How To Design A Shopify Store In 10 Minutes (Step-By-Step)
having a bad website will kill your chances of success on shopify, even if you have the best products and ads. it's so much harder to see results with a low quality store. so in this video, i'll be sharing the exact store template that i'm using right now to generate over a hundred thousand dollars a month, and i'll be showing you, step by step, exactly how to easily build one for yourself. if you're new here, my name is jordan and i'm currently documenting the entire process of growing my ecommerce brand with as much transparency as possible. so if you're interested in starting your own online business, make sure to subscribe for new videos every single friday. also just want to say thank you guys so much for 50 000 subscribers. so to give back to you guys, i'm gonna do something that i usually don't do. i'm gonna give away a free one-on-one coaching call to one of you. to enter the giveaway, just drop a comment down below, follow me on instagram and dm me. when you're done, i'll be announcing the winner for this next friday. anyways, let's get started with the video. first things first. here are some live results that i'm getting with this exact template. so, as you can see halfway through the day, i've already done over 2500 in sales and if we look at yesterday's stats, you can see that this store is averaging around five thousand dollars a day. everybody is always asking about profit, so let's take a look. yesterday i did around fifteen hundred dollars in profit and today, so far, halfway through the day, i'm at around in profit, which is close to 30 daily margin. i'm not showing this to brag, but just to prove that this layout is working. today, i figured the best way to explain this would be to make a sample store that follows this exact template, so that's what i did. let's have a look at that sample store. so this is a store that i created in the home and garden niche- the type of stores that i like to build to test products look just like this. basically, we're building a nice, clean, branded store with good logo, good images, multiple collections inside of that niche, high quality products and images and, overall, a trustworthy and legitimate feel. i get dms every single day of people asking me: why am i struggling to see results? and then i look at their store and it looks like this: if you take the time to make a nice, clean, branded website, seeing success with ecommerce is going to be so much easier. this kind of store is perfect for testing products because it is branded, it has a trustworthy feel, but it's also broad enough that you can test a variety of products without being too constrained. i like to call this kind of store a hybrid store. it basically bridges the gap between a general and niche store. building a store like this is really not that difficult, so i'm gonna break down how to do it right now. the first thing that you're gonna need to come up with is a clean name and logo. to come up with names, i highly recommend you guys check out this tool called lean domain search. basically, you can take any word or phrase that you like and plug it into here and they're gonna show you websites that are ready to go that have this word inside of it. so in my case, i used the word flora because it fit perfectly for the home and garden space, and i scrolled and scrolled until i found the name flora flow, which i really like. all of the names on this website are available to purchase for the com domain right away, so i would take some time and try to come up with at least five phrases that would fit with your branding. so now that you've come up with a name, you need to create a logo now. i know graphic design might be intimidating to a lot of you, but nowadays there are a ton of tools that make it incredibly simple. one of my favorite tools to do this is actually called canva. canva has a bunch of these logo templates already built into the app, and it's actually what i use to build the flora flow logo. you can literally scroll through their library and find a clean logo for your brand in seconds and know this video is not sponsored by them. i just really like their product. so, as you can see, the template that i use for the floraflow logo is right here. i literally typed in flower. i looked at the options, i found this one and i just simply typed in the logo name and then i made it a little bigger, centered it in the middle and i deleted the bottom and i made a logo for the brand in 10 seconds. now, look, it's going to take you longer than 10 seconds and you shouldn't rush the process, but i would highly advise you guys. use that tool to build your logo. i'm also a big fan of photoshop. for my brand that i'm running right now, i designed my logo in photoshop, but it's a lot more advanced and not very beginner friendly. once you've got a name and a logo, the next step is to build out a nice home page for your store. now, when you're running ads to this store, typically you're going to send people to the product pages. yeah, you might have a cool product, you might have a cool product page, but if your customer starts browsing around your website and they get a weird vibe, they're not going to spend money with you and even if they do, the chances of them remembering your brand and buying again are so slim. so this is the exact layout that i use for all of my home pages. let's break it down. there are a ton of themes to use on shopify and it can kind of be overwhelming. this store is actually built on the impulse theme, which is by far one of my favorite paid themes, and if you're looking for a good free theme, i recommend that you guys check out debutify. i've used both of them and personally i like impulse a little better, but if you're on a low budget, debutify is an amazing option. first things first. we need a nice and clean header. try to come up with something creative that introduces the people to your brand in a very inviting way. now i could have easily wrote the best products for your home and garden, but i think it's much better to put something that has a little bit more flair and life to it. so in this example, i put stylus essentials for the modern home designed to elevate your lifestyle. if you're struggling with copywriting, just go look at some of the biggest brands out there. in terms of this image and all the images on the site, shopify actually provides a bunch of really sick free images and a lot of people don't know about this. so if you go down to image and you click on change and you go to free images, you can search up almost anything. so in my case, i searched up flower and you'll see that shopify has a bunch of these really nice high quality images that they're constantly updating almost every single week, and they're really fire. the next thing i do is typically put one of our collections on display. in this case it's the best sellers, because those are my favorite products on the store, so i wanted to put those front and center and when they click on it, you're gonna see that these are our top selling products and a nice, clean, organized page. we also give them an offer with up to fifty 50 off on the select products, and it's just something that gives them some incentive to click and start shopping. the next thing that i really like to do is show some type of mission statement for the brand. i think that this really helps your customers connect with you and feel like they're a part of something greater than just buying a product. so you can see, what i put here is that we want to help over 10 000 people create their dream environment through providing our own unique products worldwide. now, this is going to be different for everybody, so make sure that you come with something unique for your brand. and once again, i just took the image directly from shopify. now, the next thing that i threw in here: it was just a promotion. you don't need to have this, but i included it because i thought it looked nice, so you can just see it's 50 off of our spring and summer collection. and then i just put a little blurb about stay at home and stay at peace with these essentials t.
