Turn 14 on Shopify - How to Migrate Products

hello, this is jay, from data here to there, and today i'll be showing you a quick tip about our term 14 app for shopify. and so this app can load in turn 14 products into your store and keep them synchronized. now what happens if you accidentally uninstall it? or what if you want to attach products that you've already loaded in before installing the app? if you've answered yes to either of those questions, this video is for you. [Applause]. [Music]. so here we are in a test store and we're looking at the product details for one of the parts that has been loaded. and now maybe i loaded this a year ago and it's got some great seo on it. maybe i've loaded it before with the turn 14 app and uninstalled for some reason. the product is here, but when we scroll down to the inventory section, it says inventory is managed by shopify, and so what this means is that it's going to be managed by one of the locations you have, but is not connected to the term 14 api. so with the app installed, you'll see there's another option called turn 14- distribution api, and what this does is it keeps the stok live. so whenever it updates, which is every hour, it'll check. you'll go to the turn 14 api and make sure that you've got the latest values. now that's great if we're going to edit a single product. but what if we want to edit a whole bunch? so maybe you've got, you know, a few hundred or a thousand products in there. do you want to attach to the turn 14 uh app for shopify? well, what we can do? uh, we can go over to the inventory section and you'll notike that you can see the products by location. so we've got some here that are on the turn 14 distribution api location and some- i've got a custom location here- that aren't, and so let's imagine these are the ones that we want to attach to the app. so i can select them all and then click edit variants, and that goes to another screen here that allows me to do some bulk editing. but first of all we need to add a field called the fulfillment service, and this is what's going to give us the term 14 distribution api option. so i can click one at a time or i can click all of them, and you can imagine how useful that would be if you've got a whole bunch to change, and then we can just switch to term 14 distribution api, just like that, and so when i'm done i'll just uh press the save button. and now all of those products are being attached to the turn 14 distribution api location, meaning it will keep them synchronized. you know any other changes that happen you can have. you know, titles and descriptions synchronized and shipping dimensions, as long as you also have those, those options set in the content tab. and so that shows you, uh just a quick way, either by an individual product or by a batch, how you can attach products to the term 14 uh distribution api location. thanks for your time. if you have any questions, feel free to give us a shout here at data here there. so support data here there, dot com, or you can get in contact with me, jay, and i'll be happy to help you. Turn 14 on Shopify - Manufacturer Part Number Quick Tip

hello, this is jay, from data here to there, and today i'll be showing you a quick tip about how to enhance your product displays using the term 14 app for shopify. and so we're looking at a test store here where we've loaded in a number of products and we can click on the view and online store icon here to just show what it looks like on the front end, and so this is what a shopper would see. so they see the title, the images, the pricing, description, fitment information. but let's say you want to add some more. maybe you want to put in the manufacturer part number, or maybe you want to put in a comment for special order products that says: you know, please allow more time because it's a special order product, so you can do all of these types of things using the shopify liquid code, and so we're going to do today is show you exactly how to do that. [Music]. so let's pretend to be web developers for a minute and, uh, we'll go in and add that manufacturer part number to the product displays. and uh, now, before you get started, you'll need a few things. so you'll need a shopify store. uh, you'll need some basic knowledge about themes and then copy and paste skills. so let's take a look at the product here. that's first on the list. so, scrolling down, you'll see on the right hand side that there's a number of tags available, and so we've added these on purpose. we've added these so that you can enhance your displays on the front end, independent of what kind of theme you have. so there's some useful things in here, like whether or not the product requires a prop 65 warning, uh, whether or not it's a ltl product, uh, so if it needs like extra shipping fees, also if it's a special order product, so it might take a little bit longer to get going, so you might want to have a display in your product about that. but also there's the manufacturer part number. so we've got this text in front here that says mpn colon and then the original manufacturer part number. now sitting here in the tag is not too useful, uh, just hidden on the back end. so let's actually go into the theme. so that's on the left hand side of the menu and we go to the online store and then there's a. there's a button here where you can customize, but don't press that one. that's the one that goes into the front-end editing. we actually want to go deep down into the tunnel of editing the code. so click the edit code button and this is now going to show us the liquid code. so this is the machinery behind the theme, and you want to go all the way down to the product template- liquid- and there's going to be a lot of code in here. what i'm looking for, basically, is this: the title. now, every theme is different, so you might find it near the beginning, you might find it in the middle. i'm just going to keep looking. there's info about media. oh, there we go: product single title and product price. so that's where i want to put it. so what i'm going to do is give myself some space and i'm going to copy over some special liquid code and this is going to show the manufacturer part number tag. so you can get this from our support group. you can just email support data here to therecom or we can maybe include that for you on the video link, but i'm just going to paste it right in here so we can also format it a little bit better too. but this is just quite a simple um edition. so what this is doing is it's saying uh, for each of the product tags that are included. look for the mpn and, if you find it, then add a new item called manufacturer part number. so i want to save this now and then if i go back to my products i can do a preview, and so when i go to the preview now we should see manufacturer part number. voila, here you go. so now you can do the same thing. you could add, let's say, a bit of text about uh special order and whether or not it's going to take some extra time. or you could put like a prop 65 graphic, uh for the products that have prop 65 warnings. so there's quite a lot you can do here. if you need any help, uh, feel free. uh, give me an email or give me a shout and we'll help you out.

