Woman Quits Day Job & Now Sells 1000+ Products On Amazon

hey everyone i'm tatiana and today i
have the pleasure of sharing with you
another
amazon fba success story i have loretta
banks from canada here with me today
and loretta has launched a thousand
products on amazon
and she's had massive success and she's
here to share with you her story
to inspire motivate and just show you
what's possible
so loretta thank you so so much for
taking the time to be here
uh i'm really excited a thousand
products is a lot of products
um i'd love to know how did you get
started in this business how did you
discover
online business and selling on amazon
yeah
yeah it's kind of a funny story i had
absolutely no
idea about um amazon um
as you know or you mentioned i live in
canada and
uh you know didn't even know that amazon
was
you know a business or that you could
sell you know it was relatively a new
thing
you know here in canada so about five
years ago i actually went to uh
a conference here in canada and it was
just about
it was actually just kind of a
motivational type of um
seminar but they were actually promoting
like different kinds of businesses that
you could get involved in as well
so i signed up to go to this um actually
it was my girlfriend that kind of wanted
to go because her husband
was interested in this amazon um
presentation that had been done so i
went i kind of just tagged along to be
honest and
it wasn't really even something that i
was looking for at the time but
went to the weekend and i was just so
intrigued by the whole opportunity that
so i um started researching online i
actually
bought kind of what they were offering
at that weekend and
you know started to look into the course
and
got involved in that but in the meantime
you know i wasn't
i was kind of also looking online and
you know
and researching more and more about
amazon came across
um actually stefan's channel and uh
uh saw an interview with stephen and and
himself
and so then i i was really intrigued by
that of course by being able to sell
globally
into all the different countries so
immediately
kind of joined that course in the
meantime i had been doing some research
i was getting
into kind of my first product but then i
got into marketplace superheroes
started going through their course and
it was a little bit of a different
strategy i would say
for sure trying to find you know less
competitive products a little bit more
under the radar
style of products so my first product
selection was definitely in a more
competitive market but as i kind of got
into
learning with robert and steven in
marketplace superheroes
um just you know the style of products
in their approach was a little bit
different
and really like that style
anyway i launched that product it wasn't
a very competitive
market so but at that point i was kind
of like okay i need
probably some guidance here and got into
their coaching program so i invested
some more with them got into their
coaching program so i was lucky enough
to get actually robert was my
mentor at that time way back yeah way
back then he had a lot more time on his
hands definitely
you know marketplaces has grown
immensely we've got a whole coaching
team now but we'll get into that later i
guess but
i did yeah so i took coaching with
robert it was probably the best
investment that i ever did that initial
year
um so that would have been 2016.
um i launched so with you know his
guidance and coaching i launched 11
products so
private label products um into the us um
just i just did the one market to kind
of start off with it was kind of a
12-week program
just you know one hour calls a week got
into that with him
you know like i said best investment i
ever did because i when i look back on
it now and people ask me you know
about coaching and it's like yeah just
you know it it definitely makes a
difference if you have somebody there
that's done it before and can guide you
through it
and yeah yeah and you have launched a
product
on amazon before you had taken
a course just with your own kind of
guidance and when
did you launch that product in the us or
in canada into the us
into the u.s okay yeah and so and and so
then you decided to take
the marketplace superheroes course and
then after that you launched more
products or then you started to take the
coaching as well
yeah so i took so i had the one product
um
and you know as i was going through
their course i kind of realized i
probably had picked the wrong product to
begin with
um but i was kind of in it already so
that i took coaching yeah and kind of
you know based on what they toked about
in their program i knew i
was probably going to need some some
help and i just
you know i've always been a big believer
of kind of getting mentoring and
having a coach there especially when
you're this was something that i've
never done before i've never schooled
online
you know i had my own businesses and
stuff previously
um kind of like a you know a brick and
mortar type of store
but uh selling online was a whole new
ball game right so
so you had a cafe didn't you yeah yep a
second cup
franchise here in canada so i had two