Top 10 Shopify Apps You SHOULD BE Using In 2022 (E-commerce Tips)
hey, everyone davey here, welcome to our first video of 2022. today we're going to go through my 10 favorite shopify apps. shopify makes it so easy to install apps. it's one of its super powers. apps can increase conversion rate, increase average order value and make you a ton more money. apps need to come with the warnings, though. if you use the wrong apps, it can slow your website down and leave a ton of money off the table. for those that have been following along in our lemon scrub series, you know that we've got our website all set up. now it's time to install apps. if you haven't been following on, that's okay. i'm just going to use the lemon scrub as an example in this video. none of these apps have paid me for this video. there are a couple of affiliate links down below, but i'm going to give you lots of alternatives and outline the pricing so you can make the best choice for your business. let's get into it. the first app that we're going to cover today is perfect if your product is low average order value, so basically under 70 or so. with products like that, shipping costs a lot of money compared to the actual revenue that you can bring in per order. the app is called ship scout. it's always difficult to understand when you launch your product whether you should offer free shipping or charge a little bit. free shipping should be more appealing to customers and therefore increase your conversion rate, so the more people that go to your store will actually end up checking out. a lot of brands will actually just add the cost of shipping onto the price of their product, making their product just a little bit more expensive. to cover that cost, what ship scout does is it allows you to actually split test that concept. what this allows you to do is actually test shipping thresholds. for lemon scrub, for example, if we're selling for 40 and we have a free shipping over 50 offer on the header bar, it would entike people to actually purchase two of the product, drastikally increasing our average order value. naturally, with all split tests, if you're trying to raise prices- which in this case you are- for the people that only wanted to buy one lemon scrub because you're going to charge them shipping, you should expect a conversion rate decrease because less people buy, because there's less value. i've been following along on twitter and there's been some really strange results for this app. not only have people been receiving an aov increase with their orders, but a lot of people are actually reporting that conversion rate also increases, which is completely counterintuitive. one theory behind this is users are just thinking they're getting a better deal with a free shipping offer over the threshold. if you're currently charging free shipping and you've got low margin products where people can buy a couple of them, i definitely recommend trying it out. to find the app, all we need to do is go to the app store right in ship scout and it's just here. there isn't a huge amount of reviews on it yet because i do think it is still early. the reviews are good. we can just add the app. as you can see, it's 49 a month and a seven day free trial. so maybe try to run a significant test within that seven days to hedge your bets. as with installing all new apps, if you are doing a lot of traffic through your store, you may need to vet the app from a speed perspective first. you can have a dummy store and install the app and check the speed in google analytiks. one disclaimer about this app is that you will need to be using the advanced shopify plan, which is 299 dollars a month. so if you are a new brand, then it may not be right for you. one option is that you can upgrade your shopify plan to the 299 option, use the free trial of ship scout at the same time and then just revert your shopify plan back. so the actual cost of using the shopify app is just the difference between the basic and the advanced shopify plan. the next app that i highly recommend that you use this year is called dexter, or neat a b test. both of these apps are incredible at split testing pricing. pricing is one of the most underrated split tests that entrepreneurs just refuse to do. there's a few reasons why they refuse to do this. firstly, they're worried that customers will see both pricing. this is very unlikely. even if you're a huge brand, customers definitely don't pay this much attention to your business. much like ship scout, price changes will affect a few things. they'll affect conversion rate, but they'll also increase the revenue that we can create per visitors. so therefore the profits. i suggest using these apps to split test pricing in intervals that are relative to the product price. for example, if your product is around fifty dollars, split test the pricing by five to ten dollars. if your products five hundred dollars, maybe you wanna split test by fifty dollars. this is great to do early on, but also as your brand adapts over time, especially with the current fears of inflation, what will happen is prices will go up across the board. this is the perfect opportunity for you to raise prices because your suppliers, your freight forwarders and your couriers- they're all raising their prices. so you need to pass those costs on. reasonable price raises shouldn't affect your brand as much as you think. one of the worst things that you can do is just constantly keep absorbing those costs until your business stops being profitable and therefore you actually go out of business. so to find these apps, i'll start with neat a b test. neat a forward slash b, and it should be this first one just here. so it's got 39 reviews. you can see the dexter app is an ad above it, um, which is the other one that i