00:00:00 00:00:07 hey then why would you do that geez
00:00:01 00:00:08 you're such an idiot yo what's going on
00:00:07 00:00:10 everyone hating you're coming back at
00:00:08 00:00:13 you with the brand new video and in this
00:00:10 00:00:15 one I've got a little bit of a story
00:00:13 00:00:17 time video okay this is something I
00:00:15 00:00:18 wanted to bring up I haven't mentioned
00:00:17 00:00:20 it it all happened about three months
00:00:18 00:00:22 ago I actually got like I think this is
00:00:20 00:00:24 it is my first real job offer you know
00:00:22 00:00:26 aside from people wanting so you know
00:00:24 00:00:28 hire me to do little things I mean like
00:00:26 00:00:29 I'm gonna go through it explain on this
00:00:28 00:00:31 but someone wanted me to move and
00:00:29 00:00:33 relocate somewhere else at the time I
00:00:31 00:00:35 wasn't living in Newport so again I'm
00:00:33 00:00:36 explain the time frame but they wanted
00:00:35 00:00:37 me to come and work for their company
00:00:36 00:00:39 they were offering me twenty thousand
00:00:37 00:00:41 dollars a month two flat salary with the
00:00:39 00:00:44 potential to go up as their business
00:00:41 00:00:45 grew as well so no equity no nothing it
00:00:44 00:00:47 was really interesting I've never been
00:00:45 00:00:48 offered that but it was very serious
00:00:47 00:00:51 like we got on a call I didn't really
00:00:48 00:00:52 consider taking it so let me run through
00:00:51 00:00:54 and explain this I know it's it's unique
00:00:52 00:00:56 to have this happen obviously at 18
00:00:54 00:00:58 years old this was three months ago
00:00:56 00:00:59 so this was like I think the same week
00:00:58 00:01:02 that I was coming back from Amsterdam
00:00:59 00:01:04 went to Minnesota to surprise my family
00:01:02 00:01:05 and then came back out to LA and that's
00:01:04 00:01:08 when I went ahead and got my place in
00:01:05 00:01:09 Newport Beach so they offered me first
00:01:08 00:01:10 of all so you know rundown on the
00:01:09 00:01:11 company I'm not gonna say who it is
00:01:10 00:01:13 obviously because that's just
00:01:11 00:01:15 disrespectful and privacy it was a
00:01:13 00:01:18 marketing I don't want to fully say an
00:01:15 00:01:21 agency it was a bigger like marketing
00:01:18 00:01:23 brand company down in Miami Florida so I
00:01:21 00:01:24 wouldn't have been completely opposed to
00:01:23 00:01:26 it because I've always been okay with
00:01:24 00:01:28 living in Miami I actually almost moved
00:01:26 00:01:29 there when I was 16 I spent over a month
00:01:28 00:01:31 and a half there and I was there pretty
00:01:29 00:01:33 much every week consecutively for like
00:01:31 00:01:36 three or four months so essentially this
00:01:33 00:01:37 company runs marketing for all sorts of
00:01:36 00:01:38 you know different brands different
00:01:37 00:01:41 companies they do a lot with personal
00:01:38 00:01:43 brands influencers models the fitness
00:01:41 00:01:45 space and it was kind of funny to me
00:01:43 00:01:46 because they wanted to hire me I think
00:01:45 00:01:49 the position I was gonna be in you know
00:01:46 00:01:50 this company probably does I would say
00:01:49 00:01:52 close to a million dollars a month
00:01:50 00:01:54 revenue maybe like seven eight hundred
00:01:52 00:01:56 that was kind of the vibe I was getting
00:01:54 00:01:57 like 8 to 10 million a year and they
00:01:56 00:01:58 wanted me to be like the head of their
00:01:57 00:01:59 marketing right like run all that
00:01:58 00:02:01 because they could see what I was doing
00:01:59 00:02:03 and it was funny because I'm like wait a
00:02:01 00:02:06 minute the scratch on my head and I'm
00:02:03 00:02:07 like you're a marketing agency you know
00:02:06 00:02:08 I was literally sitting there like
00:02:07 00:02:10 scratching my head like not
00:02:08 00:02:12 understanding how this even makes sense
00:02:10 00:02:14 right they're a marketing agency that's
00:02:12 00:02:15 what they do
00:02:14 00:02:17 yet they needed me to come in and do
00:02:15 00:02:19 their marketing so it wasn't necessarily
00:02:17 00:02:21 a red flag you know people always want
00:02:19 00:02:22 to level up I guess and you'll get
00:02:21 00:02:24 better people on board with projects
00:02:22 00:02:25 totally understandable but it is just
00:02:24 00:02:27 kind of funny they were gonna put me in
00:02:25 00:02:28 the top position right there as like the
00:02:27 00:02:29 president or the you know whatever the
