Shopify SEO (2022) — Simple Guide to Ranking, 12-Step Process

Hey there, it’s Matt from Style Factory, the go-to site for ecommerce reviews and advice.,In this Shopify SEO guide, I’m going to walk you through the key steps you need to,take to make sure your store ranks highly in search results.,So stay tuned to the end to get all our tips on how to increase your Shopify’s store’s,organic traffic and sales.,But before I get going, just a quick reminder to subscribe to our channel and click the, notifications bell.,This means you won’t miss out on any of our Shopify content going forward.,Right, let’s start with something that's quick and easy to do, but also very important,— telling search engines that your site exists.,One — register your site with Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster tools.,Registering a site with Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools is a key starting, point for Shopify SEO.,By registering your site with these services, you’re telling Google and Bing about your, website and helping it to get indexed faster.,Once you’ve registered your site with these services, you then need to submit a sitemap,to them.,Helpfully, Shopify generates a sitemap automatikally for you — it’s simply yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml.,In both Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools you can submit this sitemap URL by going,to your site’s dashboard, and then clicking ‘sitemaps.’,Two — ensure your Shopify store is loading quickly.,Search engines give fast sites preference over slower ones.,To ensure that your Shopify store loads as quickly as possible, remove any Shopify apps, that you don’t need, avoid using a large number of web fonts on your site, use image, compression tools like Tiny Png to reduce the size of your store’s pictures, keep, use of external scripts on your store to a minimum.,Three — do your keyword research.,A key part of improving your Shopify store's search rankings is to ensure that your store’s,pages and products contain the keywords that people are actually searching for.,To do this, you’ll need to perform keyword research.,Keyword research typically involves getting three key pieces of information: the keywords, that people are using when looking for sites or products like yours, the volume of searches, for those keywords, how difficult it is to rank for each keyword.,When you have these three pieces of information, you can identify ‘sweet spots’ – keywords, that are popular enough to generate a reasonable amount of traffic, without being so popular, that there are lots of other sites already dominating search results for them.,Getting this data involves using dedicated keyword research tools like Ahrefs or Semrush.,These let you find out how popular your preferred keywords are, and how difficult it will be,to rank for them.,You’ll find links to more information about Ahrefs and Semrush in the video description.,Four — get your page and product titles right.,One of the most important elements of a web page is its title.,Search engines treat it as a key piece of information when categorizing your content,,and your title shows up as the largest component of a search result.,You should ensure that your Shopify page and blog post titles are never vague in nature,,and always start with your target keyword.,To edit your home page title in Shopify, click Online Store > Preferences in your store’s,dashboard.,Then, use the box provided to enter your home page title.,To edit other page titles, just navigate to your page, post or product in your Shopify, dashboard.,Then, scroll down to the bottom of its settings and click the ‘Edit website SEO’ link,on the search engine listing preview.,You’ll then be able to edit your title.,Five — use headings properly.,Instead of using bold text to break up the text for your Shopify pages or products, always, apply Heading 1s, 2s, 3s and so on to do so.,This will make it much easier for search engines to index your content accurately, and wil, alsol make it more accessible to any of your store visitors who have a visual impairment, and use screen readers.,Six — use engaging meta descriptions.,Meta descriptions are the summaries of web pages that appear under page titles in search, results.,Although Google says that they aren’t a ranking factor, a well-written meta description, can encourage more clickthroughs to your website.,And because the clickthrough rate of a search result IS considered a ranking factor, it’s,important to get meta descriptions right.,Your meta description for your Shopify products and pages should: be short (120 to 156 characters,in length is best), be accurate, include your target keywords.,To edit your home page's meta description in Shopify, click Online Store > Preferences, and enter it into the ‘homepage meta description’ box provided.,To edit a meta description for other types of pages, locate your page, post or product,in your Shopify dashboard and then scroll down to the the ‘Edit website SEO’ link,in the search engine listing preview.,You'll then get the option to edit your meta description.,Seven — ensure your product titles and descriptions are unique.,A common way of speeding up the process of adding products to a Shopify store involves, using the 'Duplicate product' option.,While this is a quick way to add a new product to your store, it can lead to a lot of similar,or even entirely duplicated product titles and descriptions being created.,This is something that search engines algorithms don’t like, so always try to make your product, titles and descriptions as unique as you can.,Eight — optimize your alt text and image names.,Search engines don’t just examine the words on your Shopify store when indexing it — they, factor in its images too.,To do this, they look at two bits of data associated with your pictures: ‘alt text’,and file names.,To add alt text to images on Shopify pages or posts, navigate to your page / post, locate, the relevant picture and double