Free Wix to Shopify - Easy Guide 2022

hello everyone. i am ezekiel bruni, and this website at planet video is brought to you by my wife's haircuts. i've got new lights, new camera and that same old website- planet action for you. today we are actually going to be transferring a website from wix to shopify. not the actual store products, those can be exported via a csv file, but exporting your website is well, there's no button that just does that for you, so we're going to have to do things manually. it's simple, a little tedious, but simple. [Music]. let's go over and have a look at. this is my test site. it's a site i built on wix to sell pictures of my wonderful fluffy cat, cleocatra. simple enough, just some text over a photo, three columns with, uh, text and images, you know, delineating features, uh, a quick newsletter sign up form and a disclaimer stating that this is not a real thing. it's, it's not so simple enough. here we are on shopify. first, we're going to just take a couple minutes to set up a brand new store. that's it. i'm going to have someone blur out my email address in post and we're going to put in actually just the regular password that i've already got and let's throw in a store name i've already called like cleo catro 1, cleo catcher 2, cleo catcher 45. so we're going to do test video test site. there we go, video test site. and is that available? it seems to be available. let's create my store now. i already have a shopify account, so i'm just going to log me in there. that's the incorrect password. um, i'm going to take a second to sort this out and smash cut to the next screen. so that was a little embarrassing. had to update my password. oh well, um it. there was a little loading screen you might have seen that just basically said: we're making your store for you and now i've got to choose some products. i'm just playing around. i'm not selling anything. my current revenue: zero mexican pesos. uh, photography, because this is about pictures of my kitty and no, i'm div. i'm not developing this for, uh, whatever, i'm not developing this for a client, i'm developing this for myself and i'm gonna cut past the part where i put in my email address. okay, so now that i've put in my address, i've been taken to this screen right here and you could. you would normally. normally, when building a store, you'd want to just add a product, but we're not doing that. we're going straight to customize theme and we can choose a different theme. you can choose from their library of free themes here, or you can browse the theme store and they'll get one of the premium ones. we're not going to do any of that. we're just going to go straight into customizing the default theme, because this will give us the tools we need to copy the content over easily enough. now you're seeing what looks to be here like a fairly standard uh site builder, except there's a couple of things you need to know. one: you can't drag and drop anything, uh. secondly, everything's handled through this sidebar. the sidebar is where you do the dragging and the dropping, and the sidebar is where you decide what content is going to be on your page and which what content is not. and the last thing you need to know, the last thing you absolutely need to know: well, here's how to remove stuff. but the last thing you need to know is that you can't do this for every page. you can only do this- and this is very annoying, i'm not gonna lie. you can only do this on the phone page. every other page works a little differently and i'll show you how they work later, but for now, we've got mostly what we need. we've got this image with the text overlay, we've got the text columns and let's just do the newsletter and we'll call that a day huh. so now we've got the basic template we need. we're good to go. adding the actual text and images is easy stuff. first we just go into this header section. no, no, the header we're leaving alone. sorry, if we go to this image with overlay section and let me find, there we go. i've got my folder full of pictures and i think i can just drag and drop. let's see, yes, i can just drag and drop images to upload them and boom, there's my picture. now i want the text and boom got it. now something you need to know is like: again, everything's edited here on the sidebar. you know you can't just uh edit things over here and every different kind of content will have you know, its fields. we can change the layout. i think i prefer the full width, though, if i'm honest, we can change the image alignment. you can change the text size. we're going to go with the large and that's it really. just copy and paste your text into the appropriate fields. oh, uh, something you should know here and you know drag and drop your images in. but something you should know here is that you can- is that these content blocks- like this is one block of content, the image with text overlay, this content block over here with the columns, is actually three content blocks in one and you can add column. you can add extra columns- see, there's four now- or you can delete them and that's it. you just repeat the same process as before and only you put in a different picture. now. let's see, uh, we'll call it this one and then copy and paste your text. oh, the newsletter section didn't gets, didn't stay, odd. let's go back and there we go: subscribe to our newsletter. we will select that and that will stay where it is. now. i'm going to take a few minutes to finish out, finish uh creating the page, and then i'll show you what the final page looks like in the editor and on the live site, all right, and then i'll show you how to uh copy content over to everything. that's not a home page. while i work i wanted to include a quick interlude. you might have notiked i kept forgetting to hit this: a green select button when