Why I QUIT Dropshipping On Walmart

Published on: December 6 2022 by Noah Mincis

Dropshipping has become a popular business model in recent years, allowing entrepreneurs to start an online store without holding any inventory. One of the platforms that has gained attention is Walmart, with its vast customer base and well-known brand. However, after my personal experience with dropshipping on Walmart, I decided to quit. In this article, I will share the reasons behind my decision and the lessons I learned.

Reasons why I quit dropshipping on Walmart:

1. Limited product selection: Walmart's product selection for dropshipping is limited, and the process to add new products to your store can be time-consuming and frustrating.

2. Unreliable suppliers: Finding reliable suppliers is crucial for dropshipping success, but Walmart's supplier system is not as organized as other platforms. Many of the suppliers I worked with had poor communication and inconsistent shipping times.

3. High competition: With Walmart being such a popular platform, the competition among dropshippers is high. It can be challenging to stand out and make sales.

4. Customer service issues: Walmart's customer service is not as efficient as other platforms, and it can be challenging to get help with order issues or returns.

5. Profit margins: With Walmart's low pricing strategy, it can be challenging to make a decent profit margin on products.

Lessons learned:

1. Research the platform and suppliers thoroughly before starting a dropshipping business.

2. Focus on finding reliable suppliers with excellent communication and efficient shipping times.

3. Find a niche with less competition to stand out in the marketplace.

4. Provide excellent customer service to build a loyal customer base.

5. Calculate the profit margins carefully before choosing a platform.

Although Walmart is a popular platform, dropshipping on it comes with its challenges. As an entrepreneur, it is essential to evaluate the pros and cons of each platform before starting a business. While my experience with dropshipping on Walmart was not successful, it taught me valuable lessons that I will apply to my future endeavors.

Why I QUIT Dropshipping On Walmart

Title: Why I Stopped Drop Shipping on Walmart

In late 2019, I started selling on Walmart and it quickly became one of the largest sales channels for my business. However, about a year ago, Walmart changed their policies for dealing with returns and reimbursements, which had a significant impact on my business.

Reasons for Stopping Drop Shipping on Walmart:

1. Walmart changed their policies for handling claims about returns, passing the cost onto the seller.

2. Even with sufficient proof, Walmart does not automatically reimburse sellers for lost after delivery and lost in transit cases.

3. Buyers claiming items were never received or lost in transit is rampant on Walmart.

Alternative Solution:

I will continue selling on Walmart through WFS (Walmart Fulfillment Service), which is similar to Amazon FBA. Walmart stores and ships the products and handles returns, making it more scalable and manageable for my business.

While drop shipping on Walmart was a promising opportunity, the changes in their policies made it unprofitable for my business. However, WFS offers a promising alternative and I plan on adding it as a sales channel.