click on it.,You’ll then see a box appear containing an alt text field.,Enter your alt text in here, making sure that it contains any necessary target keywords,— while still making sense to those using screen readers.,To add alt text to product images, navigate to your product in your Shopify dashboard,,then click on the relevant product image.,Click the 'Alt Text' option to the right of the image to add your alt text.,As for optimizing file names, changing them is not partikularly easy in Shopify — so,it’s best to optimize your file names before you upload them to the platform.,This means ensuring your focus keyword is in the file name, and that the file name is,short.,If you do have to change an image file name after you’ve uploaded it to Shopify, you’ll,need to delete your existing image and re-upload a version that contains your focus keywords,in its file name.,Nine — use clean URLS.,Using ‘clean’, SEO-friendly URLs is something that is encouraged by Google.,Clean URLs are short, simple and easy to understand.,For example, if you were selling a red guitar on your store, it would be better to use a,URL slug of red-guitar for the relevant product page instead of something long and complicated.,To edit a URL in Shopify, go to the page, product or post you wish to edit, scroll down,to the bottom of it and then click 'Edit Website SEO.',Then, enter your URL into the 'URL and handle' box.,If you are changing an existing URL, make sure that you tik the 'create URL redirect',option.,This prevents users (and Google!) encountering broken links, and lets Google knows that you, have changed the URL.,Now, changing the URLs of pages that aren't currently performing well in search results,is usually fine — but if you’re thinking about changing the URL of a page that IS already, ranking highly, it’s often best to take an ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix’ it,approach.,Changing the URL of a popular page can also affect its 'social proof', because it will, reset the stats displayed on your social shares counter for that page to zero.,Ten — add rich snippets to your products and pages,Rich snippets are pieces of

Shopify SEO Hacks: Rank Higher With These Easy Tips

we do seo for shopify and we also do it,for wordpress and i'll be honest, wordpress is way easier so if you have a,shopify website and you're looking for, some different hacks,to get your site ranked on google for, your different products stay tuned this, video is for you,[Music],hey guys my name is chris morano chief, executive officer at bluewater marketing, and owner of an e-commerce brand and so,i kind of know a lot about search engine, optimization and e-commerce and that's,what this video is all about, shopify search engine optimization hacks,so we all know that shopify is kind of a,different platform than many others, right it's not the easiest to use, especially in the developer world and,it's also not the easiest to use for, search engine optimization because for, like wordpress sites we have plugins, like yoast seo, link whisper multitude of different, plugins to really help optimize our, websites shopify on the other hand is,really performance driven sales driven,we have plugins for upsells plugins for, bundles plugins for subscriptions not, that much available for search engine, optimization so really optimizing the, site becomes vital and i'm going to give, you my top hacks for search engine, optimization for your shopify store the, first is your site structure so shopify, automatikally generates your xml sitemap, which is great but then there are some, weird little wonky things that take, place in shopify for example if you have,a blogs page and then you have a,news section your slug is ecommerce, store dot com forward slash blog forward, slash blogs uh forward slash news and, you're like why is there duplicate, forward slash in there that doesn't need,to be there so setting up your site, structure is so important so that google, can crawl it based on your categories, and your layout of your site so let's,say you have five different categories,of products and within those you have, five different products so now you have,25 different products with pages, descriptions and titles that all need to,be crawled that's where your site, structure becomes important so you'll,have home page other pages products, categories products so you'll have like, your home page apparel men's apparel, women's apparel and then the products, coming off of that and so that makes it,easier for google to crawl it and, understand the site structure so that it,can rank your pages individually and it,can also rank your products individually,so go back look at your site structure, and determine that all the categories, fall under the correct places now this,is an on-page seo aspect within your, product descriptions and your product, pages your about page your home page, determine what keywords you need to rank, for so if you are a,makeup company you want to be super, specific about how you are writing your, lipstik copy versus your eyeliner copy, you need to make sure that you're using, keywords that can be duplicated but not, stuffed onto your product description, pages in order to rank on google because, without keywords without copy you will, never rank and i have a video right up,here,it's all about the top seo content tools, for 2021 so if you're a little confused,on how to write these topics how to find, out who is ranking for these keywords go,ahead click the link, somewhere up here check those out and, then come back and we'll keep going with, shopify seo hacks, and while i have you for a minute if you, guys like this video give me a thumbs up,let's get back into it next item is to,make sure that once you've done all the, writing you are incorporating metadata, title tags header tags meta descriptions, your slugs everything that is optimized, for the keywords that you are trying to,rank for in the pages now remember, google doesn't rank websites it