00:00:28 00:00:31 losers and the reason I'm doing this is
00:00:30 00:00:32 I want to show you all the different
00:00:31 00:00:34 perspectives because for me I didn't
00:00:32 00:00:36 just jump in boom you know maybe like
00:00:34 00:00:38 some of you guys I didn't just jump in
00:00:36 00:00:40 and my first product work that's kind of
00:00:38 00:00:42 not how it went for me it was a very
00:00:40 00:00:43 very long period of struggles so that's
00:00:42 00:00:45 why I want to break it down in this
00:00:43 00:00:46 video and I don't want to just show you
00:00:45 00:00:48 the product I want to explain where I
00:00:46 00:00:50 was running my ads what I was doing at
00:00:48 00:00:52 least how I thought about it as well as
00:00:50 00:00:55 kind of what worked and why so I want to
00:00:52 00:00:57 break all of that down it was about a
00:00:55 00:00:58 year and a half to two years ago for
00:00:57 00:00:59 some of these things I'm going to show
00:00:58 00:01:01 you so it is a little outdated I'm gonna
00:00:59 00:01:03 do my best to remember but this will
00:01:01 00:01:05 help you so much kind of transferring
00:01:03 00:01:07 that over and using those principles now
00:01:05 00:01:10 so before I get into it by the way this

00:02:29 00:02:32 know made us ten thousand dollars
00:02:30 00:02:34 seventy two thousand in a single month
00:02:32 00:02:36 with about eighty percent profit margins
00:02:34 00:02:38 so if you're toking about you know just
00:02:36 00:02:40 one product with one AD doing you know
00:02:38 00:02:42 five figures multi five figures and now
00:02:40 00:02:44 six figures with you know one single
00:02:42 00:02:46 thing then what is it to spend a couple
00:02:44 00:02:47 hundred dollars to kind of learn that
00:02:46 00:02:49 and get into it you know you got to be
00:02:47 00:02:50 in the right mindset about that so that
00:02:49 00:02:52 is kind of the biggest mistake I made

00:02:53 00:02:57 mental struggles that really come with
00:02:55 00:02:58 getting started with this a lot of the
00:02:57 00:03:00 issues I ran into and a lot of the

00:03:06 00:03:08 inside of my computer keep in mind again
00:03:07 00:03:11 I already mentioned at the beginning
00:03:08 00:03:12 that these are outdated obviously this
00:03:11 00:03:13 is like my first stuff about two years
00:03:12 00:03:14 ago
00:03:13 00:03:16 I'm gonna go through break it down and
00:03:14 00:03:18 show you I'm gonna start off with what
00:03:16 00:03:20 was the very first product it was
00:03:18 00:03:22 actually us on a collective store so it
00:03:20 00:03:23 was myself and three other people we had
00:03:22 00:03:25 someone running the Instagram
00:03:23 00:03:26 influencers shout outs someone
00:03:25 00:03:27 fulfilling the orders which didn't
00:03:26 00:03:29 really make sense to do in person at the
00:03:27 00:03:31 time but we didn't know any better and
00:03:29 00:03:32 then one person who's kind of managing
00:03:31 00:03:34 everything building site adding products
00:03:32 00:03:36 I was doing email marketing myself and
00:03:34 00:03:38 helping make ad copy for the Instagram
00:03:36 00:03:39 influencers shoutouts so I'll explain
00:03:38 00:03:41 more about the marketing once I show it
00:03:39 00:03:43 to you but let's jump inside of my
00:03:41 00:03:45 computer alright so this is not by any
00:03:43 00:03:48 means the exact listing that we were
00:03:45 00:03:51 using however the first product was the
00:03:48 00:03:52 infamous fidget spinner now the reason
00:03:51 00:03:55 I'm bringing this one up first is
00:03:52 00:03:56 because this was not my first product I
00:03:55 00:03:58 did not pick the product I did not build