have used. um, that's that one is actually charged out at 3.99 per 100 visitors approximately. so the more people that you use the split test with, they'll actually charge you, which can add up to be quite expensive, but it is a really effective app. i like it. and neat a b testing is around 29 a month, um, and you get the the 14 day trial there as well, so i'm just going to add that up to our store so we can use it later. the other option that you do have with split testing is to use a big, robust tool like google optimize or optimizely. google optimize is free, but it is quite hard to use. you will need to use something like google tag manager to set up events. if you've got a clothing store, google optimize can be a really good way to split test all your pricing at once. you can actually duplicate all your products and create a split test, pushing people to one collection page of one pricing and the other page with the new pricing. these apps that i just mentioned, though, are far simpler, and you can just test single product variants very, very easily. the next app that i recommend is okendo. these guys are doing some really cool stuff. reviews are incredibly important to make your shopify look trustworthy and increase conversion rate. a kendo seems to be a really robust tool that is offering lots of customizable review options, so, for example, if you're a clothing store, you can actually ask people to review things like the fit- is it true to size, or even the softness- is it comfortable? these reviews can then be paired with photos and videos to really make sure that the customer believes the review is real and guide their decision making. a kendo starts at around 29 a month. the alternative that a lot of people use is luke's. however, what seems to be happening with luke's is a lot of dropshippers are actually using the brand, which is decreasing the credibility. there are a lot of review apps out there. make sure that your one isn't slowing down the website speed so we can come into here and go ekendo and you can see the product reviews right here. it's got 424 reviews at 5 stars. people are loving it. the customer service is really, really strong. the alternative they did mention was luke's, which is here. it's obviously far more popular at this stage. definitely hit scale, but a kendo might catch it. luke's is cheaper, at 9.99 a mont.

So make sure you watch this video till the end to learn how to do it. I am Bryan from Website Learners, and let’s start creating our ecommerce website Now. to create an ecommerce website, First you need to create an account on Shopify. So to create the account on Shopify, Just click the link below this video and it will take you to this page. Now to create an account, Click here And enter your email address. Now click ‘start free trial’ And you will get this page. Now enter a password for your account, So you will need this to log in to your website. Now here you need to enter the name for your store. So I'm going to call my store as ‘Gotokloth’. Now this will also become your website's address. So, for example, if you enter ‘Gotokloth’, your website address will be ‘Gotokloth’myshopifycom? Once you’ve entered these details, Click ‘create your store’ And you will get this page. Now, to complete creating your account, Fill up all these details and then click ‘enter my store’ And now you will get this page. Once you reach this page, it means that you have now successfully created your Shopify account. So Once you have created your Shopify account, your website will also be created. So to check that, let’s open a new tab And type our website address, Which is ‘the name of your store’: DOT, myshopifycom. So I’m going to type gotoklothmyshopifycom. And now, if you press enter, you can see that we have now got our website. So right now we have 2 pages, which is our homepage & our ‘products’ page. Now, if you scroll down, you can see that our site is empty. So Once you’ve got your website, We can now start building it. So we’re going to build our site in just 2 parts. The first part is to ‘Set up your store’ A store is the place where your customers can look at all your products and then purchase them. So once you set up your store, your site will have your own products and your visitors will be able to purchase them. So we are going to set up our store in just 5 steps. The first step is to log in to your Shopify website. So to log in to your website, all you have to do is Just go to your website address And then type /admin. Now this is the address, which will take you to the admin page of your website. So now, if you press enter, You can see that we’re on the admin page where we can control our website. So once you’ve logged in, we can now go to step 2, of setting up our store, which is to ‘add your products to your site’. So to add products, Just click products And click ‘add product’ And it will take you to this page where you need to add the details about your product. So, to add a product to your site, Just enter your product name. here, As I want to sell a T-shirt, I'm going to enter T-shirt, And here you need to enter the details of the product. So lets do that Once you finish entering the details. Now here you need to add an image of the product. So to do that, Just drag an image from your computer and then drop it here. Next, you need to enter the price of the product. So I’m going to enter ‘50$’. Finally, here you need to enter the number of products that are available. So Lets say you have 10 pieces of this product Available in stok, Then just enter 10. here I’m going to enter 10. So, after adding the details of the product, Just scroll up and click ‘save’. And now the product has been successfully added to your website. So if we go to our product page And click ‘refresh’, you can see that