wholesale dropshipping business

Published on: June 19 2023 by pipiads

Over the past five years, I have built a seven-figure drop shipping business selling on Amazon and eBay. In this article, I will be sharing my process and how to get started with wholesale drop shipping.

Step 1: Set up your business

- You can either do this as a sole proprietor or form a legal business entity.

- Forming a legal business entity creates separation between your business assets and personal ones, which helps prevent issues in case of a lawsuit.

- The most common entity is an LLC, which can be formed online or by yourself.

- Get an EIN (Employer Identification Number) which acts as your business's social security number and helps you apply for platforms like Amazon and Walmart.

Step 2: Find great suppliers for your business

- Three common ways are using Google and other search engines, attending trade shows, or looking at competitors.

- Use specific keywords to find the best results on Google.

- Attend trade shows in person or look at their exhibitor list online.

- Look at competitors who sell items from suppliers who dropship and contact them to open a wholesale account.

Step 3: Vet suppliers and open a wholesale account

- Make sure the suppliers fit with your business and ask for a wholesale account after vetting.

- Apply for a wholesaler with your business information and a copy of your resale certificate.

These are just a few steps in getting started with wholesale drop shipping. It's essential to research and vet suppliers carefully to ensure they fit with your business. With hard work and dedication, you can build a successful drop shipping business.

Despite successful dropshipping case studies, many people believe that dropshipping is dead and that it is too late to start a successful store. However, this article aims to debunk these myths and shed light on the truth about dropshipping in 2020.

Assumption 1: It's Too Late

- Successful dropshipping stores are usually built around selling products that spike an emotion in a customer that makes them think, I need to buy this right now.

Assumption 2: Epacket Rate Killed Dropshipping

- People assume that increasing Epacket rate kills dropshipping.

- However, after the threat of Donald Trump to pull the USA out of the UPU, the UPU scrambled to strike a deal with the USA, and ePacket is still available.

- Additionally, AliExpress has come up with its own alternative, and more and more AliExpress suppliers are opening up their own fulfillment centers in the USA.

Assumption 3: Dropshipping is Saturated

- People assume that dropshipping is saturated.

- However, dropshipping is simply a way to fulfill products, and market saturation is a product problem, not a fulfillment problem.

- Successful dropshippers sell unsaturated products.

Assumption 4: Most People Who Dropship Will Fail

- People assume that most people who dropship will fail because of marketing.

- However, the main reason why 99% of people fail is not because they don't have enough knowledge about Facebook ads.

Best 18 Suppliers For Private Label, Wholesale And Dropshipping

If you want to start an online store, you need to know where to find wholesale suppliers and manufacturers. Should you search on Google? Should you attend a trade show? Should you import from China? Where can you find dropship suppliers, wholesalers, and factories to manufacture your products? These are the questions that many entrepreneurs ask when starting an e-commerce business.

In this article, we will discuss the best ways to find wholesale suppliers and manufacturers depending on whether you sell dropship products, wholesale products, or private label products. We will also provide you with some tips on how to find the best wholesale vendors in the United States and China.

Finding Dropship Suppliers:

Dropshipping is an e-commerce business model where you don't have to stock any inventory for the products you sell. Whenever an order comes in, you simply place the exact same order to your dropshipper and then collect the profit based on the difference in price. Your dropshipping supplier handles the entire fulfillment process, and all you have to do is take orders and perform customer service.

Here are the best places to find wholesale vendors that dropship:

1. Worldwide Brands: A directory of wholesale suppliers who dropship in the US and Canada. There are over 16 million products offered on this platform that range from apparel, consumer electronics, beauty products, office products, and more. There is a one-time membership fee of $299 to access the directory.

2. SaleHoo: A wholesale supplier directory of dropshippers that cater to international clients. As a result, many of the wholesale suppliers found on SaleHoo are not from the US. They boast over 8,000 trusted dropshipping suppliers that sell over 2.5 million products and brands across a variety of categories, including consumer electronics, health and beauty, pet suppliers, and more. SaleHoo charges a one-time access fee of $127 or an annual membership fee of $67.

3. Doba: An all-in-one wholesale supplier for dropshipping that is both a directory and a marketplace. On Doba, you'll find thousands of dropshipping vendors to source your products for your e-commerce business, and once you find a wholesale supplier, Doba also manages all your ordering and fulfillment operations. Doba charges a monthly fee ranging from $25 to $299, depending on the plan that you choose.

