04:55 or anything yeah I've definitely
00:04:53 00:04:56 designed some websites in the past and I
00:04:55 00:04:58 think like you said it all kind of just
00:04:56 00:05:00 comes back to the argument of like
00:04:58 00:05:02 aesthetiks and of just having this
00:05:00 00:05:04 obsession of making things look great
00:05:02 00:05:06 detail-oriented like now I I'm at a
00:05:04 00:05:08 point where my returns are enough where
00:05:06 00:05:10 I have like literally kids out building
00:05:08 00:05:12 stores for me like 10 15 kids who just
00:05:10 00:05:15 like go do my bidding and those together
00:05:12 00:05:17 team know about us because I can kindly
00:05:15 00:05:18 offset a lot of that work but what I
00:05:17 00:05:20 come to realize with a lot of people not
00:05:18 00:05:22 everyone that builds my websites but now
00:05:20 00:05:25 people aren't detail-oriented as much as
00:05:22 00:05:28 they need to be for EECOM and sure if
00:05:25 00:05:29 you have like a [ __ ] amazing product
00:05:28 00:05:32 it doesn't matter how the store looks
00:05:29 00:05:34 you can just sell like crazy and it'll
00:05:32 00:05:35 always help increase the conversions if
00:05:34 00:05:38 it's about a stove it's a branded store
00:05:35 00:05:41 you can literally sell the Kuran de
00:05:38 00:05:45 Christian like it's that's a great
00:05:41 00:05:47 example like I'm selling like products
00:05:45 00:05:50 that otherwise wouldn't be categorized
00:05:47 00:05:53 as great products but they sell because
00:05:50 00:05:55 I get returning customers because it
00:05:53 00:05:57 looks really good they think it's real
00:05:55 00:05:59 brands it's a brand versus a store like
00:05:57 00:06:00 oh wow they got this you position it the
00:05:59 00:06:01 right way which is why we focus more on
00:06:00 00:06:03 the brands because you get the longevity
00:06:01 00:06:06 and then you're gonna sell that down the
00:06:03 00:06:08 road you can do that mmm yeah so now you
00:06:06 00:06:10 focus pretty full-time on e-commerce
00:06:08 00:06:13 doing just hosting yeah we probably all
00:06:10 00:06:16 got some sort of ADHD OCD like just like
00:06:13 00:06:17 only working like just obsessing over
00:06:16 00:06:19 little things but he's just chilling on
00:06:17 00:06:21 the couch that's back there working all
00:06:19 00:06:23 the hit log just you know trying to make
00:06:21 00:06:25 the most beautiful stuff so it's kind of
00:06:23 00:06:26 crazy to see but you know that's that's
00:06:25 00:06:28 the progression of what you guys can do
00:06:26 00:06:30 and I know this was in what like a four
00:06:28 00:06:32 or five month time frame yeah well we
00:06:30 00:06:34 were in Thailand I was like four or five
00:06:32 00:06:35 months ago which is crazy mm-hmm
00:06:34 00:06:37 we were there you flawed at the end we
00:06:35 00:06:39 went to Prague Amsterdam I almost died
00:06:37 00:06:41 walking over that bridge and prague that
00:06:39 00:06:49 was great well we got into certainly an
00:06:41 00:06:52 insert a clip of that just he just
00:06:49 00:06:53 scaled this entire bridge that was crazy
00:06:52 00:06:56 what really drove him for that mostly
00:06:53 00:06:57 the same thing I was like the same thing
00:06:56 00:06:59 I was doing there's no way this kid is
00:06:57 00:07:01 doing this right I'm just no way I can
00:06:59 00:07:03 walked up this big arc over this bridge
00:07:01 00:07:05 we're like out exploring this I'm gonna
00:07:03 00:07:08 hassle yeah it was definitely 200 feet
00:07:05 00:07:13 up like 3 like 2 to 3 feet wide it's
00:07:08 00:07:15 like yeah absolutely it's crazy do this
00:07:13 00:07:16 stuff we had to do snowboard is nothing
00:07:15 00:07:18 like learning how to get over that
00:07:16 00:07:19 mentally but yeah that's great so I
00:07:18 00:07:21 wanted to share that with you if you
00:07:19 00:07:23 could give a you know one or two quick
00:07:21 00:07:25 tips on he doesn't even necessarily have
00:07:23 00:07:27 to be econ but I know a lot of people
00:07:25 00:07:28 want to do things quickly and what
00:07:27 00:07:30 you've done didn't necessarily come
00:07:28 00:07:32 quick as your the skills that you built
00:07:30 00:07:34 you know for a lot of time along you
00:07:32 00:07:35 know multiple years after that but what
00:07:34 00:07:37 has been a couple of those like most
00:07:35 00:07:38 important driving factors for you that's
00:07:37 00:07:39 helped you um
00:07:38 00:07:41 I think you got to go with the classic
00:07:39 00:07:43 networking tip you know get out of the
00:07:41 00:07:45 DMS you know you can network in the
00:07:43 00:07:47 danzig yeah it works ok but meet people
00:07:45 00:07:50 in person you know buy that flight out
00:07:47 00:07:52 to LA and make some meetings with people
00:07:50 00:07:53 that you look up to and try to get
00:07:52 00:07:55 involved about what because when people
00:07:53 00:07:56 see you face to face like I met these
00:07:55 00:07:58 guys face to face when we were in
00:07:56 00:07:59 Thailand that's just kind of like though
00:07:58 00:08:01 that connection like we all just having
00:07:59 00:08:03 a good time you know I'm just great so I
00:08:01 00:08:06 went out by the pool just like both
00:08:03 00:08:08 interviews like three plates on the
00:08:06 00:08:12 ground and just like yeah we gotta have