stores um
loved loved loved doing that right i had
been in kind of
um i'd worked for wendy's restaurants
for
like 25 years of my life as well and
then
moved on from that bot into the
franchise
of second cup and yeah i did that for
about seven or eight years but kind of
while i was doing that i realized that
was probably something that i didn't
want to do forever right it was
it was a pretty you know 6 a.m to 6 p.m
kind of job you know you're in there
every day just
grinding away right so this was kind of
a
back-up plan for myself you know i i
definitely bought the course
like i said about five years ago and i
had about
five years left on my franchise
agreement with
second cup so was kind of looking at
that
you know as this is an exit strategy to
to perhaps do something different and
just
you know so yeah what was
what was that like just uh transitioning
from your brick and mortar
type shop to online business was there a
big learning curve there or did you
already have a lot of
business skills that you kind of needed
to start your business because
you know that's a very different kind of
business and building an online business
you have to learn
i know a number of different things that
you just don't traditionally use in a
brick and mortar
business yeah definitely it is a big
learning curve right
selling online i did a lot of research
um whenever people kind of ask me about
this
i i tell them like i immersed myself
in just learning as much as i could
right there's there's a lot of stuff out
there on
youtube and things like that but i you
know when i got into marketplace
superheroes i
literally bought everything that they
offered because like robert and steven
they've been selling online for
so many years and you know if robert is
probably one of the most
intelligent people that i've ever met in
terms of selling online and just from a
business standpoint and numbers and
understanding how to kind of
grow a global business so i just you
know i immersed myself into that
um they had a boot camp that they
offered kind of in the
second year that i was you know i had
taken the course so i went
to ireland to you know went in the boot
camp
brought my husband with me because he
was still kind of skeptikal about the
whole thing and so i
i brought him with me and i was like
this is a real business we could grow
this into
you know whatever we we really wanted it
to be right
there was definitely skills that i
didn't have
you know in terms of like say from a you
know a marketing standpoint or just
you know learning about what makes a
good product to sell on amazon and
things like that
um but yeah there's and of course
with with marketplace definitely teaches
you a lot of that and you just have to
kind of put it into practike
and yeah yeah and what was your time
commitment when you were first starting
the business
um considering that you you did have
that shop
uh how much time were you investing into
building your business on the side
yeah i definitely i had a lot of
commuting time as well so i was
always kind of listening to the course
in my car while i was driving
yep it's killing some time um because my
cafe was actually in banff so
it was about an hour yeah it was an hour
commute so i had a lot of time
you know just to listen and soak up the
information and then
you know in the evenings when i get home
from work i would definitely
be researching um online you know to do
fine products and so i'd say you know in
in the beginning
it was definitely you know a couple
hours a day to kind of get that going
um you know in the beginning there's a
lot to learn right there's definitely a
lot to learn and then
you know but once i always say you know
in terms of
think about it this way right you're
going to put a lot of effort into it in
the beginning
because you need to learn and kind of
soak up all the information you're going
to put a lot of time into researching
products
but you're going to be able to sell
those products for
10 15 years maybe longer right down the
road so
that initial investment to of time to
put into it where you can find a product
that you can sell
for years and years and years and just
passively make income
is you know i'd put in 50 hours to find
a product right it's it's worth the time
for sure yeah
definitely yeah and so how often would
you launch a new product because you've
launched
many products at this point so did you
have a certain time frame or how did you
determine when was
when was an appropriate time to kind of
start something new
yeah so the first year like i said i did
11 products and
and that was a lot like in that first
year i did yeah it it was
a little bit overwhelming but definitely
you know with the help of robert and the
guys like they have a lot of services
too that
to help you launch the products in terms
of shipping and photography and things
like that
so but after i went
to boot camp um i came back and
we had obviously done a lot of research
there as well so the following
year you know i kind of staged it out
where every couple months i was
launching
a product and that was you know that's
very manageable