ranks, pages so you need to make sure that your, pages specifically each of them are, optimized for the specific primary, keyword and secondary and third keywords, that you're looking to rank for missed, opportunities my next tip is to add alt, text to all of your images so if your, product images do not have alt text well, then google's crawling an image that, doesn't have a description and so it has,no idea what it is again if you're a,female makeup brand you have lipstik, your product needs to be,xyz brand, natural lipstik red or whatever it's,written now probably could be even a,little bit better than that but i'm,freestyling right now so make sure every, single one of your images on your, shopify store has alt text to it getting, back to content blog that's it just blog,if you're that makeup brand make sure, you are blogging about the latest tips, and trends in makeups cruelty free or,animal cruelty free lipstik whatever, these topics are you need to start, blogging which will then rank on google, because the chances are that you can, rank for a blog way before you're going,to ever rank for red lipstik so you, need to start finding these different, topics, that don't have much keyword difficulty,or competitive nature find those drive, people to your website via google search, and now you're building that brand trust, within your potential customers and, you'll start getting way more traffic to,your shopify store and then you have way, more customers and email subscribers, that you can start interacting with as,your brand secret little super easy hack,is always link your product pages from, your home page your home page will, always have a higher page authority than, any other page in your website and so,it's called internal linking you want to,take your home page and spread that link, equity throughout your site or,throughout your top pages which are, always going to be your product pages, because those are where people purchase, from so make sure you're doing internal, linking home page to most important, pages and you'll start to see those, pages also start ranking higher i'm,gonna blow through a quick list of more, tiknical things, that you guys can keep researching for,i'm gonna leave a link in the, description below to help you guys have,a better idea of all of these checklists,in terms of tiknical seo first, robots.tx file you need this then you, also need your sitemaps.xml from there, you create a google search console, account and upload both to it you need,to get your google analytiks account and, link everything together so that you're,gonna start to be able to look at the, traffic trends where these people are, coming from which pages they're going to,and start to formulate a more in-depth,search engine optimization campaign and, then from there you need to start, creating backlinks and again click the, link, right up here, right here, that will break down how to get links to,your shopify store to build your, rankings now the key is you want your, backlinks to be spread across your site,so pick out the top 10 or 15 most, important pages that you have on your, shopify store, and you need to get backlinks for each,of those now you can of course do it to,your home page or your different blogs, but make sure that you're doing it,evenly across the board and if you need, information about backlinks another, video check it out i hope you guys, enjoyed this video if you did give me a,thumbs up hit that subscribe button and, follow us on facebook instagram twitter, linkedin and check out the blue water, marketing blog Shopify SEO Optimisation (a Beginners Guide)

most shopify stores suck for seo but, they don't have to in this video i'm,going to show you how to seo your, shopify store so you can increase your, organic traffic rankings and most, importantly sales my name is tim i run, exposure ninja and we work with loads of,shopify stores and other e-commerce,businesses to help them generate more, sales in fact we've taken e-commerce,store clients from five to eight figures,in annual revenue through organic, traffic so we know a thing or two about, how to optimize an e-commerce store in,this video i'm going to be sharing some, shopify optimization strategies that you,can apply to your store and we're going,to be looking at some high-growth,shopify store examples so we can look at,some of this optimization in practike, and stik around to the end for my seo, checklist plan that you can go and, implement immediately, but first we need to tok about shopify, and seo now seo was historically one of,the compromises that store owners made, for shopify's simplicity so to make, shopify simple they removed lots of,functionality that you might get in,something like wordpress and woocommerce, but the trade-off with that was that, seos didn't have as much control over, their stores and weren't able to,implement a lot of the optimizations, that they really wanted to do now whilst,it's true that still today there are seo, limitations with shopify not least doing, things like um urls we don't have a huge, amount of control over the url structure, other than the slug at the end and, shopify has worked hard to add more seo, functionality and add more seo control, into its platform i spoke a little while, ago with kevin indic shopify's director,of seo and was really impressed with the, amount of energy that shopify is putting, into seo as a previous shopify outsider, and a member of the seo community for a,long time kevin was well aware of the, limitations that shopify had for seo and,was working with the team to get as many,of them removed as possible so whilst, today yes there are still seo, limitations overall the simplicity of,shopify and its functionality makes up,for that and we're at a point where, today we are building sites for clients,on shopify and shopify plus and not, seeing any ranking reduction as a result,of using the platform so if you're on,shopify be confident that you can have a,really well optimized high