My WORST Shopify Dropshipping Mistakes Of 2020

My WORST Shopify Dropshipping Mistakes Of 2020

yo what is going on everybody srikanasa
here so my top
five mistakes with drop shipping that i
made
in the year of 2020. now let's face it
everybody makes mistakes but
the most important thing is that you
actually learn from those mistakes
and make sure that they don't happen
again because if it happens one time and
it's the first time that it ever
happened
that means it could have just
accidentally happened it may not be your
fault
but if that same exact mistake happens
two times
then it is your fault and you are fully
the reason why that same mistake
happened again
in my opinion these mistakes are
actually the turning points which
completely changed the way i did
drop shipping which kind of made me
realize that what i was doing previously
is not working that's why i was able to
consistently
run my shopify store during one of the
most craziest theaters the world has
ever seen
and come out on top at the end but this
was unfortunately not the case for a lot
of people especially
those people running drop shipping
stores or just e-commerce stores in
general
in the year of 2020 but make sure to
watch this video until the end because
these five mistakes
are ones which you can possibly do if
you don't
and waste a lot of money but let's just
get right into it the first mistake that
you don't want to really do
when it comes to drop shipping is to not
destroy that like button
just take two quick seconds just smash
that like button down below until it
turns blue okay hopefully i've done that
but let's start with mistake number one
for drop shipping that is
not using various different suppliers to
source
products from especially those products
which we're actually selling and there
are two reasons
why this was a big mistake for me in my
opinion
reason number one was that because of
this because i was only focusing on one
supplier
maybe through aliexpress or ebay or
amazon wherever i was getting the
product from
when that product went out of stok for
that supplier
that was it that was the end for me i
could no longer sell that product and if
i had just
went ahead and tried to find different
suppliers selling that product from the
beginning
i would have never faced something like
this this is a mistake a lot of
especially beginner drop shippers make
because
they feel like this since they're not
really getting any sales or the sales
that they're getting for a product
are not too big what they can do is just
get away with just having one supplier
not doing anything else and that is one
of the biggest mistakes
you can do because pretty soon that
supplier could just simply say that that
product is out of stok
and if you're not able to find other
people to source that product from
especially when you're scaling
that is it for that product not only are
you going to have to refund a lot of
orders
but you're also going to have a lot of
angry customers and just lost money at
the end so this is one mistake that i
was making
consistently because i was so involved
in just adding new products
every day i failed to really look into
which products were going out of stok
so i could remove them completely
from my store and it definitely cost me
money but that is one reason why
the reason number two is there are some
websites such as amazon
or ebay which if you place too many
orders getting shipped to different
addresses all the time
they could possibly ban your account and
close it down completely that is exactly
what happened to my amazon account
while i was scaling a few products all
of a sudden amazon started asking me for
bank statements for that card even after
i provided that bank statement
because my va were signing into that
account from a different country
amazon found that very risky and uh
possibly fraud and because of that
they decided to just shut down my
account even though i had all of the
documentation
ready for them this is one of the
biggest mistakes i made which was
relying too much on amazon
as a result the last minute i had to
scramble onto ebay aliexpress
private suppliers to really source those
products and get those orders shipped
for my customers but if i had just from
the beginning made sure to have backup
suppliers for those products
especially those which were selling i
would have never faced these issues i
would have never had to refund so many
orders so
this is really one big mistake which is
why it's on top of my list but make sure
just in from the beginning
have different suppliers ready to go for
products especially those
that are winning but that brings me to
point number two on the list and that is
expanding too quickly especially into
advertising platforms
without really being ready for it now
what do i mean by this exactly
what a lot of people do is they think
that shopify and drop shipping is all
about just scaling
once you get those few orders make sure
to pump money into different ad
platforms if you can
so you can change that order from 1 to
10 then 10 to 100
and so forth but what they fail to
realize is that if they don't have the
proper systems in place
before they even consider doing that
everything is just going to come
crumbling down
and you want to think of shopify or just
dropshipping in general as
a building every building out there has
a very very strong foundation
those buildings that didn't have strong
foundations well they're probably
already falling
and that is exactly what happens with
shopify drop shipping source if your
foundation is weak
meaning your back end is not good enough
you're the only person
fulfilling all those orders answering
customer service doing everything else
it's going to really take a toll on that
foundation if that is a weak foundation
your shopify store will definitely come
crumbling down especially if you decide
to expand onto different advertising
platforms
this is one thing towards the beginning
of this year i wanted to do mostly i
just wanted to expand and throw money on
every single platform out there
bing ads google ads facebook etc and
what happened was because i was just
doing that
because i was not really focusing on one
thing at a time my money was just
unnecessarily getting spent
a lot of times i was wasting money on
certain advertising platforms without
getting the results that i wanted and i
didn't even have time to look at those
results because
i was just so busy trying to expand onto
these different advertising platforms so
this is definitely one mistake if i
