00:00:18 00:00:20 that's a little bit of a different one
00:00:19 00:00:22 so i just kind of want to tok
00:00:20 00:00:24 specifically here in general about like
00:00:22 00:00:26 drop shipping on facebook marketplace
00:00:24 00:00:28 from you know retail sites or wholesale
00:00:26 00:00:30 drop shipping on ebay drop shipping on
00:00:28 00:00:32 amazon drop shipping on rikari
00:00:30 00:00:34 dropshipping on poshmark etsy you name
00:00:32 00:00:35 it stuff like that not the shopify
00:00:34 00:00:36 business model where you have to set
00:00:35 00:00:38 your own store up and then obviously run
00:00:36 00:00:40 advertising okay so we're toking about
00:00:38 00:00:41 drop shipping in the generic sense on
00:00:40 00:00:43 those platforms and
00:00:41 00:00:45 the number one mistake that i see a lot
00:00:43 00:00:47 of people making and it's a mistake that
00:00:45 00:00:50 really everybody faces and they have to
00:00:47 00:00:51 overcome myself included is scaling too
00:00:50 00:00:54 fast and this makes a lot of sense
00:00:51 00:00:56 because in the beginning you you don't
00:00:54 00:00:58 really have a proof of concept yet so
00:00:56 00:01:00 you're starting you know you're you're
00:00:58 00:01:02 kind of going at it a little bit here
00:01:00 00:01:03 and there to try to see if it even works
00:01:02 00:01:05 for you right you've heard about this
00:01:03 00:01:08 drop shipping no matter if it's it's
00:01:05 00:01:09 facebook marketplace or amazon or ebay
00:01:08 00:01:11 or whatever it is and so you put a
00:01:09 00:01:12 little bit of work in but then once you
00:01:11 00:01:14 get proof of concept and you start
00:01:12 00:01:15 getting sales chances are you're
00:01:14 00:01:17 watching more youtube videos or you're
00:01:15 00:01:18 in facebook groups you're on forums and
00:01:17 00:01:21 you're seeing that other people are
00:01:18 00:01:23 having a lot more success than you and
00:01:21 00:01:24 the level of success out there is you
00:01:23 00:01:26 know really there for you and it's there
00:01:24 00:01:27 for the taking right so there's
00:01:26 00:01:29 scalability there
00:01:27 00:01:31 now the next you know kind of gut
00:01:29 00:01:33 reaction there and the next kind of step
00:01:31 00:01:35 in the process is all right well let's
00:01:33 00:01:37 scale this right let's list more because
00:01:35 00:01:38 in a lot of these places unless you're
00:01:37 00:01:40 listening on somewhere like etsy where
00:01:38 00:01:41 they charge you per listing even though
00:01:40 00:01:43 it's you know super minimal i think it's
00:01:41 00:01:45 like 10 cents it might be 25 cents i'm
00:01:43 00:01:47 really not sure um
00:01:45 00:01:49 if it's somewhere free to list like ebay
00:01:47 00:01:50 or amazon or you know facebook
00:01:49 00:01:52 marketplace or anything like that
00:01:50 00:01:54 then all you're really spending is your
00:01:52 00:01:55 time it doesn't cost you anything to
00:01:54 00:01:57 list so you can really scale it to the
00:01:55 00:02:00 max if you're willing to put the effort
00:01:57 00:02:02 in obviously you know over time
00:02:00 00:02:04 and so in a major issue that i see here
00:02:02 00:02:07 is people scale too fast and that kind
00:02:04 00:02:08 of brings its own issues up because you
00:02:07 00:02:10 can run into cash flow issues which
00:02:08 00:02:12 isn't that big of a deal because you can
00:02:10 00:02:13 always obviously stop or like turn your
00:02:12 00:02:15 stores on vacation mode or you know
00:02:13 00:02:17 obviously deactivate some of your
00:02:15 00:02:18 listings or whatever it is but another
00:02:17 00:02:20 thing that comes up is with scalability
00:02:18 00:02:23 issues if you scale too fast and you
00:02:20 00:02:25 don't have systems put in place is you
00:02:23 00:02:26 could run into issues like for example
00:02:25 00:02:28 if you're not tracking your inventory