ranking high, traffic website so long as you're,following the steps in this video of,course before we can jump straight into, the optimization though we need to think, about three types of pages that we want,to get ranked on our shopify stores the, first is your home page now your home, page is typically going to be the page, that you want to get ranked for your, brand name and some really broad product, terms let's say for example that you're,selling phone cases well it might be,your home page that you're trying to get, ranked for a phrase like phone cases,it's the broadest category search, possible the next type of page that you, want to get ranked are your product, category or shopify calls them, collection pages these are the pages, that list products in a partikular, collection now these product category, pages for most ecommerce stores are the,seo gold mine because these are the, pages that you'd want to get ranked for, commercial intent product category, keywords let's say for example that,we're selling phone cases we might have, phone cases that are wooden we might, have plastik phone cases we might have, metal phone cases see-through phone, cases now anybody searching for wooden, phone cases will be best served by our, wooden phone cases category page or,collections page, and if we think about the intent behind, somebody who is just searching for the, general term phone cases versus someone, who's searching for wooden phone cases,we'll often find that the intent on the, more specific search is more commercial,i.e we're more likely to get a,conversion for someone who's searching, for a specific type of product because, they know what they want they're further, down the buyer funnel now unfortunately, for most shopify store owners their, collection pages are an seo washout that, contribute nothing to their stores so,we're going to look at some examples of,high-ranking stores and tok through the, principles that you need to adopt on,your collection pages to make sure that, they're ranking the third type of page, that you want to get ranked are the, information pages on your site now often, these will be blog pages they might be,content hub or knowledge based pages and, many ecommerce store owners don't think, about targeting informational search, intent keywords on their website but, these can be really important and can be,a great source of more traffic and sales, let's say for example that your shopify, store sells tripods and you notike that, lots of people are searching for, lightest travel tripod well this isn't,the sort of search term that is,necessarily going to be well served by a,collection or a product page this is the, sort of search term that is most likely, going to serve up informational content, results on google so for example it'll,be posts like the five lightest travel, tripods compared now if you're going to,compete for this search and you're going,to get ranking for that search you need,to recognize that it's going to take, informational content to do it because, google is viewing this as a research and, information type search so again this, isn't going to be the sort of search, term that is going to be well served by,a product or a collection page on your, shopify store what you're going to need,to do instead is write a blog post or a,knowledge-based piece or a page on your, content hub which will be about, comparing the lightest travel tripods, and of course linking each one of those, through to the product page on your, website so that people can buy the, products that you're referencing the, other type of high commercial intent, informational search will be comparison, searches so let's say for example that, people are searching uh manfrotto versus, benbow tripods well that's not something, again that's going to be served by your, product or category pages but it is the, sort of thing that you could write a,blog post about comparing the benefits,of each showing comparisons in a table, and linking people through to the, tripods that are being mentioned so,those are the three types of pages that,we want to get ranked your home page, your product collection pages and, content pages whether these are on your, blog,a content hub or a knowledge base we're,going to tok about how to optimize each, one and the tikniques that we need to,use so let's look at how to optimize, each different type and what we need to,do behind the scenes on shopify to make, sure that these pages are ranking, and the two areas we're going to look at,across these different types of pages, are content and behind the scenes, optimization let's start with these, category pages or shopify calls them, collections pages remember these are, really important pages for your shopify, stores seo because these are the pages, that you'll be targeting product, category type keywords let's look at an,example now gymshark is one of the best, seo shopify sites in my opinion they use,the shopify plus platform and they've,really well optimized it let's have a,look at a very broad search that jim, shark is ranking really well for this is,men's workout clothing we can see that, they're the top organic result now when,we click on this result we see that it's,their product category page that is,ranking for this term now you could, argue this page could actually be even, better optimized if they had a nice h1,above the fold that said something like, men's workout clothing but nevertheless,it is ranking it's a fairly standard, shopify product category or collection, page of course it does link through to,other collections as well as showing, different products in this category but,one thing that you will notike about, almost any high-ranking collection or,product ca

Quick Shopify SEO Tip to Increase Google Ranking