00:03:56 00:04:00 the storm to show you which ones I did
00:03:58 00:04:02 here in a moment this was the first ever
00:04:00 00:04:04 Shopify store that I took apart and I
00:04:02 00:04:06 took a minority equity share for free
00:04:04 00:04:08 just in exchange for my skill
00:04:06 00:04:10 I hope take that store from 40,000 a
00:04:08 00:04:12 month to its peak which we did 70,000
00:04:10 00:04:15 and then 72,000 in its top two months
00:04:12 00:04:16 and now the thing with this is this is
00:04:15 00:04:17 when I was down in Miami when I was 16 I
00:04:16 00:04:19 lived there
00:04:17 00:04:20 about two months and I was on off there
00:04:19 00:04:22 like I you know I'd go home for like two
00:04:20 00:04:23 weeks back for two weeks so super cool
00:04:22 00:04:25 that was where I first really got
00:04:23 00:04:27 introduced to e-commerce and I'd never
00:04:25 00:04:29 even heard of Shopify or anything like
00:04:27 00:04:31 that that's where I started seeing money
00:04:29 00:04:33 come in and from there I was like yo we
00:04:31 00:04:35 have got like I've got to learn this
00:04:33 00:04:37 gotta replicated again I was only doing
00:04:35 00:04:38 a small part so what I said what the
00:04:37 00:04:42 profit margins being extremely high
00:04:38 00:04:44 about 80% our only cost the literal only
00:04:42 00:04:46 cost was the product which was about a
00:04:44 00:04:49 dollar to a dollar fifty we were selling
00:04:46 00:04:50 them for like 995 so just a regular free
00:04:49 00:04:53 plus shipping offer to keep in mind this
00:04:50 00:04:55 is two years ago two years ago when free
00:04:53 00:04:57 plus shipping was booming I'm not saying
00:04:55 00:04:59 it doesn't work but imagine back then
00:04:57 00:05:01 when people really didn't know and it
00:04:59 00:05:03 was a crazy offer with a viral product
00:05:01 00:05:05 and we own so here's the cool thing
00:05:03 00:05:06 about the marketing and why we don't
00:05:05 00:05:08 have to pay for ad spend
00:05:06 00:05:09 we owned all the different Instagram
00:05:08 00:05:11 influencer pages so for those of you who
00:05:09 00:05:12 know what I used to do I used it on a
00:05:11 00:05:14 ton of pages thankfully the main guy who
00:05:12 00:05:16 was running the store owned even bigger
00:05:14 00:05:18 pages and you know we knew all these
00:05:16 00:05:20 other people in influencer space so you
00:05:18 00:05:22 know we would do a shadow for shout out
00:05:20 00:05:24 exchange whatever they owed us favors so
00:05:22 00:05:25 we were able to really get that out
00:05:24 00:05:28 there and you know whenever you post
00:05:25 00:05:30 boom for free you just get 2 grand in
00:05:28 00:05:31 sales like that 3 games 3 grand like
00:05:30 00:05:33 that 700 bucks you know whatever the
00:05:31 00:05:35 pages and it was crazy to see you're
00:05:33 00:05:37 firing off multiple ads a day it was
00:05:35 00:05:40 really really cool and so again that was
00:05:37 00:05:41 my first kind of taste of that and you
00:05:40 00:05:43 know that that taught me a lot about
00:05:41 00:05:45 business first of all like the people I
00:05:43 00:05:47 was with or not exactly the right people
00:05:45 00:05:48 you know in the club blowing money and
00:05:47 00:05:50 it wasn't consistent you know one week
00:05:48 00:05:51 could be like 40 grand the next week
00:05:50 00:05:52 could be like three because they
00:05:51 00:05:53 wouldn't really really be partying all
00:05:52 00:05:55 of it was it was really interesting to
00:05:53 00:05:57 see but you know either way that really
00:05:55 00:05:58 got me in EECOM that was the first
00:05:57 00:06:01 product the fidgets spinner which I'm