00:02:26 00:02:30 which i don't even track my inventory um
00:02:28 00:02:31 and it's i don't really recommend that
00:02:30 00:02:34 anybody really tracks their inventory on
00:02:31 00:02:35 facebook marketplace specifically or on
00:02:34 00:02:36 poshmark it's not really worth the price
00:02:35 00:02:39 that you're gonna have to pay into an
00:02:36 00:02:40 inventory software system like that now
00:02:39 00:02:41 on amazon it's a little bit different
00:02:40 00:02:44 because they take metrics a little bit
00:02:41 00:02:45 more seriously ebay you know you
00:02:44 00:02:46 probably want to track your inventory
00:02:45 00:02:48 but facebook marketplace or anything
00:02:46 00:02:49 like that is not really necessary in my
00:02:48 00:02:51 opinion now and i've toked about that
00:02:49 00:02:52 in other videos but the issue with
00:02:51 00:02:54 scaling too fast to that is like if you
00:02:52 00:02:55 scale too fast and this is something
00:02:54 00:02:57 that happened to me on amazon and almost
00:02:55 00:02:59 killed my amazon store it's also
00:02:57 00:03:01 something that just happened to me on
00:02:59 00:03:03 facebook shops and like uh thank god
00:03:01 00:03:05 like i have experience and i've system
00:03:03 00:03:07 and systems in place to know like how to
00:03:05 00:03:08 combat it how to prevent it once it
00:03:07 00:03:10 starts happening but
00:03:08 00:03:12 if you get you know you start to scale
00:03:10 00:03:13 and you're listing a bunch of things and
00:03:12 00:03:15 then one of your listings takes off or
00:03:13 00:03:18 maybe a couple of your listings take off
00:03:15 00:03:20 and you know for example you there's two
00:03:18 00:03:21 main things that i see with this but
00:03:20 00:03:23 like for example like let's say you get
00:03:21 00:03:25 like 10 sales overnight or like 20 sales
00:03:23 00:03:27 overnight and you don't have that that's
00:03:25 00:03:28 for a listing that like isn't in stok
00:03:27 00:03:31 anymore or a listing that was
00:03:28 00:03:32 discontinued on a website well now you
00:03:31 00:03:34 have 20 orders that you don't know what
00:03:32 00:03:35 to do with and you know you're running
00:03:34 00:03:37 into issues with a lot of different
00:03:35 00:03:39 orders there because you didn't
00:03:37 00:03:41 necessarily have the system in place to
00:03:39 00:03:43 combat it you have the sales in place
00:03:41 00:03:44 over time to kind of bury that in your
00:03:43 00:03:45 metrics right whether you're canceling
00:03:44 00:03:46 the orders whether you're shipping out
00:03:45 00:03:48 you know if they tracking numbers or
00:03:46 00:03:50 whatever okay that's an issue that can
00:03:48 00:03:52 arise when you scale too fast so you
00:03:50 00:03:54 don't want to be greedy and you want to
00:03:52 00:03:55 kind of scale slowly make sure that you
00:03:54 00:03:58 have the experience you're seeing all
00:03:55 00:03:59 the problems on a low scale first so
00:03:58 00:04:01 that you know how to handle them so that
00:03:59 00:04:03 when you scale and you're on a bigger
00:04:01 00:04:04 scale you can handle them better at
00:04:03 00:04:06 scale right because you don't want to
00:04:04 00:04:07 run into those issues at scale or it's
00:04:06 00:04:09 going to kill your store if you don't
00:04:07 00:04:10 have the experience okay and trust me
00:04:09 00:04:12 that's firsthand like knowledge i'm not
00:04:10 00:04:13 just saying like that could happen i've
00:04:12 00:04:14 ran into that issue many times myself
00:04:13 00:04:16 okay
00:04:14 00:04:18 another thing that can happen with scale
00:04:16 00:04:20 is very very similar but it's a worse
00:04:18 00:04:22 problem right so for example let's say
00:04:20 00:04:23 and this has happened to me a number of
00:04:22 00:04:24 times as well and it's something that's
00:04:23 00:04:26 like i've had to eat like hundreds of