um i do have suppliers now where you
know i launch
or i have several different products
from the same suppliers so i found that
approach to be
you know in terms of launching more
products and faster
so that second year i did launch another
eight seven or eight products that year
but i also launched globally into
the uk and then got my products
um into canada as well so the thing with
marketplace superheroes is they have
the resources that help you to get you
know your products into
all the different countries so i wasn't
really taking advantage of that in the
beginning and
after i went to boot camp robert kind of
was like kicking me in the butt like get
your
get your products into the other
countries you know that's kind of
yeah that's what makes my marketplace
superheroes a bit different than other
programs
is the methodology is it's not really
like build a brand it's kind of find
simple boring products that are kind of
inexpensive
and sell those on amazon and you don't
necessarily have to build a brand for
those products
but sell those products in different
marketplaces around the world
and they have the rule of five and so
it's very different and the approach is
actually i find it to be
a very affordable way to build an amazon
fba business
because you have to invest less into the
product itself less into the marketing
and you can expand faster that way
and that's probably why you know you
have so many products because you kind
of followed that methodology
yeah for sure i mean they've got like i
said the resources to
get your products into all the different
countries we've got um
shipping and warehouses in the uk the us
obviously australia now um and canada is
coming
next in january so i'm excited about it
it's exciting yeah yep so yeah
definitely i like
i really like their approach about that
right just the more people that you can
kind of get your product
um in front of and i do like the
strategy of
you know you have a brand but you're not
necessarily building because when i
first started i was like oh
i want to build a brand i was interested
in fitness and
you know and things like that and you
know my first product was kind of in
this fitness industry
and i was like you know what it's
competitive right so i learned my lesson
on that
but you know not to say that there's
products that you can't launch in that
area but
i i in my head i kind of had this idea
oh i'm gonna launch a big brand and you
know how
it's gonna be in the fitness area i sell
products in
all categories now like patio lawn and
garden
um i have a chicken accessory product i
have
just you know just some weird different
products that
when people ask me what i sell it's kind
of like well
it's it's not i don't sell cell phone
cases and i don't sell
you know yeah these big shiny objects
it's really yeah these
boring type of products that you know
they sell consistently every day
and our strategy is really to more
products right yeah product products
products
yeah yeah and that's the thing the
reason why that those types of products
work it's because those products you
don't necessarily have to market to
people you don't necessarily have to
sell them
on buying your product because they're
they're gonna buy it anyways they're
searching for that product
because they need it it's like a
household item like like a
a toilet paper holder or you know like
things that you kind of you need and
you're going to be looking for anyways
they're not the sexiest products in
terms of
products that you can market on social
media or build a big brand around but
they're
they're necessities in some ways and so
for those of you guys who are watching
this right now
um there are kind of two different ways
that you can go about building an
fba business there's the way where you
can you know decide on what your product
your niche will be and decide on you
know what what you want to build a brand
around so for say for example the
fitness category
and then you build a brand uh in the
fitness niche and then you sell products
within that niche
and and you can build something great
like that
it's just going to be a bit more effort
required on your part you have to get
more creative there's going to be a bit
more competition
you have to really work on your
marketing
or you can go about the other way where
it's just like look for these really hot
selling items that are kind of like
simple um
a little bit boring uh and you can
launch products in any category you're
not limited to just stiking to one
category that your brand is in you can
launch in any category so whenever you
find a hot product opportunity you can
go ahead
and sell that product and you're not
limiting yourself
so it's kind of you have to choose which
way you want to go about it and the
marketplace superheroes course
kind of leans towards uh selling
products in any category as long as
they're like
you know meeting the criteria that they
lay out and that they
they have enough demand and they're
simple products
yeah exactly yeah and that's that's what
i like about it
it doesn't kind of limit you to any
style or
like a fitness product per se right so