Turn 14 Warehouse Tour

hi, my name is Paul Telesca and I'm the senior marketing program coordinator here at turn 14 distribution, and welcome to our new 234 thousand square-foot ultra-modern warehouse located in hatfield, PA. Turn14 distribution is the 2016 SEMA wholesale distributor of the year, so let's go inside and check out some of the latest tiknology that we're utilizing to provide our customers with the service that we do. the latest material handling and logistiks tiknology, combined with our proprietary software, allows us to have the capacity for 28,000 packages a day at a 99% accuracy rating. so this is the inbound area of the warehouse. anything that we're receiving comes through this section of the warehouse. any product that enters the building light its own individual LPN number which allows us to track that products in the moment that it enters the building for the moment that it exists the building and ships out to a customer. so large product comes of the conveyor belt systems. automatik machines up there apply an LPN code to meats large product. the product goes to the scanners. the scanners recognize the manufacturer barcode and they recognize the LPN code. it matches that LPN code to that manufacturer product code and it puts two together into the system and then it kicks it down away to be put away on one of the shelves with the little product, though obviously they have to be unboxed. so the little products get put into these tote. each has its own number on it so that we can see what is in each tote, so what the system does. then it will recognize that there are so many bully dog tuners in this tow. it'll automatikally recognize that, though it has the incorrect weight, and kick it back into what we call exceptions. that container has to be rechecked to make sure that there's no extra product that's not supposed to be there, or product that is supposed to be there it's not missing from. so we have a lot of these screens too, in order to monitor our progress throughout the day. that's what's been LP ended, which is so important: the kids with the ability to actually track the product as they comes in and out of the building. I really just provide our customers with the most accurate shipping quotes that we can in order to make their business and their processes easier on their end as well. so once the product is decided, Pannell, PMS and it goes through the scanner with no issue, it gets kicked down in between are racking where we'll be put away their scanners all along, a conveyor belt system to recognize the barcode and OPN number as well. as you can see, they're getting product ready to be put away in the shelf. they come over with a scanner, they'll scan that area and put it onto the cart that they're using. wherever there is space, they'll scan the shelf and that will assign it to that shelving unit. on the other side of things, stuff also gets picked out to be shipped from this area of the warehouse as well. what they do is come back over here. you know it'll say items could be picked. they'll go, they'll scan the item, put it onto the cart. then they'll come over here, place the toe or the large box, whichever it is, and it'll be sent up the center here and we'll go up into the packing area. they'll check the weight, that will check the dims to make sure everything is correct. and again, it's just to increase the efficiency in order to make sure that we're 99% accurate every time we ship something out the door that you're going to get the right part. so once items are picked to be shipped out on an order, depending on the size of those small items. so come down the sorters here when they come to the packing stations, based on the exact dimensions that were able to capture from the five sided scanners. the system is then able to tell us exactly what product can go in each box. you never have boxes that are too heavy or things that shouldn't be boxed together. once the box is all packed up, an LPN is assigned to that box and the automatik label machine applies the label to that box as well. they then are kicked around through the conveyor belt system. scanners on the conveyer system recognize the LPN number that's assigned to that product and it'll shoot it down the correct sorter directly into the trailer. we'd like to thank all of our customers, vendors and industry partners for their continued support and helping us to become the number one performance wholesale distributor. for more information on term for turn14 distribution, you can visit us online at wwwturn14.com or check us out on Facebook and Instagram.