00:05:58 00:06:02 sure almost all of you are aware of that
00:06:01 00:06:05 absolutely blew up like one of the most
00:06:02 00:06:07 legendary products on the internet to
00:06:05 00:06:09 date now the product that actually made
00:06:07 00:06:11 me my first sale this is where I was the
00:06:09 00:06:13 sole owner on a store I built the store
00:06:11 00:06:14 was a terrible one like I picked the
00:06:13 00:06:16 name I did the product research found it
00:06:14 00:06:18 I was running Facebook Ads with this and
00:06:16 00:06:21 for those of you who might have heard
00:06:18 00:06:22 where I said I spent five or I had five
00:06:21 00:06:25 grand and I spent forty seven hundred
00:06:22 00:06:27 when trying to learn Facebook Ads I got
00:06:25 00:06:29 one sale this is that sale so I spent
00:06:27 00:06:30 four thousand seven hundred US dollars
00:06:29 00:06:33 to
00:06:30 00:06:37 get a u.s. dollar thirteen point nine
00:06:33 00:06:40 five sale $14 not even so that margin
00:06:37 00:06:42 was very skewed but however this is the
00:06:40 00:06:44 product so he was a strapless lifter bra
00:06:42 00:06:45 it absolutely blew up it was this this
00:06:44 00:06:48 one right here again I don't know the
00:06:45 00:06:49 exact listing but with no straps so I
00:06:48 00:06:51 know some people started to post it all
00:06:49 00:06:53 over social media this blew up I
00:06:51 00:06:55 actually know a lot of people in
00:06:53 00:06:56 e-commerce space who made six figures
00:06:55 00:06:58 off this product I mean there was
00:06:56 00:07:00 listings on how they expressed with
00:06:58 00:07:02 fifty thousand orders so it really blew
00:07:00 00:07:04 up and it also wasn't that expensive to
00:07:02 00:07:06 get it was only a couple of dollars so
00:07:04 00:07:07 if you brand it at the right way people
00:07:06 00:07:08 are selling for upwards of thirty
00:07:07 00:07:10 dollars I was doing I think like a
00:07:08 00:07:12 fourteen I did the thirteen ninety five
00:07:10 00:07:14 but I was trying to feel like fifteen
00:07:12 00:07:16 bucks 20 bucks 25 bucks and you know it
00:07:14 00:07:18 really was a big product they're not a
00:07:16 00:07:20 very big move for a lot longer than the
00:07:18 00:07:22 fidgets spinner which was cool because
00:07:20 00:07:23 it's kind of a necessity but started
00:07:22 00:07:25 getting a little bit of bad reviews and
00:07:23 00:07:27 whatnot so not for me of course I wasn't
00:07:25 00:07:28 really getting any traffic but that's
00:07:27 00:07:30 what may be the first sale so I was
00:07:28 00:07:32 actually running ads for five months
00:07:30 00:07:35 trying to learn Facebook ads every
00:07:32 00:07:36 single ad was a $5 a day optimizing for
00:07:35 00:07:38 purchase with probably every interest I
00:07:36 00:07:39 didn't even know what an arrow was
00:07:38 00:07:40 didn't know how to exclude which if you
00:07:39 00:07:42 guys don't know how to do that it's
00:07:40 00:07:44 totally fine that's what I'm here for
00:07:42 00:07:46 but you know I knew nothing about the
00:07:44 00:07:47 advertising process let alone the
00:07:46 00:07:49 marketing let alone the branding
00:07:47 00:07:50 building all this stuff out so the super
00:07:49 00:07:53 interesting is just a learning
00:07:50 00:07:55 experience right so that sale for 1395
00:07:53 00:07:57 came in the second month which was cool
00:07:55 00:07:59 my perfect this is it this is it you
00:07:57 00:08:01 know mom we're gonna be rich and you
00:07:59 00:08:04 know then the next month rolls around
00:08:01 00:08:06 nothing the next month nothing I
00:08:04 00:08:08 remember too I got excited with that one
00:08:06 00:08:09 sale that I raised the budget just
