How I Made $970,000 In 10 Days On Shopify (Step By Step)

hey welcome back into another video if
you're new to the channel my name is
hayden on here we tok a lot about
business primarily e-commerce and real
estate
in today's video specifically i want to
jump right into it
i'm probably about to share more
information than i've ever shared before
i really want to dive through this case
study that's on one of my own brands
and i want to explain exactly what
happened both the things that went
amazingly well that made us a lot a lot
of money
but also the stupid mistakes that
happened that costed us a lot of money
so i want to go through all this
we're about to jump inside of a little
presentation i spent about an hour
putting together for you guys
showing you a little bit inside of the
actual ad account inside my amex bill
showing you all the charges going
through
and just being as transparent as i can
about again things were both good and
bad i'm not here to hide anything so
whether you are
an experienced facebook advertiser who
spends millions of dollars or you've
never run a facebook ad
before this is the video for you and
hopefully you can spend 10 15 minutes
watching it
otherwise uh i don't know you might
struggle with facebook there's a lot of
information to take in
and i really want to break it down in
this video so you can have a better
understanding on everything
so that you can be successful quicker

this year in 2020 as well as where i see
things going there's a lot of issues
going on
facebook's been in a huge ftc battle
lawsuit which is like their biggest
lawsuit they've ever been in
over some illegal monopolization and
we're gonna get through all that stuff
anyways you guys will see that video so

a bunch of crazy stuff is gonna be

wanna explain how you can capitalize so
let's jump into my computer and we're
going to start going through all this
crazy oh

timeline here is about 970 000
in 10 days almost cracking a million and
10 days which is on track for roughly
three million a month do the math that's
36 million a year
it's pretty crazy obviously that's
revenue we're going to tok profit we're
going to tok everything
here's the truth though about what
happened here i lost the ad account not
just the ad account
the ad accounts there's an s there i
should have put in
27 days after starting the first ad so
the bulk of these sales like 95
came inside of a 10 day window as you're
about to see as i go inside the ad
account
but here's what actually happened it's a
story i've told before
super super unfortunate situation at the
end of the day i'm the business owner
it's my fault right
facebook excuse me our supplier screwed
us for about 4 100 orders
this is not a new supplier some people
are like oh why are you working with
someone new
i've sent them over probably definitely
over a million probably close to 1.5
million dollars
for my main e-commerce brand in the last
year and a half and unfortunately they
tried to screw us over for literally
just 31 000
worth of orders so we had to be out of
pocket to resend those from another
supplier to those customers
and deal with all the first of all
refunding and then charging
ourselves to buy those products again
just to make it right with our customers
so that
we don't ever want people upset
especially with our brand so we were out
of pocket
three times paying the supplier right
then not getting a fulfilled refund in
all the orders and then spending the
money again to reorder it
that's just what we do as a brand to
make sure that our customers are taken
care of
because the end of the day it's a drop
in the bucket and you know it was our
faults we wanted to do the right thing
so anyways i've told this story before
it took us about 35 days to really
figure out what had happened because we
had no reason not to trust the supplier
we got a bunch of fake tracking numbers
so feedback score dropped i lost the ad
account that spiraled into all three of
the ad accounts it was very unfortunate
again
my fault i now have someone who double
checks every single order
from each of our suppliers depending on
the brand that's an extra expense and i
wasn't too happy about bringing it on
because it's basically a full-time job
but that expense is is nowhere in
comparison to what we lost because of
this
this costed us tens of millions of
dollars it was really really upsetting
caused us facebook issues for a long
period of time and in this long video
that i'm gonna be posting here in the
next week
i'm gonna explain how you can set up a
secure facebook structure so

strategies on how you can be secure on
facebook
a lot of people just open an ad account
then they run ads on there that's the
biggest mistake you could ever make
and i made that mistake for years so i'm
gonna show you kind of the sauce and
give you that for free in that video
so to finish this off um again
everything that happened here
led to us losing those ad accounts so
unfortunately i don't know just i can't
log in right now and show you guys
everything i do have pictures and stuff
that i will show you
but again that's all a long video that's
gonna be coming soon it was total
madness so all this happening inside of
10 days something from
literally zero dollars in those ad
accounts uh we're gonna dive through
this picture specifically
inside the ad account here shortly but
if we were to zoom in
just a little bit you can see that this
one this ad account
and this is at account number three if
you look up in the left was one of the
smaller ad accounts
from april 26 to the 27th which is a
two-day window
this one spent 52 000 so you know
in two days and the day wasn't even over
so it was pretty interesting to see that
actually the day was over those two full
days a little over fifty thousand
dollars so this ad account was spending
over twenty five thousand dollars a day
we were moving we were moving and
grooving our margin was good we're going
to get into that
here is a quick look over at what that
looked like inside of my american
express account
which is cool because using proper cards
credit cards rewards cards
charge cards whatever you can do you can
get a whole lot of reward points i mean
i have millions and millions and
millions of points stacked up
which is great i just use that for free
travel and it's super awesome but here's
what it looked like
all just on april 21st right this isn't
even from the the timeline that i showed
you