00:02:28 00:02:32 chairman of marketing whatever position
00:02:29 00:02:33 I guess it was called so they offer me
00:02:32 00:02:35 again it was no equity just twenty
00:02:33 00:02:36 thousand flat a month that would have
00:02:35 00:02:38 been on a salary base and it could start
00:02:36 00:02:40 going up as well as the business scaled
00:02:38 00:02:41 because what I'm doing as a marketing
00:02:40 00:02:43 person and they had a lot of employees
00:02:41 00:02:45 that I would have been directing as I
00:02:43 00:02:47 let them go ahead I teach them all the
00:02:45 00:02:49 skills that go through and build the
00:02:47 00:02:51 business then my income would also go up
00:02:49 00:02:53 so I didn't consider this I did not
00:02:51 00:02:55 consider I did not I did not I did not
00:02:53 00:02:56 because of a financial situation I
00:02:55 00:02:59 wanted to hear what they had to say
00:02:56 00:03:00 because it was just intriguing to me you
00:02:59 00:03:02 know I've never had that it was really
00:03:00 00:03:03 interesting I didn't really expect to
00:03:02 00:03:06 ever take you know twenty thousand a
00:03:03 00:03:07 month I make that on a good day so for
00:03:06 00:03:11 me it just would not have simply made
00:03:07 00:03:12 sense and here's what I probably still
00:03:11 00:03:14 wouldn't have taken it even if this
00:03:12 00:03:17 wasn't the case but I would not have
00:03:14 00:03:19 been able to build or work on or consult
00:03:17 00:03:21 with or do anything relating to any sort
00:03:19 00:03:23 of competing company so none of my
00:03:21 00:03:26 friends companies none of the agencies
00:03:23 00:03:27 none of my own so I would not have had
00:03:26 00:03:29 that potential so essentially at this
00:03:27 00:03:30 point I'm taking no equity in a business
00:03:29 00:03:33 that's what this situation would have
00:03:30 00:03:35 been I'm getting a salary where I own
00:03:33 00:03:37 nothing I can be fired and I'm not
00:03:35 00:03:40 building for the long term so that's why
00:03:37 00:03:41 I did not even consider it at all but
00:03:40 00:03:43 this was really funny it's what kind of
00:03:41 00:03:45 why I wanted to share with you I'm
00:03:43 00:03:47 always focused and even if they had
00:03:45 00:03:49 offered me a hundred thousand I don't
00:03:47 00:03:50 have taken it just due to the timeframe
00:03:49 00:03:53 of the contract the fact that I'm
00:03:50 00:03:55 getting zero equity and it's like it's
00:03:53 00:03:56 I'm building someone else's dreams you
00:03:55 00:03:57 know so this give me a shorter video I
00:03:56 00:03:59 just wanted to share that real quick
00:03:57 00:04:01 because this is something where if you
00:03:59 00:04:02 guys are trying to make a short-term
00:04:01 00:04:04 decision like this would not even have
00:04:02 00:04:05 been a decision because it wasn't enough
00:04:04 00:04:07 money it's as simple as that they then
00:04:05 00:04:09 offered me five hundred thousand dollars
00:04:07 00:04:11 a month or a million a month yeah I
00:04:09 00:04:13 probably would not be in California
00:04:11 00:04:14 right now but you know I'd be quitting
00:04:13 00:04:17 down the road but the whole thing of not
00:04:14 00:04:18 working with competing companies that
00:04:17 00:04:20 from you is kind of what like freaked me
00:04:18 00:04:22 out again it was the money piece that
00:04:20 00:04:23 there was it didn't make any sense so I
00:04:22 00:04:24 want you guys to know that long term
00:04:23 00:04:25 versus short term that's huge it's kind
00:04:24 00:04:28 of the whole point I want to deal with
00:04:25 00:04:30 this actually at the beginning of this
00:04:28 00:04:32 year in 2018 I turned down a six-figure
00:04:30 00:04:33 a month it wasn't necessarily uh I was
00:04:32 00:04:35 not being hired for anything it was a
00:04:33 00:04:37 contract it would have locked me in all
00:04:35 00:04:39 the way through all of 2018 twelve
00:04:37 00:04:40 months and I definitely would have
00:04:39 00:04:42 immediately been making six figures a
00:04:40 00:04:44 month but I turned it down I'm not gonna
00:04:42 00:04:46 explain what that is I maybe I can in
00:04:44 00:04:47 another video but that was one of those
00:04:46 00:04:50 things where it would not have made
00:04:47 00:04:52 sense long term short term sure it would
00:04:50 00:04:53 have been a quick hundred thousand
00:04:52 00:04:55 that's 1.2 million dollars a year before
00:04:53 00:04:57 tax like it's tough to say no to that