we now have our product here. And now, if you click on the product, You can see that we can now buy this product. So this is how you can add a product to your website. In the same way, you can add any number of products you want to your website. Okay, Now, if we click ‘buy now’, You can see that we’re getting this message Which says ‘checkout is not available’ So this means your customers will not be able to buy products from your website. So to let customers buy products from our site, we need to choose a plan for our Shopify account. So let’s go to step 3, which is to ‘Choose a plan on Shopify'. So to do that, let’s go back to Shopify Now, click ‘home’ and then click ‘select a plan’. Now here you can see 3 different plans which you can choose from. You can take a look at these features and select the one you want. I’m going to select this one Now. here you need to choose how often you want to make the payment. I’m going to choose every 30 days. Now, to choose this plan, Let’s click ‘add credit card’ And here it will ask you to enter your card details. Now, if you continue using shopify after 14 days, then your card will be charged. So let’s enter our card details And then click ‘confirm’. Okay, So now we have successfully chosen our plan, which means we can now see our checkout page. So now, if we go to our product page and click ‘buy now’, You can see that we have now got our checkout page And we can add our shipping details. Okay, So let’s enter our details and click ‘continue to shipping' Now, here you can see that we have NO option to make payment. So in order to allow customers to pay for your products, you need to set up your payment method. So next let's go to the step 4, [of setting up our store], which is to set up our payment method. So to set it up, Let’s go back to Shopify. Now click ‘settings’ And then click ‘payments'. Now, here you will find several payment options which you can add to your site. If Shopify payment option is available in your country, You can activate this payment. But If you don't have this option, Just scroll down, select third-party providers And you will find more payment methods which you can add to your site. I’m going to choose ‘stripe’, which is a popular payment method, So lets click that and you will get this page. Now here. you need to fillup these details, So lets do that. Now scroll down, Fillup your bank details where you want to receive your payment. Now, when someone buys a product from your site, the money will be sent to this account, Okay. Next, let’s enter our email and give a password for our stripe account. Now, Once you’ve entered all of these details, Click authorize access to this account. As you can see, we’ve added a payment method to our website, So this means our payment setup is now complete. now, if we go to our checkout page And click ‘refresh’, you can see that, instead of the error message, we can now pay using our card. So now we've successfully set up our payment method. Okay. So, once you’ve set up your payment method, We can go to the final step of setting up our store, which is to ‘Make your site available to your Visitors’. Now, if we open a new browser window And go to our website, You can see that Our site is not yet visible. So, to make your site visible to others, You need to change a setting in Shopify. So to change that setting, Let’s go back to Shopify And click ‘online store’. Now, here you can see that our site is password protected, which means no one else can see it right now. Now, to make your site visible to your visitors, Click ‘disable password’ and it will take you to this page. Now, here, disable this option And click ‘Save’. So now your website will be visible to your customers. So now, if we go back to this tab and click ‘refresh’, You can see that our site is now available to our visitors. Now, if you go to store, we can now see the product we added. So now we've successfully completed setting up our store, And this means anyone who is visiting your site will now be able to buy your products. Now let’s try to buy a product from our site. sell your products, and in today's video, we are covering everything that has to do with the front end design of your store. so we're going to be toking about how you can design banners using my favorite tool, canva. we're going to be toking about how you can create your collection images, how to set up your menu items and your whole entire navigation. i'm going to be sharing with you some design keys that your website needs. so if you're interested in any of that stuff, make sure that you stay tuned for the entire video, and if you just want to learn how to do one over the other, i am going to be putting chapters down below so that you can click the specific chapter that you're interested in learning and start from there before we hop to the computer. i want to share with you my design keys for designing a high converting website, and these are the design keys that i actually share with my ehasa club members, which is my monthly group coaching program, where we meet twice a month for a live class and q and a session, and they get a bunch of different resources, ebooks and past classes and bonus classes within their dashboard. so the ehos club is something that you're interested in. then you definitely want to click the link in my description box and join the e-hustle club. but the three design keys that i live by are that your website needs to be informative, interactive and intuitive, and you need to do this by making sure that your website is well branded, user friendly and it's set up to be a conversion machine. if you're interested in learning what i mean by any of those, you definitely want to go ahead and join the e-hustle club, because we actually did a class on how to design a high converting website