account all just on april 21st these
were charges i mean 900 900 900 900
hitting that threshold and yes
you can raise your threshold through
facebook up to like five thousand or ten
thousand if you request it
it doesn't really make a difference it
doesn't cost us any extra money so
anyways it was just kind of funny to see
all those different charges anywhere
from like 25 to 40 charges a day
we're spending a lot of money and again
this was just on one of the ad accounts
i think this was the main ad account of
spending 25
000 a day i will tok about the others
so just wanted to be open and
transparent about some of those numbers
and show you guys kind of a breakdown of
that
now here's what we're doing for the ad
creative this is one of the most
important parts you will see this in the
long format video
that i will be posting especially moving
into 2021
to be able to capture the attention of a
customer not just on facebook and
instagram but also new marketing
platforms like tiktok
the strategies have changed yeah the old
ways still work but there's ways to do
it better
so here's what i was doing i was
spending out of that 30 we're spending
we're doing about 70 000 a day spending
30 to 35 000. our margin was
15 plus thousand dollars a day in profit
and we're getting 2500 orders a day i
mean our customer base is going through
the roof
i would have run it at break even
because we're getting so many customers
and our email list is growing
exponentially so nonetheless we're
spending about ten thousand dollars a
day just on ads that i've gotten from
viral ecom ads
if you guys don't know about them it's
not something that i own it's not
whatever it's just something that i
truly use i know the owners they're
great
guys but what they do is you send them a
photo of your product
and they build a 2d animation off of
that so i'm about to explain the three
different types of ads that i run
and how that ties into it because i've
always used animated content
it wasn't always from va but there was
other companies and they were a whole
lot more expensive so
viral ecommerce is actually they just
bought a whole warehouse it's really
cool to see that you're gonna be doing
like a whole bunch of actual custom
content
if you want real videos which is what
i'm about to break down here of what i
did but nonetheless
we're spending about 20 000 a day so
double that on just my normal other ads
okay
so those are my original videos we've
had for a long time we've made some
super super epic creatives
just standard life shots of the product
being used those were both operating
depending on the ad what we're targeting
the budget anywhere from like a 2.1 to a
2.8 row as
was that average range very healthy that
pins us above a 30
margin of most of those it all depends
on what the level of spend was
okay so continue with the creative what
i recommend you do
animated ads and normal video ads for
cold audiences
the reason i do this it's kind of an a b
split test you want to test
to see which one works better for your
product because for example i know
someone who doesn't sell
dirt bikes but they sell parts like if
you guys know anything about dirt bikes
or motorcycles
like new clutch packs brush guards and
stuff for if you ride in the trails new
grips
anything like that right and so using
viral ecommerce for 2d animation it kind
of shows the part and the cable coming
out of the bike going back in the new
one it shows a cool animation
versus a real video that they film with
the product so you a b
split test that to see which one's
working better on cold traffic okay
so that's what i recommend interest
targeting on facebook then what i do
i mix so i kind of combine those i do
really cool video mixed with animation
clips
spliced throughout it i don't edit these
myself now i have a video editor but
it's really not that hard to do
i do that plus some other variants where
i add in text as well
not a lot of text facebook definitely
doesn't like that but i especially run
these types of mixed ads
once i already have a hundred couple
hundred sales plus because i'm running
lookalike audiences
so realize that the more sales you get
pretty much anything you do works i'm
gonna explain one of these absolutely
ridiculous
ten thousand dollar day cbo's i don't
know if it was running in this
screenshot but
i'm gonna explain and kind of walk you
through the ads that i was running and
tok about that ad strategy so
make sure to stik around for a few more
minutes i want to tok about that but
the third and final thing
is carousel image ads for retargeting
now
let me just advance here real quick for
retargeting
you should try a video ad you should try
just an animated clip
but please don't do retargeting the lazy
way because it kind of hurts your
audience
the lazy way of retargeting is using the
same ad creative that you're running on
the front end
always always and only separate the ads
anything you run for retargeting should
never ever
be used for front end unless you're
never going to use it for retargeting
again
anything you've already run for front
end should never be used for retargeting
it needs to be fresh that's the point of
retargeting hit them again and hopefully
they buy
a great thing you can do is if you order
your product you take those pictures
right
then you send them to viral ecom ads by
the way they're linked in every single
video you can check that out
but going through all of that this
breaks down
what you can do like you can just
screenshot this slideshow right here and
it works test everything a b
split test it but carousel image ads for
retargeting that's one of the things
that works the best
for my brand in the industry that we're
in yes we do try some basic videos
one thing you can also try that works
extremely well is
if you can get it you can fake it but
you can also try to get some real ones
is they're called testimonies it's
basically a 60 second usually a vertikal
video filmed on an iphone
it doesn't have to be great quality
sometimes that actually increases the
results the lower the quality is
it's a very real video just someone who
might stutter a little and who might
explain the product and tok about
what's good maybe what they didn't like
just being honest about the product
those things do really well for
retargeting as well so make sure to take
a quick picture of this or mental note
or bookmark this video whatever you want
to do
um and yeah that's just kind of breaking
down what i was doing in terms of the
spending just being open and honest so
let's tok about the ad account security
now
i promise you this is something i cannot
actually for legal reasons fully go in
depth but i will go very in depth
on what i can in the long format video
it's an insane infrastructure i've spent
not quite six figures this year but very
close about seventy thousand seventy
five thousand dollars now
just on my facebook infrastructure just
to be able to run facebook ads i mean
it's crazy what you have to do
but that's just what the game is now you
don't have to come out of pocket to do
that right away
i'm gonna explain what i do and what you
should do as you grow and expand
to make sure you're backed up and you
will never have an issue okay so
that'll all be explained but notike in
this picture that was this big picture
up here right with all the crazy sales
we're about to tok about the strategy
of what i was running
but this is out of count number three
now i had five ad accounts warmed up for
this brand
three we were actively running i think
we were spending like a thousand on one
like five to ten thousand day on the
other and like 25 to 30 000
on one of the main ones which was this
one number three so breaking all that
down
and warming up all those other ones and
then also having data backups for the
others
that's what we're going to tok about in
that longer video so again i can't
stress enough
be prepared for that i've never done
anything like it and now finally
let's tok about the facebook strategy
this is where my inner nerd comes out
don't judge me instead of judging me
just drop a like or drop a dislike i
don't really care which
anyways here's how i name my things this
is all the stuff by the way if