00:08:08 00:08:12 a flip of that to it instead oh my god
00:08:19 00:08:25 yeah a lot of crazy stuff no so much fun
00:08:22 00:08:27 Thailand is like it's not expensive it's
00:08:25 00:08:29 so officer word yeah it's it's
00:08:27 00:08:31 ridiculous but so no and you dropped out
00:08:29 00:08:35 of USC I dropped out of UC from you went
00:08:31 00:08:37 to USC old school what I mean I'm not a
00:08:35 00:08:38 good film captain straight one percent
00:08:37 00:08:41 really that's thick definite we in USC
00:08:38 00:08:45 mm-hmm due to young good good grades ah
00:08:41 00:08:46 not so much films you don't need a good
00:08:45 00:08:50 grades just like good work but that's
00:08:46 00:08:53 crazy yeah and this is like it's the
00:08:50 00:08:54 last I wanna be living anyways so I
00:08:53 00:08:55 really didn't want to be in sweatiest
00:08:54 00:08:58 new school would be a good like
00:08:55 00:09:00 weightily boom a little vehicle step
00:08:58 00:09:02 like a vehicle to take me to the next
00:09:00 00:09:06 level but now like two years into school
00:09:02 00:09:07 I was like I I'm done let's go you're at
00:09:06 00:09:08 USC for two years yeah two years of it
00:09:07 00:09:12 that's crazy
00:09:08 00:09:13 over for year mm-hmm and so with econ
00:09:12 00:09:14 specifically I know you've done a lot in
00:09:13 00:09:16 our two stores you're getting experience
00:09:14 00:09:18 with other types of products different
00:09:16 00:09:20 brands obviously focusing on Facebook
00:09:18 00:09:22 ads that's all we we taught him but uh
00:09:20 00:09:23 yeah Facebook ads are huge yeah what
00:09:22 00:09:25 what yeah you name of people because I
00:09:23 00:09:26 know you learned it fairly quick a lot
00:09:25 00:09:28 of people that's what we tok about a
00:09:26 00:09:29 lot to be focused on Facebook Ads so
00:09:28 00:09:30 what would be a couple of things that
00:09:29 00:09:32 you've struggled with and how do you
00:09:30 00:09:35 kind of overcome that well again like I
00:09:32 00:09:38 first um Hayden and friends are like
00:09:35 00:09:40 they're all helping me out run ads in
00:09:38 00:09:42 the beginning but after they taught me a
00:09:40 00:09:44 little bit you come to realize like that
00:09:42 00:09:45 my detail-oriented mindset of being good
00:09:44 00:09:47 with content kind of transfers over to
00:09:45 00:09:48 you have to be detail-oriented with
00:09:47 00:09:49 running ads to you know you have to be
00:09:48 00:09:52 analytikal you have to be able to read
00:09:49 00:09:55 numbers and I kinda just picked it up
00:09:52 00:09:58 easily I mean I'm no expert by any means
00:09:55 00:10:00 but I run very successful stores off of
00:09:58 00:10:01 Facebook ads solely no influencer
00:10:00 00:10:03 marketing you're still learning stuff
00:10:01 00:10:07 every single day every day so scaling is
00:10:03 00:10:09 still very poised coming in - yeah
00:10:07 00:10:11 that's a great position to be where
00:10:09 00:10:12 you're like you have the ability to make
00:10:11 00:10:13 more money years trying to scale further
00:10:12 00:10:15 cuz it's already working
00:10:13 00:10:17 yeah so what for you because I know it
00:10:15 00:10:19 did come pretty quick but you definitely
00:10:17 00:10:21 have had struggles I know that you know
00:10:19 00:10:22 what were some very difficult things for
00:10:21 00:10:23 you that you had to kind of
00:10:22 00:10:25 come you realize oh this is all you have
00:10:23 00:10:27 to do you guess that yes fun to make you
00:10:25 00:10:28 know I remember there you go back from
00:10:27 00:10:31 beginning this the story I'm telling
00:10:28 00:10:32 here they were telling me I only had
00:10:31 00:10:33 three thousand dollars Ben Ben can I
00:10:32 00:10:35 remember being two thousand dollars in
00:10:33 00:10:39 in my first store and I'd spend I had a
00:10:35 00:10:41 big [ __ ] and I just was so in the dumps
00:10:39 00:10:44 I was like I dudes I on money left
00:10:41 00:10:46 what idea trust and they're like get
00:10:44 00:10:47 just the process kind of add it you have
00:10:46 00:10:49 a great store a great product there's no
00:10:47 00:10:52 reason why it won't sell once you start
00:10:49 00:10:54 getting better data data and I did it
00:10:52 00:10:58 and that next week I did like five grand
00:10:54 00:10:59 in profit so there you go it was just
00:10:58 00:11:00 like one of those moments where I was
00:10:59 00:11:02 about to quit and they're like this is
00:11:00 00:11:04 where everyone quits do not and that's
00:11:02 00:11:05 more of a mindset thing and we live in
00:11:04 00:11:06 told them like dude like this is where
00:11:05 00:11:08 people own the time stop like that's
00:11:06 00:11:09 where I almost and that was back in the
00:11:08 00:11:12 day we're not spending like 50 bucks on
00:11:09 00:11:14 ads of a day and now I spend like five
00:11:12 00:11:16 ground as a day ya know even yesterday
00:11:14 00:11:18 the one where you launched what thousand
00:11:16 00:11:20 other day one ads it yeah I don't even
00:11:18 00:11:22 blink about it it's it's really yeah do
00:11:20 00:11:24 you have to understand the process and
00:11:22 00:11:26 and really just understanding it to
00:11:24 00:11:28 spend to make so exactly that's more of
00:11:26 00:11:29 a mental thing than anything but yeah I