Turn 14 on Shopify - Fitment Buckets

hey there, it's time for another quick tip. so how do shoppers find parts in your store? well, today we're going to take a look at a tool called fitment buckets, and these are a very simple way to organize the parts in your store based on fitment. it's really good for mobile shopping, where you need a big button to mash so that you can find the parts for a partikular vehicle. what we're going to look at here is a section of mustangs, so mustangs by generation, but we want to be able to show the parts for each generation. so how do we do it? well, let's find out. [Music]. so what do we need today? well, you'll need to have your shopify store and the turn 14 app for shopify installed. once you have that, we can get to creating the buckets. and before we get started, it might be helpful just to make a clarification between year make model search and a bucket. so your mic model search is where you have a list of all the possible combinations of vehicles to search for, and it's very, very good for large catalogs. if you have a small catalog or if most of your shoppers are using mobile and they can't click so easily on combo boxes, then the fitment bucket is a good, simple solution. so how do we create a fitment bucket? well, first of all let's go to the buckets window and we can give it a name. so we're going to call this one ford mustangs before 2000.. so we can add that in. that's the name of the bucket. now we have to tell the system what kind of vehicles will fit into that bucket. i'm just going to say all mustangs here, so well, from, i guess, early days. so we'll pick the year, say 1964 to say 99. so we'll add that in. so now what this is telling system is that we want all mustangs between 1964 and 1999.. so we can go ahead and save that. that now commits it. so any brands that are loaded will automatikally go into those buckets. and i'm going to add another one here too. so let's say ford mustang after 2000. so we'll take the same approach here. we're going to load in the different types of fitment that we want to put into this bucket. and actually, by the way, they don't all have to be the same, so you could even have, you know, mustangs and chargers and other types of vehicles in there. the main thing is just to group them how you need them for your store. so i've just decided here that it's going to be good to have ford mustangs before and after 2000 and we'll also add in the shelby- or sorry, the svt. so ford mustang, svt cobra, we'll add that bucket. so we'll get our third one um. in this case i'm going to allow any year range, so we'll just leave those empty. but i'm going to pick the svt cobra and there's actually a few of them in here, so i'm going to add all three. so svt cobra, svt cobra, 10th anniversary and also the cobra r. so now that defines my uh cobra bucket. i've got my mustangs after 2000 and i've got my mustangs before 2000.. so i'm going to go ahead and save that now and that will handle the data part. so the collections and necessary tags will be created behind the scenes. but i still need to tell my theme where to find those um uh collections. so over here i've actually just opened up my um theme editor, uh. so there's this section here: pick your vehicle. but you can use any theme. really it doesn't have to be the debut theme, just as long as you have an ability to select a collection. and so in my pick your vehicle collection i'm going to select these new ones i've just added, so ford mustang, after 2000. so i'm going to select that one. so now it puts the picture. you can add pictures on the collections in the shopify editor. and the second one i'm going to put, let's see, let's put the svt, this one, here. so that's got my second one. and the third one i'm going to put the ones before 2000. so that makes sure we've got all three of them there. and so once i go select i can hit save. and now whenever a shopper clicks on one of these collections, it'll take the fitment bucket products. so actually let's take a quick sneak look here at the collections. so if i go to my shopify admin i go under collections. i can look for, actually right at the top here. okay, so let's say before 2000, uh, this will show the the collection. i can also set that image, but also gives me a clue as to which products are going to be in that collection, so we can see these have already been loaded up. the turn 14 app for shopify handles this for you and now i can reload my store- and i'm going to navigate down to the different uh options here that i've added in and just click. so now this collection is showing all ford mustang parts after 2000.. so we've got that list here. we can go back and then we can go to the svt section and we see the ones that fit the svt. so that's a really simple way to add navigation by vehicle in your shopify store. if you want something more complex, there's the fitment search integrations we have so with our partners. you can do really advanced year make, model search or category based search. this is really good for simple big buttons to press. so if you need any help, feel free to give us a call or drop an email and we'll be happy to help you out. thank you for your time. you.