00:04:24 00:04:28 dollars in return costs sometimes so
00:04:26 00:04:29 like for example let's say you list
00:04:28 00:04:31 something or if you're you know scaled
00:04:29 00:04:33 up to any certain degree you have like a
00:04:31 00:04:34 va listing for you and you have like one
00:04:33 00:04:36 listing for example that takes off and
00:04:34 00:04:38 you get a bunch of sales on it and you
00:04:36 00:04:40 know in this case the the
00:04:38 00:04:41 the actual
00:04:40 00:04:43 listing on the other site where you're
00:04:41 00:04:45 sourcing from is still in stok and you
00:04:43 00:04:48 send all like let's say 20 orders again
00:04:45 00:04:49 to a number of customers and then you
00:04:48 00:04:51 don't realize that once you've processed
00:04:49 00:04:52 those orders that like maybe your
00:04:51 00:04:54 listing is inaccurate or maybe you
00:04:52 00:04:56 shipped out the wrong variation or the
00:04:54 00:04:58 wrong size because of the something like
00:04:56 00:05:00 wrong in the listing right and this has
00:04:58 00:05:01 happened to me many many times both when
00:05:00 00:05:03 i used to do it on amazon with like
00:05:01 00:05:05 variations that's why i kind of try to
00:05:03 00:05:07 stay away from them now it's also
00:05:05 00:05:09 happened to me one time with uh
00:05:07 00:05:10 something on ebay as well it was like a
00:05:09 00:05:11 one thing that i toked about my last
00:05:10 00:05:13 video was like soccer nets and soccer
00:05:11 00:05:15 goals so a lot of people would buy this
00:05:13 00:05:17 one soccer net that wasn't actually the
00:05:15 00:05:19 framed goal it was just the net thinking
00:05:17 00:05:21 that they got a great deal and i sold
00:05:19 00:05:23 like probably like i don't know like 40
00:05:21 00:05:26 or 50 of these and then almost everybody
00:05:23 00:05:28 wanted a refund or a return because
00:05:26 00:05:29 they uh
00:05:28 00:05:30 like they realized when they got it that
00:05:29 00:05:32 it was just the net not the soccer goal
00:05:30 00:05:34 right so like normally that's not a big
00:05:32 00:05:35 deal but if you run into an ebay seller
00:05:34 00:05:38 with an issue that's like giving you a
00:05:35 00:05:41 hard time and like responding slowly yes
00:05:38 00:05:43 you can get obviously all your your your
00:05:41 00:05:44 refunds back or like return all those
00:05:43 00:05:46 items if you you know what to do when
00:05:44 00:05:48 like if you're willing to be patient but
00:05:46 00:05:49 it's a freaking headache to do that with
00:05:48 00:05:51 a number of orders right so that's
00:05:49 00:05:53 another issue that can kind of come up
00:05:51 00:05:54 and those are just two examples of
00:05:53 00:05:56 things that can come up when you scale
00:05:54 00:05:57 too fast right so i kind of that was a
00:05:56 00:05:59 long-winded answer with number one i'll
00:05:57 00:06:01 try to move through the next one's kind
00:05:59 00:06:03 of a little bit faster
00:06:01 00:06:05 but be wary of scaling too fast because
00:06:03 00:06:06 while everybody wants to do it you want
00:06:05 00:06:07 to get from like where you are now to
00:06:06 00:06:09 like you know multiple thousands of
00:06:07 00:06:11 dollars or ten thousand dollar profit
00:06:09 00:06:13 months totally get that makes perfect
00:06:11 00:06:14 sense be wary of scaling too fast
00:06:13 00:06:16 because if you don't have the systems in
00:06:14 00:06:18 place if you don't have this experience
00:06:16 00:06:21 in place to deal with those problems as
00:06:18 00:06:23 they arise on a small scale you're gonna
00:06:21 00:06:24 literally blow up as they hit you in
00:06:23 00:06:26 volume okay
00:06:24 00:06:28 so number two is uh you know using the
00:06:26 00:06:30 address copying software whether you're
00:06:28 00:06:32 using somewhere uh something like uh