columns it's not that it's some special
way it's just what makes sense for me
and it makes viewing it so much easier
so here's what this stands for
you might see this right here let's just
go from the top to the bottom
nc one vertikal line cbo on wwla two to
four percent
slash ap 25
space 50 split space b now this might
not make sense everybody has a different
naming strategy
i understand exactly what all this means
and that's the point you find something
that works for you so you can quickly
analyze your campaign names
not have to be very long see how this
line most of them don't run outside of
this
so it's very simple the structure here
but here's what this means
nc one stands for new creative one new
creative three with a different
thumbnail i didn't write the whole word
thumbnail because i don't need to
i don't want to take up space why the
monitor you see behind me is 47 inches
it's only so wide
i don't want a ton of line just for the
name if i can shorten it and still
understand it
so that's how i do things um nc2 and
then what
let's go beyond it cbo right campaign
budget optimization you can see that
over here running 150
a day budget on worldwide worldwide
llas look like audiences two three and
four percent two to four
not two and four two to four so that
includes three
and then this slash this is just my
budget bumps okay so
ap 25 april that was the month that all
this was in
i named that so that as i'm running
these for months i know what i've done
to that specific campaign
in the shortest way possible ap 25 means
i directly raise the budget right
then 50 b i bumped it another 50
so this is just the way that i name my
campaigns and all this stuff is broken
down you can figure it all out and name
it however you want but these go pretty
hard you know you have cbo's a worldwide
eight to ten percent
that's a huge audience ap 20 i bumped at
200 i bumped it again on that date
uh on april 25th i bumped in 200 again
now it's at 500.
so it started at 100 on april 20th i
bumped it to 300 right another 200
then five days later i bumped in another
200 now it's at 500 operating at a 30
cost per purchase right so very healthy
now we continue on as you know my
fat fingers kind of in the way but cbo
on no interest that's a whole other
strategy you have to be very very
specific with how you set up these cbo's
you should not do it in ad sets unless
your creative is set up in a certain way
all that stuff's broken down and again
in the facebook academy that's kind of
where i keep everything so
if you want it buy it either don't i
really don't care it costs 300 bucks
but all that stuff is broken down in
there so we'll be going through a lot
more stuff on the long format video