you're choosing things like images. that's important, otherwise your changes won't be saved. it's the same when adding, uh, new sections of content, like the newsletter, like i did earlier. all right now. i'll see you in a bit when i finish the rest of this. now, that only took me a few minutes, all things considered, and we've got the full page, more or less. it's got all the same content. well, it doesn't have the disclaimer, but we're just going to ignore that for now. is you just click save and you're good to go? now, if you want to see your site live, you just go hit this exit button over here, then hit this little i icon by next to the online store link and there you go. there is the home page in all its glory. now, let's assume you have some other pages you want on your website. unfortunately you cannot design them like you can here. we'll go create a page, we'll just call it about us and this is it. this is all you get. it's just a little uh rich text field. you can insert videos and images, that sort of thing. so that's good. so we're going to put our disclaimer here and we're going to change this to shopify and let's throw in one more picture just for funsies, one of the ones we used before. you can access the same photos you uploaded for your home page, which is good, and we're not going to bother with alt text or anything like that, because i am being lazy for the purposes of this video. save as and view page and there you go. you get this single column layout thing. it's not a lot to look at, i'm not going to lie, but it works, it's functional. the whole point of shopify, after all, is the store, so basically you can customize your home page and your store, and all the other pages are pretty much an afterthought. well, so that was pretty simple and i hope you all enjoyed that. found it useful. uh, in for educational, even, maybe even fun. now, in the video description, we are going to be putting a few helpful links in. we will be putting in a link to the written guide for this. we will be putting in most likely links to the shopify and wix reviews so you can compare their actual features and how they work, and you i'll also in be sure to include a link to our site builder category page which shows off all our reviews of all the best website builders, in case shopify and wix aren't working out for you. anyway. that'll be it for today. a.

How to Connect Shopify to Wix (Integration)

in this video i'm going to show you step by step how you can integrate wix with shopify. so this can be a little bit um overwhelming maybe. i'm going to show you how you can do this step by step, but it's not very easy. for this we also need software called zapier. but i'm going to start from the beginning. so let's get started. first of all, make sure you're logged in to your wix website, so manywixcom on your dashboard. this is how it should look like, here with the panel on the left and here your site. so here on this panel on the left, we want to go to crm tools and then to automation. so we want to set an automation to integrate it with shopify. so here we can hit create automation. so here we can change the trigger. so first we have to add a trigger, like what has to happen to get a follow-up action. so let's change this to: yeah, wick store. uh, customer abandons card. this is- this is an example. we can also change this to: customer makes a purchase. so every time a customer makes a purchase- on all products, we can even select specific products- then something else will happen, and that's what we can set up with the automations. so let's do. whenever a customer makes a purchase, we have to. we can do send email to contacts and a chat message, but we can also do connect to sapir with cp. we can connect it to a third party, uh, which is shopify. so let's do connect. disappear. so log into zapiercom and click make a zap. that's what we want to do. so we can just activate this, this one. there we go. so now it's never triggered email visitors to recover abandoned cart, my zaps. and you want to go to creates app. make sure you log in or create an account, disappear, and once you've done that, you want to type in wix, right here. so make sure you're on wix automations. there we go, and now we have to choose an event. as you can see, this here is the event we just created here. so that's great. make sure it's the automation rule. that's this one you just made. then hit continue and we can select a follow-up. one first sign into wix automations through sapir. there we go, select, and now it's going to load. so this may take a couple of moments and there we go. this is it, wix automations, my site too, and this is the automation we just made here. so that's great, it works, hit continue. so then we can select email visitors to recover abandoned cart and hit continue, and then the action will be something in shopify so we can test the trigger. so, yeah, we can do that. um, so there we go and it works, the automation works, so we can continue. and now we have to select the action. so for the action, we have to type in shopify. there we go, choose an event. so, for example, whenever somebody makes an order on wix, what has to happen on shopify? so we can do? yeah, anything you want. so of course, this is a little bit weird. every time someone buys something on wix, that a product gets created, for example. but you get the point, you can do anything. so now we have to sign into shopify to connect it to shopify. so there we go, yes, continue, and, as you can see, now we get this install unlisted app and boom, it's required and it's done. and now set up the action. so we can here set up the full action and then finish. but this is just how it works. it's super easy and i really like this. if this video helped you out, please leave a like, please subscribe and see you next time. have a good day.