00:08:08 00:08:12 directly on the ad front when I got one
00:08:09 00:08:14 purchase from $5 to $10 a day I'd raise
00:08:12 00:08:15 it boom and you know maybe I had
00:08:14 00:08:16 something maybe I was onto something
00:08:15 00:08:18 that was working I didn't know how to
00:08:16 00:08:20 scale which obviously you can't scale
00:08:18 00:08:22 with just one purchase so it was super
00:08:20 00:08:23 interesting to see him you know that's
00:08:22 00:08:25 definitely one Avenue where I don't want
00:08:23 00:08:26 to say I went down the wrong path like
00:08:25 00:08:27 yeah I didn't take the approach of
00:08:26 00:08:29 learning so there's a lot of like
00:08:27 00:08:31 testing myself and that's what people
00:08:29 00:08:32 don't realize is if you're trying to
00:08:31 00:08:34 figure it out on your own I'm not saying
00:08:32 00:08:36 you can't do it like I somewhat you know
00:08:34 00:08:37 I still went and got that help after I
00:08:36 00:08:39 got kicked in the balls and failed
00:08:37 00:08:42 however you're gonna spend eight
00:08:39 00:08:44 exponential amount more money and it's
00:08:42 00:08:46 gonna take you a lot more time so
00:08:44 00:08:47 negatives right people like all I'm
00:08:46 00:08:48 gonna save the mold you're not gonna
00:08:47 00:08:50 save the money okay I went through that
00:08:48 00:08:53 so this was the product that really did
00:08:50 00:08:56 that however let me explain the product
00:08:53 00:08:58 that let me hit income excuse me with in
00:08:56 00:09:00 addition to one other product these two
00:08:58 00:09:02 products led me to ten thousand a month
00:09:00 00:09:04 okay so this is the one right here if
00:09:02 00:09:05 you see it the Husky iPhone case some of
00:09:04 00:09:07 you may have seen this I've shown this
00:09:05 00:09:09 product like once about a year ago this
00:09:07 00:09:11 was the one that did extremely well and
00:09:09 00:09:14 I was also selling an upsell with a
00:09:11 00:09:17 husky necklace so it was a dog store
00:09:14 00:09:18 windage down for the husky however I was
00:09:17 00:09:20 not running Facebook ads at all this is
00:09:18 00:09:22 when I rewrote it back to Instagram
00:09:20 00:09:24 remember I failed with Facebook I
00:09:22 00:09:25 completely failed to Facebook switch to
00:09:24 00:09:26 Instagram which again I used to own
00:09:25 00:09:29 Instagram influencer pages so I knew a
00:09:26 00:09:30 lot about that space started making
00:09:29 00:09:32 money fairly quick and I was able to
00:09:30 00:09:33 transition that I don't want to say just
00:09:32 00:09:35 transition back into Facebook cuz that
00:09:33 00:09:37 makes it sound like it was successful
00:09:35 00:09:39 but slowly start trying to learn
00:09:37 00:09:40 Facebook throughout that so started
00:09:39 00:09:43 making some money between this and a
00:09:40 00:09:44 necklace that was the first store that
00:09:43 00:09:45 you know really started actually getting
00:09:44 00:09:48 some momentum like that's where I'm like
00:09:45 00:09:50 okay you know I got a thousand-dollar
00:09:48 00:09:53 wire from Shopify like a four figure
00:09:50 00:09:55 payment from Shopify hits my bank
00:09:53 00:09:58 account that's kind of cool you know at
00:09:55 00:09:59 the time that was a big milestone so you
00:09:58 00:10:02 know the the reason that this product
00:09:59 00:10:04 did well was very simple Instagram
00:10:02 00:10:06 influencers were not tapped into at the
00:10:04 00:10:09 time so all I did was I made a cool
00:10:06 00:10:11 looking at I had a really good offer and
00:10:09 00:10:12 I posted it and I posted it across
00:10:11 00:10:15 multiple different pages some didn't