could go back in time and change
i would because on the contrary to this
i would simply
try to focus on one thing at a time
maybe one advertising platform like
google
make sure i'm getting consistent
positive return on ad spend
before i actually look into maybe going
into bing ads or something else because
that is going to save me a lot of money
and that is for you the same thing if
you try to do too many things at one
i don't care how good you are at
multitasking it will come to bite you
later on especially if you're not sure
of any of the advertising platforms
you're trying to get into so
definitely make sure to do one thing at
a time when it comes to ads
focus on one advertising platform make
sure you have a winning product there
make sure you're getting consistent
results there and then move on to
something else but that brings me to the
third mistake which i did this year and
that is
not fulfilling orders fast enough for a
lot of people
including me getting those orders is a
very exciting thing
it's really good to hear that
notification sound come from shopify
every time you get a sale
but for majority of the people
especially those that don't really find
any type of long-term success
that is where their excitement ends
they're not really excited to fulfill
their orders they're not really excited
to make sure their customers are
satisfied
or that they get their products on time
and because of this their shopify sales
chart
starts to go up up and then slowly it
starts to go back down
and by that time they're figuring things
out as to why this even happened it's
already too late
they have angry customers a bunch of
chargebacks and shopify wants to close
down their website so
in order to prevent all of this make
sure your excitement stiks through
through the notification sound from
shopify on to fulfilling orders as well
because
fulfilling order should be an exciting
thing for you because you got money for
these orders you made a good profit
hopefully at least from these orders
what you want to do then is go ahead and
ship them as fast as possible
make sure you're checking your orders
list daily trying to get them ordered as
soon as possible because regardless of
where you order those products from
whether it be aliexpress ebay amazon etc
those suppliers are going to take just a
few days maybe up to a week or so
whatever this handling time is for them
to get this order shipped out so if you
are ready from the beginning a delay
ordering those products from your
supplier then it's going to cause even
more delays
by the time the customer gets the
product they may not even want it
anymore and that's going to lead
to further angry customers as well as
chargeback so one
easy solution to this is just fulfill
orders as fast as you can
preferably within two to three days of
when you receive them and by this i mean
just order that product on aliexpress or
wherever you source it from
that does not mean that it should be
shipped within two to three days
however whatever your handling time is
make sure you're honest about it in the
description
for that store but that is definitely
one mistake i did in the year of 2020
which hopefully
in the year of 2021 i focus more on and
make sure that never happens again
because it could really
be a huge liability for the business but
let's move on to mistake number four and
that is
focusing on sales over profits let's
face it everybody wants to see those big
numbers a million dollars 10 million 100
but what they fail to realize is that
those numbers are just numbers on a
screen they're not numbers on your bank
account
what goes inside your bank account is
the profits you get after getting rid of
all of your expenses
and because a lot of people don't really
check their bank accounts too often
what happens is that they end up
focusing on the number on the screen
maybe on their shopify dashboard
and they just focus on that without
really knowing whether they're even
profitable or not this seems like a
thing that could not possibly be true
but
it is definitely true for a lot of drop
shippers out there they just fail to
realize whether they're profitable or
not
and in the end when they do calculate
their profits they find out they're in a
loss but they have done a lot in sales
if you don't want to be like that make
sure to always check your numbers
make sure to check whether you're really
getting any profits daily or not i
recommend going in every single week and
to order metrics or whatever
platform you use to track down your
profits and checking how much profit you
made
within the week whether it was more or
less and what and then go and check
daily what did you do on a given date to
make it go up or make it go down et
cetera because not only is this going to
let you know whether you're profitable
or not
but it's going to let you know exactly
what you did to become even more
profitable
so you can do more of it and get even
more profit so in the long term this is
a very beneficial thing to do but
definitely one of the most important
things you can do in 2021
focus on profits and only profits not
sales sales are important but not more
than profits but let's move on to
the final mistake which i think should
not be made by dropshippers and that is
not properly checking the shipping
address this seems like a very very
small thing but this is one mistake i
was consistently making on
a lot of the orders what i would do or
what one of my suppliers would do is
they would ship it to the billing
address
rather than the shipping address and
this was just done out of mistake not
really paying attention to what address
was getting inserted
during the ordering process and this
caused big issues when it came to the
customers
but this again may seem very very small
but it does happen often i know it
happened for me a lot this year
which is why i've started to become more
focused when i do the ordering to make
sure i'm not making the same exact
mistake
because it does cost the customer money
to then have to
fix this issue up make sure it gets
shipped to the right address and all
sorts of those things which you can just
avoid
by just shipping to the right address
again very simple thing but me
one mistake i see myself making also a
lot of drop ships make but
these are my five mistakes for the year
of 2020 that you should definitely try
not to
repeat but if you found any type of
value in this video
make sure to smash that like button and
make sure to subscribe and i'll see you
guys next time