How To Move To Shopify From ANY Ecommerce Site IN MINUTES! 🔥

so are you thinking about switching over to shopify? well, in this video, i'm going to show you guys how you can transfer your entire store, all your products, customers, orders, everything from any e-commerce platform over to shopify within minutes. let's get it so over here, rich from anywhere. we have been doing e-commerce for many, many years and we have a lot of e-commerce businesses that come to us looking for marketing help, and a lot of them are struggling with their current website builders. they use wix or wordpress or whatever it might be. a lot of them have issues. we recommend shopify all the time. we've been using them for years. there's a reason why they're the biggest and they're the baddest: because they're the best and they want to move over to shopify, but they're a little hesitant because they think it's going to take forever and it's going to be super expensive. this video is going to save you guys weeks and weeks of headache and probably hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars hiring people to do all this stuff for you, okay, so i'm really excited to show this to you. if you are new to rfa, make sure you hit the subscribe button, hit the little bell notification, so you're notified when we drop new gems like this and drop a comment below. let us know if you like our content or just say what's up. we reply to everybody. let's get right into it, man, let me go ahead and share my screen and let me show you, guys, how to move over to shopify. all right, guys, so the name of this app is called lit extension. you're gonna love this. all right, you can click the link in the description of this video. it'll take you right there, and when you get to the home page, you're going to see this right here. right now. i want to show you this really quickly. look, when you hit from, you're going to see all these options. you can literally transfer from any store, right? you got big cartel, big commerce, if you got. if you guys are wix, you got wix. you got, uh, woocommerce- you got woocommerce. you got all these different ones, right? so what you're gonna do is just choose your platform. let's just say you're coming from big commerce and then you're gonna switch to shopify. so what you'll need to do is you'll actually need to log in. so if you don't have an account already, you'll just need to create one, and you can actually do that by just clicking sign up right here and then just go ahead and put in an email name, password, or you can just create an account from facebook or google. so go ahead and sign up and then, as soon as you sign up, it's going to take you into your account where you'll actually start the process. so in this video, the example i'm going to use is actually going to be transferring a godaddy store onto shopify. all right, so let's go ahead and select godaddy right here and then, once we have that going to shopify, we're good, so we're going to go ahead and log into our account. now, once you're logged in, you have an account and everything. what you're going to start doing is you're going to select the source cart type and you're going to actually put in godaddy. and then what you'll do in the source cart url- now this is actually going to be the link that when you're inside of your godaddy account, the link that's in your web browser when you're actually editing the dashboard, that's going to be the link that you're going to put in there. and then you'll go ahead and put in your username and your password and then, on the bottom, where it says target cart setup, that's where you're going to put in shopify and you're going to actually put in your myshopifycom link right here. so just a quick note: you will have to have a shopify store already created in order to start this process. so if you haven't started a shopify store yet, go ahead and go over to shopifycom, create an account and then, once you do, you're going to go into your dashboard, copy the url at the very top and then you're going to go ahead and paste it right here. then you'll go ahead and click configure your migration. now, when you get to the configuration page, this is where you're going to actually select what you want to migrate. okay, so obviously you can select all, and this will select all the products and all the categories that you have inside of your store. with the free version of this, basically, what you're going to be able to do is migrate up to 20 products and 20 categories for free. if you want to migrate more than 20 products, then it's going to be a little bit of a fee, and i'll show you what that is in a minute, but it's really not that bad whatsoever. it's totally worth all the time saving right. so here's the thing. when you come to this- additional options- it says transfer images from categories, product descriptions and everything, and it says that it's an extra charge. but, honestly, every time that i do this, i don't check this and it still transfers all my images and all my product descriptions and everything. so i would just skip that, because it does it anyway for free. but, for instance, let's say that you have a store that has more than 20 products, right, what you'll want to do is you want to click skip free migration and then go ahead and click the orange button right below it. now, when you come to this page, it's actually going to pull how many different products and categories that you have in your store and it's going