00:06:30 00:06:34 spot and paste whether you're using
00:06:32 00:06:36 something built into like an fbm fox or
00:06:34 00:06:37 a uh a z drop where like you have to
00:06:36 00:06:39 actually have the copy address and then
00:06:37 00:06:41 you paste the address in i've ran into
00:06:39 00:06:43 issues many many times like
00:06:41 00:06:44 most of the time it works copy paste but
00:06:43 00:06:47 every once in a while you'll either
00:06:44 00:06:49 forget to paste it in there or on top of
00:06:47 00:06:50 that you'll paste it in and then run
00:06:49 00:06:52 into an issue where like you might have
00:06:50 00:06:54 an apartment number in the other like
00:06:52 00:06:57 little little uh box there and not
00:06:54 00:06:59 realize it or something goes wrong
00:06:57 00:07:01 not a lot of times but every once in a
00:06:59 00:07:04 while with the copy software so i
00:07:01 00:07:06 recommend one one the copy address
00:07:04 00:07:07 software a lot of coffee today that's
00:07:06 00:07:09 why i'm all over the place
00:07:07 00:07:11 so what i recommend is one of two things
00:07:09 00:07:13 right either use the copy address
00:07:11 00:07:14 software which i definitely recommend
00:07:13 00:07:15 because it can save you a lot of time
00:07:14 00:07:17 and then make sure that you're clicking
00:07:15 00:07:19 back and forth and verifying that the
00:07:17 00:07:21 address is correct every single time
00:07:19 00:07:23 don't just jump the gun and assume it
00:07:21 00:07:25 copied right every time or you might run
00:07:23 00:07:27 into an issue where like you have like a
00:07:25 00:07:28 200 order and you ship it to the wrong
00:07:27 00:07:30 address and then you're screwed and
00:07:28 00:07:32 you're out of 200 because
00:07:30 00:07:33 you copied and pasted the wrong address
00:07:32 00:07:35 right i don't want you to run into those
00:07:33 00:07:37 problems so make sure that you're either
00:07:35 00:07:38 doing that and verifying it with the
00:07:37 00:07:39 software and making sure that you have
00:07:38 00:07:41 the right address in there i know it
00:07:39 00:07:42 goes without saying and it's common
00:07:41 00:07:44 sense but a lot of people don't they
00:07:42 00:07:46 just take it for granted the copy
00:07:44 00:07:49 address will paste it in perfectly every
00:07:46 00:07:51 single time and they never forget or do
00:07:49 00:07:52 what i did when i started and what i
00:07:51 00:07:55 recommend to most beginners literally
00:07:52 00:07:56 manually copy it you know yourself if
00:07:55 00:07:59 you're using any of the normal like
00:07:56 00:08:01 beginner methods like amazon ebay home
00:07:59 00:08:03 depot walmart any beginner places that
00:08:01 00:08:06 most people go to because they're easy
00:08:03 00:08:08 and they have a big product catalog all
00:08:06 00:08:09 of those websites will will literally
00:08:08 00:08:10 guess where you're shipping it to
00:08:09 00:08:13 immediately so that means that all you
00:08:10 00:08:14 have to do is really paste in the uh the
00:08:13 00:08:16 person's name paste in their street
00:08:14 00:08:18 address and most of the time it will
00:08:16 00:08:19 come up with the full address and then
00:08:18 00:08:21 you just click okay and then you don't
00:08:19 00:08:22 need to really verify because you know
00:08:21 00:08:24 it's perfect every single time you just
00:08:22 00:08:26 click over once make sure that you have
00:08:24 00:08:27 the the state and the city right and bam
00:08:26 00:08:29 you're good to go okay
00:08:27 00:08:31 so make sure that when you're using the
00:08:29 00:08:32 copy address software it doesn't matter
00:08:31 00:08:34 what software you're using there's a lot
00:08:32 00:08:36 of them out there i recommend z drop
00:08:34 00:08:37 obviously which is the listing software
00:08:36 00:08:39 that comes with that if you're doing
00:08:37 00:08:41 amazon drop shipping i obviously