and you don't want to miss out on that. but for today's video, i am going to show you the basics of how you can design a banner: collection, images, navigational options and all that jazz. now we can head to the computer. so first let's go ahead and start off with our banners. um, to do this, you're going to log into your shopify account and then you're going to click online store. once you click online store, your themes are going to automatikally be selected and the theme that you have at the top that's published, will be here. but remember, i added a new theme that i wanted to use, which was boundless. so all i would do is then click customize so that i can start customizing this theme. okay, so i have already clicked customize and they have already opened up into a new tab for me, and this is pretty much what it looks like. so once you get here, there's kind of like an outline of what shopify things you should do with your store. so you have like the basic banner area, then you have a menu area. they tell you you can write about your brand right here, and then they have like your newsletter stuff, and i already actually added my collection list, but let's just ignore that. but this is the basics of what shopify gives you. with the boundless theme, now, every theme is going to look different when it comes to the template. it just depends on what you pick. i picked about this theme because i love the kind of full sized kind of view that it gave me for my banner option. okay, so on the left hand side are all of the sections of your actual website that you can edit. so you see that you can edit your sidebar menu here. you can also edit your header, which is the announcement part. right here. you can edit your slideshow, which is this empty part right here, and then you can also edit your action bar, which is actually kind of like on this theme, it's kind of like your horizontal menu. but then you also have a sidebar menu, which is pretty cool, and then, um, down here, where it says tok about your brand is actually the rich, the rich text, and you have your home page, kind of collection, and then you have an area for people to join your newsletter and then, like i said, i added this myself. now, if you want to add a section, all you do is click add and section and then you can pick what you want. so you can add like blog posts, uh, collection list, which is something i added already, which is the list of a couple of collections i'm going to add to my site. you can highlight a featured collection. you can have an image with text over it. highlight a featured product. add another optin for newsletter. add a map for your store, add additional text video and then, if you know what you're doing, you know how to custom code. you can add custom html, which is super cool. so you can do a lot. so, even though they give you kind of like a pre-determined template, you can pretty much add whatever you want to it and you can also remove what you want. so for me, i'm not going to use this tok about your brand area. so all i'll do is i'll either click this section and then click remove section or, if i'm thinking i might want to use it later, i can just click the option to hide it and i could click it to show it if i wanted to pop back up. so that's pretty much, uh, what i like to do. if i think i may use something in the future, i'll just like hide it and then just add it back in the future if i want it. if not, i'll just do the remove section option by going here and then hitting remove section. now nothing you do is really permanent. permanent because you can add another section and add it back. but just know that anything that you do- so if you had typed something into the actual paragraph that was there and you saved it and then decided to delete it, shopify has absolutely no recollection of what you typed. so that means once you add it back, you're going to have to type it over again. but if you do want to keep what you typed, then all you would do is toggle on and off the eye so that it could show when you wanted it to, and then, if you wanted to hide it, you can hide it by clicking that. okay, but first what we're going to do is we're going to design this banner area right here. i actually utilize photoshop a lot, but for the sake of this video, i'm going to be utilizing canva. so i love canva. i use canva a lot, a lot, a lot for a lot of different things, okay. so pretty much what you're going to do is you're going to go into canva and then i am going to use the dimensions of 1880 by 940px. okay, so make sure it's selected as px and not inches or centimeters or something else. make sure that it's px if you're following this verbatim. i love using 1880 by 940 because it gives me a large enough space for me to do a lot of things with um, but then it just looks better to me on websites. so i like to use 1880 by uh, 940 um for the most part. sometimes i'll do 1280 by 720, but it just really depends on what i'm designing. but for today i'm going to use 1880 by 940. so once you're in canva, all you have to do is hit create a design and then it will pop up and you can either select from templates that they already have or you can actually put in your own custom dimensions. so for the sake of this, i'm putting in my custom dimensions and then i'm going to hit create a design. once i hit create a design, it's going to pretty much load up, kind of like a blank canvas for me to utilize. so it's going to load up a blank canvas. i have already put in my colors into this canvas, so, but yours would be completely blank. so these are specific color codes that i've already predetermined. i wanted for my brand and i've already came into canva making sure that i put in, i inputted these colors, okay, so the way that you would know your exact color codes for.