like i said i have products now in all
different kinds of categories
and when people ask me what i sell it's
like i sell anything that is going to
make me
profit
so how has your life changed now that
uh you're no longer are you still having
the cafe do you still have the cafe no
no
no okay so how are things different now
that you're no longer brick and mortar
and you have this online business and
are earning
income you know from your online
business and have
you know living kind of a laptop
lifestyle how things change
yeah it's changed dramatikally i mean my
um
day-to-day life prior to this was yeah i
would get up at like 4 30 in the morning
drive to banff work you know 12-hour day
and not that i didn't like it i love
working with customers and
making lattes and all of that and you
know and having my own business it was
great but
i knew at you know some point you know
as i was getting older i didn't want to
have to
you know commute all the time and my
goal was
you know when i saw the potential of
this was to be able to work from home
live the lifetime you know laptop
lifestyle
travel more you know and i've definitely
me and my husband have been able to do
that
quite a bit um and you know so
i would say it's it's definitely changed
dramatikally i
i got rid of the two cafes you know for
various reasons over the last few years
um got rid of the last one would have
been we just didn't
resign the franchise lease and that was
last
2019 march of 2019
it was i that's a whole nother story
right with the pandemic
it was yeah so um
yeah it was a good time to get into
online selling and and definitely got
rid of
the cafe but you know i've been working
from home now
and it was almost to the point where you
know i had
all my private label items going i kind
of got into selling a little bit
um we have another program that's called
invasion where you take
you know other people's brands and you
bring them into
we kind of teach people to bring brands
from the us into the uk
so started to do that brought brands
also into
canada so you know when you toked about
in the beginning about a thousand
products that's how i've kind of been
able to expand
my you know listings and stuff that i
sell
um so yeah it's changed dramatikally i
mean
yeah it's all for the better it's
unbelievable
yeah um i was actually to the point
where i was a little bit bored because
you know it does get to a point where
you have your all your products and
they're just selling and you're
basically just reordering and
you know doing some research and that
you know in terms of if you want to
launch some more products but
um that's when i kind of got involved
actually with
marketplace superheroes they had some
positions that were opening up for
coaching
and so i applied and you know got hired
on and now
i'm kind of teaching other people the
marketplace superhero
um methodologies i guess and in the
coaching program and helping
a lot more people build their businesses
so i love that
i yeah i love it i work from home and
it's all on
zoom just like this right so yeah that's
the beautiful thing is that this
um selling on amazon online business
this can
you can earn income passively because
once you set your listing up you kind of
have all that managed
you kind of you put the effort in
initially but then you don't have to do
much you have to check on it every once
in a while as you said reorder inventory
but it's not necessarily a full-time job
so then you all of a sudden have this
free time to do other things that you
may
be passionate about or other ways that
you may want to pass time in your life
and
now for yourself you've joined the
marketplace superheroes team which is
amazing and i've
heard so many good things about you as a
coach on their team
thank you people love your coaching and
how um
great you are and so yeah how are people
who are watching today if they
you know want to get coaching from you
how would they do that would they be
joining marketplace superheroes and then
they'd be able to connect with you yeah
for sure yeah we um
you know there we have um the webinar
that they could obviously watch and join
you know we have our kind of our main
core program where you're just going to
go through all the videos and
you know how you do and launch products
but then we also have our
origin program which is our coaching
program so
you know we have a couple people and
members on our team where you can
connect with them and kind of tok about
what are all the options so
um that's not necessarily with myself
but we have kind of rupert and justin
who are you know a couple team members
that
it's not a you know a big sales pressure
or anything like that it's just where
are you at
where do you want to go with your
business so they'll get onto a call with
you and kind of tok to you about that
and
you know some people just buy the core
program and they work through the
program and they're
fine to kind of launch products but then
we have this origin program as well
where people who do want that extra help
you know maybe they are brand spanking
new to selling online and they just want
somebody to guide them through the whole