00:08:39 00:08:44 recommend spot paste or ebay drop
00:08:41 00:08:45 shipping spot paces works great as well
00:08:44 00:08:47 just make sure that you're verifying and
00:08:45 00:08:49 not taking it for granted or you could
00:08:47 00:08:51 run into an issue you know you might not
00:08:49 00:08:52 think it's that big of an issue and it
00:08:51 00:08:54 might not be that big of an issue if
00:08:52 00:08:56 it's like a 5 or ten dollar or twenty
00:08:54 00:08:58 dollar order but i've done multiple
00:08:56 00:08:59 times where like i've shipped out big
00:08:58 00:09:01 orders to the wrong address and then
00:08:59 00:09:02 like there's no way to get that back
00:09:01 00:09:04 because it's delivered to the wrong
00:09:02 00:09:06 address that's the address that you put
00:09:04 00:09:08 in there and your your out of luck
00:09:06 00:09:10 because you're out like 200 300 bucks
00:09:08 00:09:11 whatever it is right so just verify
00:09:10 00:09:14 every time it might slow you down a
00:09:11 00:09:17 little bit but it's well worth it okay
00:09:14 00:09:20 even at scale now number three is not
00:09:17 00:09:21 properly managing uh cash flow and this
00:09:20 00:09:23 is something that i dealt with
00:09:21 00:09:25 specifically on amazon because i scale
00:09:23 00:09:27 too fast it's also something it's not
00:09:25 00:09:28 that big of a deal but it's also
00:09:27 00:09:30 something that you kind of want to focus
00:09:28 00:09:32 on because the reason being is if you're
00:09:30 00:09:34 not managing your cash flow and checking
00:09:32 00:09:35 it every single day the same thing goes
00:09:34 00:09:37 with personal finance like you always
00:09:35 00:09:38 want to check your bank accounts always
00:09:37 00:09:39 check your credit cards if you're not
00:09:38 00:09:41 managing your cash flow you could run
00:09:39 00:09:43 into an issue where like you wake up
00:09:41 00:09:44 with like 30 new orders and you don't
00:09:43 00:09:46 have any money or any credit to actually
00:09:44 00:09:47 pay for those orders and that can kill
00:09:46 00:09:49 your metrics and you have to cancel all
00:09:47 00:09:50 those orders right so this is a little
00:09:49 00:09:52 problem but you definitely want to
00:09:50 00:09:54 manage cash flow also because like you
00:09:52 00:09:56 might need to turn off your store so
00:09:54 00:09:57 that you give yourself time if you're
00:09:56 00:10:00 starting if you don't have the credit
00:09:57 00:10:01 you don't already have some cash flow
00:10:00 00:10:03 so that you can recoup some of that
00:10:01 00:10:05 money so that you can then spend it
00:10:03 00:10:07 going forward in the future okay
00:10:05 00:10:09 now the next one number four is getting
00:10:07 00:10:11 one one that i see a lot and we all face
00:10:09 00:10:13 this myself included like getting too
00:10:11 00:10:15 emotional dealing with customers if they
00:10:13 00:10:16 give you a hard time or they ask for a
00:10:15 00:10:18 refund or like you're even if you're
00:10:16 00:10:19 pretty sure that they're lying to you
00:10:18 00:10:21 and they're saying like it didn't get
00:10:19 00:10:23 delivered i always recommend just
00:10:21 00:10:25 looking at it as a looking at it as like
00:10:23 00:10:27 a this is part this is like par for the
00:10:25 00:10:29 course right like this is part of doing
00:10:27 00:10:31 business as a drop shipper always just
00:10:29 00:10:34 not always but the majority of time
00:10:31 00:10:36 refund those customers be kind to them
00:10:34 00:10:37 don't go off on a long-winded response
00:10:36 00:10:39 and be like unprofessional and get mad
00:10:37 00:10:41 back at them because it's not worth it
00:10:39 00:10:43 and especially on amazon that can really
00:10:41 00:10:44 run you into problems it can a little
00:10:43 00:10:47 bit on facebook marketplace but not