Turn 14 on Shopify - How to use the Filter Report

hello, this is jay, from data here to there, and today's quick tip is about the power of filters. [Applause], [Music]. so filters can have a really big impact on how your store looks. you can pick exactly the products you want and leave out the ones that you don't want to sell. so one of the simplest ones is really just picking the brands that you want in the store. so the brand selector allows you to choose at a high level what brands you want and which ones you don't. the filters tab allows us to go into more detail. so here we can pick the exact fitment, so year make, model, sub model in your range that you want to carry in the store. so maybe you want all your motive: maybe american muscle or maybe japanese import, or maybe you want to have a selection of your own vehicle types, you know, based on year ranges and models. you can also select filters for your ltl shipping if you don't want to include products that have extra shipping charges. maybe you want to have special order products, maybe you want to bring in products that are universal fitment. you can set all of those filters here in this tab, and then the next one allows you to focus on the categories. so maybe there's uh. you know certain ones that you want to include, so maybe apparel, maybe engine components- in this case we're leaving out air intake systems. you can select and go through the ones that you want. you know, maybe you want to have a certain style of uh or like a niche of products in your store and you want to leave out other ones. category selection allows you to do that. so when we go to the product display, we can see the actual products that are loaded in. so here we've loaded uh, mishimoto parts, and you'll see there's maybe about- i think there's about- 40 or so in here, but actually there's way more mishimoto parts. so where did they all go? well, we can do a bit of a deep dive. we can go to the turn 14 distribution app for shopify and then we can go into the filters tab, and so here, if you click the report button, it'll generate a list of all of the products that did not get into your store, and so this is a good way to then find out. well, you know which parts did get excluded and why. so here we see the brand- so mishimoto- the individual part numbers and then why they're rejected. so in my test store i don't have ltl products enabled. so what this report is telling me is there's actually quite a few here that were rejected because i don't allow ltl, and then i've also turned off special order, so these ones are rejected too. and as we go through the list you can see that there's other category codes. so i didn't include uh fabrication in the clamp subcategory, i didn't include air intake systems, and so again this report is just telling me: uh well, that's why that product didn't get loaded. and also, too, if there's fitment that doesn't match my criteria, the report will tell me that too. so that's a quick way to do a diagnostik into why certain parts are loaded and why certain parts are left out, and i can address that too. so let's say, if i wanted to include ltl shipping and i want to allow products without images and all these other filters, i can turn them all on and then i can hit save. and then what it's going to do: the app will load those for me in the background and i'll have many more products in there. so that's a quick review there about fitments and then how to audit uh, the fitment filters. if you need any other help, feel free to give us a shout and have a great day. Turn 14 on Shopify - Backorders

what happens when my store sells something that can't be fulfilled right away. well, that's called a back order, and you may want these or you may not want them. so today, what we're going to do is take a closer look at what a back order is and how to configure the term 14 app for shopify to either allow this or not allow it. in an ideal world, there's infinite stok and every order that's raised in your store gets fulfilled right away, and there's no problems. but in the real world, uh, there's shortages, there's timing issues, there's other things that can get in the way of that- that perfect scenario. so what we're looking at here is a scenario where i had one in stok in my store and an order was created and sent to turn 14, except right at that moment, there was now zero in stok. so this is a kind of race condition. you can handle this in other ways by adjusting the stok levels. the turn 14 app for shopify synchronizes inventory quite frequently, so once an hour- but there are these cases where there'll be a mismatch, and so the default behavior for your app is to reject the order. so if there isn't stok available, then the order will be canceled. now you can override this and enable it in your store such that when that order is sent over, it'll become a back order and that means it will be delivered as soon as the quantity is available in the warehouse. so let's go over to the store and i'm going to open up my turn 14 app and right in the orders section there's a new feature. it's called allow back orders from your store and of course, this is disabled by default, but you can choose to enable it when we do that and save if an order comes in and there isn't stok for a partikular product. so let's imagine one of these items here in this order is actually just not in stok. what will happen is, uh, when we request the fulfillment, it'll go to turn 14 and when that stok is notiked is not being available, it'll put the order into back order, so that handles the the delivery end of it. now let's say you want to adjust your products uh, such that you can sell uh, even though there's no stok. so this is a slightly different scenario that we were toking about earlier. i was mentioning earlier was if there's a race condition and your store shows there's some in stok but there actually isn't. but let's say you're confident, uh, you can get the order fulfilled, maybe even have local inventory, or you're okay with using the back orders. there's this option here on the product display called continue selling when out of stok, so you can turn this on for the products, the brands. you can even do that for every product in the store and it'll allow shopify uh to sell or to add or the. the shopper will be able to add those into the cart, uh, even though there isn't stok. and if we go into the inventory section, this is where you can do. you know the bulk um options, so we'll just open up the term 14, distribution, api location, and so in here we can select a large group of them, we can add all their filter criteria and then do continue selling when out of stok right here, and so that saves you from having to click on every product individually and then over and over click. you know that option, so we can do it in bulk here. so if you have any other questions, uh, or if you're curious to know more about how inventory works and how our synchronization works, uh, feel free to give us a call or drop us an email. we'll be happy to help. you have a good day.