4. Spocket: A directory of wholesale vendors willing to dropship on your behalf. Most of the suppliers on their platform are from the US or the EU, and the product quality is top-notch. Using their app, you can instantly add products you find on Spocket to your Shopify store, and when an order comes in, it is electronically sent to Spocket, where they handle inventory management and order fulfillment. Spocket charges a membership fee that starts at $25 a month.

Finding Print on Demand Wholesale Vendors:

Print on demand is actually a form of dropshipping where you work with the supplier to print your own custom designs on white-label products like t-shirts, mugs, and pillows. Here are the top three print on demand wholesale vendors to work with:

1. Printful: They offer a large selection of products to choose from, and they print all their own goods in-house with fast turnaround times, and their print quality is excellent.

2. Printify: They have a network of print providers in over 90 locations in the US, UK, Australia, Germany, and China. The print quality that you receive can be hit or miss depending on the specific provider you work with.

3. Custom Cat: A vertically integrated print on demand company like Printful that does all their own printing in-house. However, they do have a significantly smaller product selection compared to Printful.

Finding Wholesale Vendors in the United States:

The simplest way to find a small business wholesale supplier in the US is by Googling the company of the product you want to sell, going on their website, and then finding out who their wholesale distributors are. Smaller companies typically won't have distributors and will sell to you directly. Wholesale discounts are usually on the order of 30 to 50% off MSRP, and depending on the item and the brand, the minimum order can be as low as $100.

Here are the best ways to find wholesale suppliers in the US:

1. ReferenceUSA: A database of every registered business in the US that can be accessed to find wholesale vendors and factories in the US. Best part is that it's 100% free. The only catch is that ReferenceUSA can only be accessed at your local library.

2. ThomasNet: A searchable database of US suppliers that caters to industrial and commercial companies. ThomasNet contains detailed information for every wholesale supplier, including their size, annual sales, product information, certifications, and more. ThomasNet is 100% free.

3. WholesaleCentral: A wholesale directory that contains a list of wholesale companies and trade shows in the United States. The best way to find and meet with multiple wholesale vendors in a short period is by attending a trade show. WholesaleCentral sorts every show by category, and you can easily find a niche-specific convention to attend.

Breaking Down My Wholesale Dropshipping Business | What is Wholesale Dropshipping?

Hey guys, what's going on and welcome back to the channel! I haven't made a video in a while, but I am rolling out a new YouTube schedule where I will be uploading two videos a week. If you're not already subscribed, be sure to hit the subscribe button so you can be notified whenever I upload a new video.

For today's video, I'm going to be addressing a Facebook post that I actually posted inside my Facebook group. The link for that is in the description. That was a complete breakdown of my wholesale dropshipping business.

Business Model:

My business model is sourcing from wholesale suppliers. There are different types of suppliers that I will source from. Mainly, I work with brands and importers. Brands make their own product or get it from China and then they slap their logo on it. I will be a representative or an authorized reseller for these brands and then resell their products onto Amazon or onto any marketplace that they allow. Importers have the products made overseas and then they just sell the products to other businesses.

Fulfillment:

Most of the companies that I work with are sourced via dropshipping. This is where I don't house any of the inventory. Rather, when I make a sale, I send the information over to my supplier and my supplier ships it out to my customer. Over the years, I've slowly been growing more towards buying in bulk and more specifically FBA.

Private Label:

Private label is different than dropshipping or wholesale because I'm going to be creating a product from scratch or more or less what I do is I source from all these wholesale suppliers and I see what products are doing well.

Sales Channels:

I currently sell on Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, my own website, and smaller marketplaces like Bonanza, Mercari, Poshmark, etc.

Software and Logistics:

For software, you're going to want a good omni-channel software that can import your items correctly, keep track of in and out of stock, push out the items to the channels that you are selling on, and do auto ordering. For accounting, I use Quickbooks as well as Webagility. The last component is logistics and this is going to be things like warehouse, shipping, having employees, and assistance.

Running a wholesale dropshipping business is not easy, but it's something that I really want to grow. By working with wholesale suppliers, I'm building relationships for the long term.