00:10:44 00:10:48 really but i have notiked
00:10:47 00:10:51 again this is a guess a correlation
00:10:48 00:10:52 between like some claims on on facebook
00:10:51 00:10:54 marketplace and then getting my account
00:10:52 00:10:56 suspended thinking that like something's
00:10:54 00:10:58 wrong right now granted i get my account
00:10:56 00:10:59 back like almost immediately within 24
00:10:58 00:11:01 hours every single time it's happened to
00:10:59 00:11:04 me in the past and it's happened like
00:11:01 00:11:06 four or five times now i think um not
00:11:04 00:11:08 not recently but i'm sure another one's
00:11:06 00:11:09 coming eventually let's be real
00:11:08 00:11:12 but there is a correlation there so i
00:11:09 00:11:13 would say like be careful with that
00:11:12 00:11:14 make sure that you're always dealing
00:11:13 00:11:17 with customers and kind of conversing
00:11:14 00:11:19 with them you know on a kind basis being
00:11:17 00:11:23 professional always accept returns for
00:11:19 00:11:24 them and always aid them you know
00:11:23 00:11:26 making sure that they're happy customers
00:11:24 00:11:27 right and that goes for amazon that goes
00:11:26 00:11:29 for ebay that goes for facebook
00:11:27 00:11:31 marketplace or any different uh you know
00:11:29 00:11:32 marketplace i'm telling you it'll pay
00:11:31 00:11:34 off it's annoying to deal with that it's
00:11:32 00:11:35 annoying to kind of swallow your pride
00:11:34 00:11:38 and be like i know that this person's
00:11:35 00:11:39 lying or i have a good chance or a good
00:11:38 00:11:41 you know inclination that this person is
00:11:39 00:11:42 lying and the tracking is literally
00:11:41 00:11:43 showing that it's been delivered to the
00:11:42 00:11:46 right address and they're saying it's
00:11:43 00:11:48 not there it's not worth it in in my
00:11:46 00:11:51 opinion most of the time there are those
00:11:48 00:11:52 rare circumstances but like just refund
00:11:51 00:11:54 them move on to the next customer and
00:11:52 00:11:55 block them as a problem customer in the
00:11:54 00:11:56 future
00:11:55 00:11:58 because the majority of sales that you
00:11:56 00:11:59 get the majority of profit will way
00:11:58 00:12:01 outweigh
00:11:59 00:12:03 the the little amount of refunds and
00:12:01 00:12:04 annoying customers that you have right
00:12:03 00:12:06 you want to you want the privilege of
00:12:04 00:12:08 doing business on the marketplace you
00:12:06 00:12:11 don't want to risk that for one or two
00:12:08 00:12:12 idiot customers okay so take a deep
00:12:11 00:12:14 breath before you respond to somebody
00:12:12 00:12:16 and get mad and then you know deal with
00:12:14 00:12:18 it in a professional manner even if you
00:12:16 00:12:19 think they're lying even if you know
00:12:18 00:12:21 you're right okay
00:12:19 00:12:23 number five there's two more we're gonna
00:12:21 00:12:24 cover six here obviously like i said
00:12:23 00:12:26 number five is not paying attention to
00:12:24 00:12:29 your metrics um this is something that
00:12:26 00:12:31 obviously amazon takes super super
00:12:29 00:12:33 seriously so literally every day if
00:12:31 00:12:35 you're drop shipping on amazon and ebay
00:12:33 00:12:37 as well although ebay does a little bit
00:12:35 00:12:38 better job of like warning you amazon
00:12:37 00:12:40 you have to check like your metrics tab
00:12:38 00:12:42 every single day check it every single
00:12:40 00:12:44 day right same thing with facebook
00:12:42 00:12:46 marketplace go into mobile go into
00:12:44 00:12:48 insights i have not found a way to do it
00:12:46 00:12:49 on desktop yet which is crazy to me
00:12:48 00:12:51 there's so many different things like
00:12:49 00:12:52 they're all over the place with like
00:12:51 00:12:55 what works on desktop versus what works
00:12:52 00:12:56 on mobile but for me it's mobile for you