program
so that's kind of how you know you could
definitely get in touch
um yeah yeah i'll leave the link for
for this in the description box below so
those of you watching if you're
interested
in trying marketplace superheroes it's a
fabulous course i highly recommend it
i've been through it myself multiple
times
um you can you can click the link in the
description box below i also have a
bonus package that
um you guys will get access to for free
at no additional charge
i just put together a bunch of bonuses
to kind of help you guys accelerate
your success on this journey so check
that out in the link below
um and loretta before we wrap up you
know
did you have any hesitations when you
started to
get into this business for the first
time because a lot of people they get
excited about the opportunity of
building an online business and what
that could mean the freedom
for their lives um the lifestyle of just
having mobility being able to work from
home
but they never get started because kind
of fear holds them back
um and they have maybe a little bit
skeptikal a little bit hesitant
um did you have that experience yourself
and if so do you have any kind of advice
for people who are watching today who
may be in that position
of wanting to move forward but kind of
not being able to because of that being
paralyzed by that fear
yeah yeah i think for me like it was a
new opportunity and
you know i just had i did a lot of
research online and you know i stumbled
across them and
you know the more that i kind of
researched about them and
it kind of put my hesitations and fear
aside because i felt
good about you know what i had seen from
them and some of the reviews and stuff
um so i kind of jumped into the program
you know it
the program and i think from a cost
perspective you know
people are looking at different programs
it's definitely a very affordable
option so and then so that
you know in terms of fear and hesitation
i've always been a little bit of a risk
taker
and um so for me i would say there
wasn't a lot of hesitation i knew that i
wanted to do this
and nothing was going to kind of stop me
from launching an amazon business
because i
i saw the potential of it and i was just
like i'm going to do this
the more that i got involved in
marketplace superheroes um
like robert and steven are you know
probably two of the most genuine people
they are truly in our facebook group
every day
they are invested in the people that
want to build their business
and they're doing live streams in there
in the group every day they have they're
constantly building new material
to kind of you know as amazon changes
and you know
things change they're keeping up with
that um
you know they've built a whole shipping
company and
you know just to help our members get
the products um
into all the different countries so you
know for for me there was
no hesitation i knew this was the right
place for me
in terms of building my business and
i've just you know
immersed myself in it and and just
whatever robert and steven say to do
i'm doing it right so and it's gotten me
this far
and i've been able you know i was able
to kind of step away from
my cafe business and and now work from
home which i enjoy doing and
yeah my husband and i have been able to
travel quite a bit we're looking at
buying a property
down in the u.s here pretty soon and
it's it's because of
amazon and just you know being able to
do that so
but it's taken a lot of work and a lot
of time as well right so it's been five
years of kind of
getting into it and really making it
work but um
there's potential there for sure yeah so
i would say don't hesitate you just you
gotta gotta get in and just get going
right and
a lot of people i say think oh well i've
missed the boat on on amazon and it's
too late to get into online sales
and definitely not right and yeah
yeah no i agree it's just there's so
many opportunities
and you know you know when we want to
try something new we have a tendency to
look at worst case scenario and it's
kind of a subconscious way for us to not
even try because we think of the worst
things that could happen
but we have to be a leader for ourselves
we have to lead ourselves and a leader
will look at
what's the best case scenario a leader
will create certainty when there is none
and so you just have to believe that yes
this is i can do this
let's do it and once you make that
decision then
there's no looking back there's no
training back like you've made that
decision let's just move forward now
let's take action let's find out ways
that we can actually
start building this business instead of
continue to just tok about it because
you can tok and tok and tok and say
you want to do this
and all of a sudden the months pass by
and the years pass by and
you know it's crazy just you know time
flies regardless of what you're doing so
yeah i love it thank you loretta so much
for
for sharing your experience and uh i'm
really excited um for those of you
watching to
to try marketplace superheroes it's a
wonderful program
and if you join maybe you'll have the
privilege of working with loretta