to give you an estimated price. so for this partikular store, we have 107 total entities that we need to transfer over, and for that amount, it's going to cost us 49 bucks, right, which is not that bad at all. i mean, that is actually amazing when you consider trying to manually migrate 107 products like that would take you probably days, if not weeks, to do that. so what i what i also found is that you can put in a little discount code and you can get five percent off here. so if you go ahead and type in shopify zero five and then hit apply, you'll see that it instantly takes two bucks off as well. so that's a little savings for you, not much, but hey, every little thing counts, you know. so then go ahead and hit: start full migration. and what i've notiked too is that sometimes you can click this and it won't do anything. what i've notiked is that sometimes you have to click it like three or four or five times. then it'll eventually kick in, and when it does, you'll start seeing it's a full migration is running and it'll say that it's currently preparing your migration right now. and if you scroll down here, you can actually see some more details about the migration right. so if you see that it says migration is running in the background and you don't need to keep this browser open until migration completes, it is safe to close this browser. turn off your computer, grab coffee, do whatever you need to do and you'll get a notification when it's completed. if migration gets slow at some point, please pay attention to the alert icon next to the migration progress and it'll explain detected issues. and what i've notiked is that sometimes it might take a little bit to completely migrate, maybe like 15 to 20 minutes or so, but what you will see is like pretty much instantly, within minutes, you'll start to see products start popping up inside of your shopify store, just like this. i mean it's incredible, and if you want, you can actually go and click inside of one of these products right here and you'll see that it actually starts pulling in all the titles, the descriptions, the images, the prices- all this stuff is already in your store, just like that. so i would say, like, give it 15 minutes, maybe 30 minutes or so, and then come back and check it out, and everything should be pretty much done at that point. i haven't really seen anything take much longer than that. now, obviously, i was using godaddy as an example in this video. you might be using something different, so it might be a little bit different depending on what platform you're coming from. so if you do need a little bit extra assistance, we do have a very affordable service where we actually help you and walk you through step by step o.

Connecting Your Domain Name to Shopify (DNS Records)

hey everybody, this is ori from astroweb, and today i'm going to teach you how to transfer your domain name, to apply your own custom domain name to a shopify store. so whenever you set up a store, when you're developing a store, when you're making it, you have a temporary domain- somethingmyshopifycom- and obviously you want to have your own business or own a personal domain name, and so you need to set it up, and this video is to show you how to set it up and what are the two aspects of things you need to do with your dns to set up the domain name so it works and shopify uses that one. okay, so what are the two things? number one: you need to specify, uh, via dns, that your domain is using shopify servers. that's number one, and we use a records and cname records, which we'll get into. the second thing you need to do is you need to add this txt records to allow shopify to send emails on your behalf. so what kind of emails? register emails, customer emails, order emails, things like that. so you need to allow shopify to send on your behalf. that's a very simple explanation of it, but basically you specify a setting so less domain providers, less email providers, will actually filter you as spam, so actually the emails will be delivered better. that's a better explanation for it, okay? so let's show you how to do it. let's do one with a real, real example. so i have a site right here, i have a- my shopify domain, and i want to set it up with a domain. that i'm gonna just do for this video only, just for example. okay. so what do i do? first of all, i go to my back end and i go to online store and i click on domains and when i do that, you'll see the dot: my shopify domain. now you want to connect a new domain. so you can either buy a domain from shopify or you can transfer the ownership from one registrar- for example, godaddy or big host or hostgator or any of these- and transfer it, or you can actually just specify the dns records and that's it. so i'm gonna do the connect existing domain, which means you have purchased your domain name from a different source and you're actually connecting it. so this is the most popular method. but you could also have shopify host it and then the flow would be slightly longer but also slightly more simple because you're letting shopify do all the dns records for you, okay, so i'm going to click on connect existing domain and i'm going to put the domain in. in this case, i'm using a domain called circuitcom- and i'm going to click on next. now, when i did that, it'll check who registered your domain name. right, so you purchase- for example, you pay ten dollars a year for it- who purchased that or who is a managing it? in my case, it's go