00:04:55 00:04:59 and I was literally pulling my hair out
00:04:57 00:05:01 pissed off like do I take this do I not
00:04:59 00:05:04 because at the time in the beginning of
00:05:01 00:05:05 2018 I wasn't making quite that much I
00:05:04 00:05:07 was very close and it would have been
00:05:05 00:05:09 additional on top of that which is kind
00:05:07 00:05:11 of crazy but it again long-term it
00:05:09 00:05:14 didn't align with what I knew I wanted
00:05:11 00:05:15 to do so I really want to stress this be
00:05:14 00:05:16 disciplined with what you want to do
00:05:15 00:05:18 understand what you want going in and
00:05:16 00:05:20 just just follow your plan
00:05:18 00:05:21 like it's the same thing I do with my
00:05:20 00:05:23 econ stores before I go through it like
00:05:21 00:05:27 oh let me grab my laptop here and
00:05:23 00:05:29 start running some ads you know it's I
00:05:27 00:05:31 have plans mapped out so I'm not like
00:05:29 00:05:32 guessing down the road it's like I stik
00:05:31 00:05:34 to the plan you know I'm not gonna
00:05:32 00:05:36 deviate because of something short-term
00:05:34 00:05:37 or whatever so stik to that that's kind
00:05:36 00:05:38 of the message I wanted to share this
00:05:37 00:05:40 because someone actually asked about it
00:05:38 00:05:43 said hey have you ever worked a job I
00:05:40 00:05:44 have never worked a job in my life okay
00:05:43 00:05:47 I guess the closest thing you could say
00:05:44 00:05:48 is mowing lawns for other people but I
00:05:47 00:05:49 was the person knocking on their door
00:05:48 00:05:51 hey you need your lawn mowed you need a
00:05:49 00:05:53 moat when I was a kid I've never worked
00:05:51 00:05:55 a regular job I've never gotten a salary
00:05:53 00:05:56 I've never gotten anything like that so
00:05:55 00:05:58 I've never been I guess you could
00:05:56 00:06:01 consider I've never been a w-2 employee
00:05:58 00:06:02 ever so kind of interesting let me know
00:06:01 00:06:04 you guys's feedback on this was i stupid
00:06:02 00:06:06 for doing it was I not definitely
00:06:04 00:06:08 curious to hear you guys is your opinion
00:06:06 00:06:10 in your feedback on that because being
00:06:08 00:06:12 offered you know 240,000 dollars a year
00:06:10 00:06:15 at a team
00:06:12 00:06:16 I guess it's unique you know but that's
00:06:15 00:06:17 what you can do when you build a skill
00:06:16 00:06:19 set when you can show that you have
00:06:17 00:06:20 direct value in things you can implement
00:06:19 00:06:22 put in place I have no doubt I could
00:06:20 00:06:23 have scaled their business I looked at
00:06:22 00:06:25 it that's why I got on a call because
00:06:23 00:06:26 honestly I was more so curious kind of
00:06:25 00:06:27 what they were already doing because
00:06:26 00:06:28 they're successful but what they were
00:06:27 00:06:30 doing with their marketing with Facebook
00:06:28 00:06:32 ads specifically was trashed because
00:06:30 00:06:33 that's not where they were making
00:06:32 00:06:35 money so I could definitely go in and
00:06:33 00:06:37 make more money for them and if they're
00:06:35 00:06:39 watching this right now shout out to you
00:06:37 00:06:41 send me back a message when you want to
00:06:39 00:06:43 offer me like ten times that amount of
00:06:41 00:06:45 money then we can tok so get a little
00:06:43 00:06:46 bit more realistik with your numbers so
00:06:45 00:06:47 other than that you guys if you enjoy
00:06:46 00:06:49 this little story time video be sure to
00:06:47 00:06:51 drop like down below and let me know in
00:06:49 00:06:52 the comments if you want me to do more
00:06:51 00:06:54 stuff like this there's definitely a lot
00:06:52 00:06:56 of fun little things I share and I try
00:06:54 00:06:58 and be as transparent and as open as
00:06:56 00:07:01 possible with everything so attempt I
00:06:58 00:07:02 attempt my best to not forget stuff like
00:07:01 00:07:03 this just put it out there on the
00:07:02 00:07:04 channel let you guys kind of know where
00:07:03 00:07:05 I'm at different things that are
00:07:04 00:07:06 happening because it's definitely a lot
00:07:05 00:07:10 of fun definitely very interesting
00:07:06 00:07:12 another than that help us hit 100k subs
00:07:10 00:07:14 we're so close we're past 90 I believe
00:07:12 00:07:15 unreal I appreciate the support hit that
00:07:14 00:07:17 nice like and subscribe button and with
00:07:15 00:07:19 that being said it's ad season inside of
