Creating Collections in Shopify
Published on: June 3 2023 by pipiads
In this video, Jake shows us how to set up collections in Shopify to organize products. He creates three different collections and showcases how to add them to the home page.
Creating Collections:
- Collections are groups of related products that make browsing easier for customers
- To create a collection, go to Products > Collections and click Create Collection
- First, select which products you want to group together
- There are two ways to set up a collection: manual or automated
- For automated collections, you can set up conditions based on keywords or tags to automatically add future products to the collection
Automated Collection Example:
- To create an automated collection for gaming products, Jake sets up a condition that the product title must contain the word gaming
- When a new product is added to the store with gaming in the title, it will automatically be added to the collection
Automated Collection Example with Product Tags:
- Jake also shows us how to create an automated collection based on product tags
- He adds the tag iPhone to two different products and sets up a condition that any product with the iPhone tag will be added to the collection
Manual Collection Example:
- For the gym collection, Jake adds products manually by searching for them in the store and selecting them to add to the collection
- The downside to manual collections is that new products won't be automatically added and will need to be added manually
Adding Collections to Home Page:
- To add collections to the home page, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize Theme
- Click on the Featured Collection section and select which collection to display
- You can also add additional collection sections to the home page
By following Jake's tutorial, you can easily set up collections in Shopify to organize your products and make browsing easier for customers. Using automated collections based on keywords or tags is the most efficient way to keep your collections up-to-date. Adding collections to the home page can also help highlight your products and improve the shopping experience for your customers.