daddy, but you might have a different provider. so if it's a provider that shopify recognizes, then you will actually be able to much easier connect it automatikally. you're going to basically click, there's going to be an, a pop-up window and you're going to actually specify your login for godaddy or for whatever provider, and it's going to authorize shopify to read and modify the data for them, right, so it's going to do it little faster. sometimes you don't want to do that. either you don't trust them, or or you have a registrar that doesn't actually, uh, automatikally connect with shopify. shopify doesn't recognize them, or is not. you know, they're not that big. so what i'm going to do, i'm going to do the connect manually version, which allows you to follow these steps for no matter what kind of registrar you have. okay, so i'm going to click on connect manually and now i have to follow the instructions. so what are the instructions? i already saved them up here so we can do it. so number one on the instructions is you will have to specify the a record and the txt record. okay, so what i'm? what am i going to do? first of all, i'm going to provide all this in the youtube description, but i'm going to go and i'm going to copy this ip address, okay, and i'm going to set up an a record. an a record is just a way to point that your domain is going to go to a certain ip, a certain server, right? so you're telling this domain is going to use shopify servers. so i'm going to go to my go godaddy registration and i'm editing my circuit. so, basically, i went to godaddy, i clicked on domain name servers, i clicked on my domain and domain dns management and i'm going to go here and i'm going to add a record, which is an a record, okay, and i'm going to do the host and i'm going to specify this. so basically means my domain name. it's going to point to the ip address that was specified. okay, you can keep that ttl, the time to live, uh, the fresh, how often it'll re-request? you can keep it as the default. one hour is fine, okay, and i'm gonna so this. so part one is: i'm putting the a record for this, okay. number two is if you have your domain- for example, circuitcom- right, circuitcom. if you also want to do wwwcircuitcom, then you can. you can also, which you typically should do- you're going to click here on add, you're going to click here on cname, you're going to type in www and you're going to go to the instructions. you're gonna copy this- it's shopsmyshopifycom, and you're gonna place it in the points too and you're gonna save it. so this is step number one, okay. so once you do that and you finished it correctly, you can go back here and you can click on verify connection. what is that going to do? shopify is going to query your domain and it's going to check that your settings are actually correct. so if you notike here, my a record is correct, it recognizes that i put the ip, but my cname was not correct. so what did i do wrong in this case? usually it's not something wrong. it just means that the domain name, once you save it, sometimes these things take time to actually propagate, so sometimes you just gotta wait a minute or two, or in some some providers you might have to wait an hour or two, right, so it really depends. but what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna verify again, and i need to make sure that both my a record and my cname record are verified, okay, and again, sometimes it might take a little while, but don't you know it. these are, these are normal. these are things that it might even take up to 24 hours in some cases, but usually they're within a few minutes maximum. okay, so i did it and, as you can see right here, my donate domain was successfully connected. now, once you do that, shopify is is already connected. but if you notike, it says here: ssl pending. what is ssl? it basically means that you can have a secure connection, a http connection with a padlock right here, and this process is going to be pending by shopify, and i've seen this take between about 15 or 30 minutes up to about five or six hours. so in some cases you might have to wait a little bit, and what i recommend is, if you can actually do the dns before the the hour that you want to launch, you could do it earlier, the day before, for example, and then you put a- uh, a password, then that would be usually be better. but if, just just so you know, if you're about to launch and you want to launch at 9am in the morning and you do that at 9am, your site might not be available in working because of this thing. so i want to just you know- alert that i've seen many times. it's taken many hours for this. okay, so let's do one more thing right now. this, the second thing, is: you have to configure the emails. so we're going to go here to these instructions, which i'll link as well, and we're going to create a txt record with this information right here. okay, so i'm going to copy all the way down here. okay, what it's doing is just saying, hey, i, i recognize shopshopify as one of the senders and all the providers, like gmail and hotmail and yahoomail. they're gonna, they're gonna use this data to try to reduce their spam. so if you authorize shopify, they won't put it in the spam, or at least you'll have less chance, right? so i'm going to go here. i'm going to go back to my dns. i'm going to add a txt record right here. here's a txt record and the host again is this at sign and i'm going to put the value in right here as l.