00:10:12 00:10:17 work some did I made sure was a niche
00:10:15 00:10:19 congruence so it was a dog product I put
00:10:17 00:10:21 it on a dog page simple as that it's
00:10:19 00:10:22 very similar to running literally any
00:10:21 00:10:25 other product if you want to sell beats
00:10:22 00:10:27 maybe put it on a tiknology page
00:10:25 00:10:29 however this is also a type of product
00:10:27 00:10:31 it might work on a personal brand you
00:10:29 00:10:33 see people DJ cow it's coming out with
00:10:31 00:10:35 the new pair of beats in collaboration
00:10:33 00:10:37 using his personal brand to sell that so
00:10:35 00:10:38 there's a lot of different ways to do
00:10:37 00:10:40 this you know Instagram influencers
00:10:38 00:10:42 still work just not these types of pages
00:10:40 00:10:43 you know there's two types of pages that
00:10:42 00:10:45 work there's three different types of
00:10:43 00:10:46 ads that we run all that's broken down
00:10:45 00:10:48 inside of the program so photos you are
00:10:46 00:10:50 in there you already know that and if
00:10:48 00:10:51 you're not in there again please save
00:10:50 00:10:53 yourself the trouble if you can I guess
00:10:51 00:10:54 afford to get in or it makes sense for
00:10:53 00:10:56 you or you want to learn that then go
00:10:54 00:10:56 ahead and do so I'll leave it link
00:10:56 00:10:58 somewhere
00:10:56 00:11:01 down below but understanding the
00:10:58 00:11:03 congruence aspect but also you want to
00:11:01 00:11:04 go general right if I'm gonna only run
00:11:03 00:11:07 these on let's just again for this
00:11:04 00:11:09 example only target people interested in
00:11:07 00:11:11 tiknology well I don't really follow
00:11:09 00:11:13 any tiknology pages yet I have a pair
00:11:11 00:11:15 of beats it's because you know it helps
00:11:13 00:11:16 me work you could sell it as a focused
00:11:15 00:11:18 product something I was just at the gym
00:11:16 00:11:21 like 30 minutes ago you know using that
00:11:18 00:11:22 so there's other areas while branching
00:11:21 00:11:24 out once you get it working in a
00:11:22 00:11:27 specific space so there's a lot to goes
00:11:24 00:11:28 in do you know Shopify I failed over and
00:11:27 00:11:30 over and over and over and over and over
00:11:28 00:11:31 and over again I know what it's like
00:11:30 00:11:34 I've been through the wringer I've
00:11:31 00:11:36 gotten my ass beat but you know tough to
00:11:34 00:11:38 complain where we are now so I run a lot
00:11:36 00:11:39 a lot of different stores six-figure
00:11:38 00:11:41 stores actually almost all multi
00:11:39 00:11:42 six-figure stores some are being scaled
00:11:41 00:11:45 and some that actually do six figures a
00:11:42 00:11:47 month so that's super super cool I'm
00:11:45 00:11:49 super excited about it I love q4 right
00:11:47 00:11:50 now we're coming in hot with less than
00:11:49 00:11:52 30 days until Black Friday and Cyber
00:11:50 00:11:54 Monday and then you got holidays right
00:11:52 00:11:55 after that with I mean even
00:11:54 00:11:57 Thanksgivings coming up too but you got
00:11:55 00:11:59 Christmas in New Year's it is the best
00:11:57 00:12:01 time of the year it is the best time to
00:11:59 00:12:03 start ecommerce it is not too late my
00:12:01 00:12:04 computer's ringing it's literally insane
00:12:03 00:12:05 so it's kind of my favorite time of the
00:12:04 00:12:08 year and I love going into the new year
00:12:05 00:12:10 as well as we go past that and in there
00:12:08 00:12:14 actually my personal favorite holiday
00:12:10 00:12:15 with e-commerce Valentine's Day so it'll
00:12:14 00:12:16 be a lot of fun if you guys have not