a big issue that Shopify stores can have, when being indexed by Google is being, flagged for duplicate content and this,is just because of how Shopify actually, structures the different pages on the, site so let me quickly explain what this, means how it looks and then I have a one, minute quick fix for you as well you, just have to put some code into your,Shopify theme but don't worry I'll show, you exactly what to do so when you, create a product with Shopify you can, have it listed in a variety of different, collections let's say you have a product, that's black boots you could have it,listed in the women's collection the, apparel collection shoes boots black, shoes shoes under fifty dollars I mean, you could create so many different, collections that this product could live,in and it would all still be relevant, the problem with that though is that, each time you put a product in a,different collection Shopify then, creates a different URL for it to,actually Link in from that collection so,let's say if that product is in five, different collections well now you have, five different links to the exact same, product page but the URLs are just a,little slight bit different based off of,that collection name this can be,problematik for Google then that sees it,as all these duplicate pages and the, product page looks the same the URL is,just a little bit different so Google, either thinks okay well they're trying,to trick the system and it's just all, this duplicate content but the biggest, issue is that Google just doesn't know, which page is the most important to show,to your viewers in the search results so,it's important to then highlight and say,Okay Google this is the collection or,the product page that I want you to,showcase,I'm not at all saying that you need to,just have one product per collection you,can put it in as many collections as you, want that are of course relevant however, you want to just make sure that you let,Google know which product URL you want,to actually have be your main one so,whenever people are linking to your site, and you're kind of building up that link, juice for all of your search engine, optimization efforts you have an exact,URL that is being focused on and it's,going to be promoted more so to do this,we need to add just a small line of code, into your Shopify theme to again, highlight which one Google should be,prioritizing so it doesn't get rid of,any of the other URLs that you're,linking in through different collections, however it's just going to Showcase this,is the one to prioritize so to add this,in first you're going to need to go to,your Shopify back-end under online store, and themes make sure you're on your, current published live theme and then, click edit code once you're in this,back-end area be careful you don't want,to mess anything up here but you can see,on the left hand side you have a layouts, section and you want to click on theme, dot liquid there, then at the top of the site within the, head tags you're going to add this, little bit of code so I'm going to put,it on the screen right here because I,don't want to say it wrong and then mess, everybody up I'll also have it listed in,the description below or below this, video so you can actually copy that and, paste it in or just pause this video and, type it in yourself but this code is,then going to just prioritize your, product page individually and get rid of,the other bits of the collection that, could be added into your url so you're,showcasing the main product page as the, priority, and that's it you're done you've got, that code added in make sure you hit, save and again you're careful over there, and you don't mess with anything else, also just make sure that anytime you're,either removing a product or a,collection from your online store that, you're actually redirecting the URL so,that way you don't have any broken links,on your site and if you've pinned, something on Pinterest and now that, product is removed you're actually, linking that URL to another product or,another area of your site so it doesn't,just have the viewer drop off and to do,that you're going to go to online store, and navigation and then you'll see it,view URL redirects there, here you'll just type in where you're,redirecting from so that old URL that, you're now removing that product or,collection or page and then the new URL,as well, now this is just one piece of an overall, strategy for SEO for on-site,optimization for your Shopify store I go,into more detail in how to optimize your, site for the search engines based off of,keywords in this video over here so if,you're looking to do more SEO for your,Shopify store and you're wanting to get, ranked on page one of Google which I,mean come on don't we all then make sure,to check that video out

Ultimate Shopify SEO Guide For Beginners

hey guys if you're new to shopify and, you're looking how to optimize for, search engine optimization in this video,i'm going to break down the ultimate, guide for a beginner starting out on,shopify going through every single item, that you're going to need to do in order,to optimize for google search,[Music],so quickly i just want to run through, some of the items that we're going to be,covering and if you're not so beginner, use the timestamps in the description, below to skip ahead to get you to where, you need to be to figure out how to rank,on google now for people who don't know,we're going to break down the list right, now so let's get into it the first step,we're going to be going over are free, tools that you absolutely need the, second is going to be site structure and, user experience to help with the flow of,how people are interacting with your, website third is going to be keywords, and keyword research and how to find the, keywords that are going to drive people,to end up purchasing from your shopify, store next is going to be slug, optimization which is,dot com forward slash x y and z that's,the slug we're gonna go over optimizing, that for both google bots as well as,user experience image optimization is,gonna be next image alt text which is,annoying and we don't know how effective,it really is but it helps it's one of,those things that google says this is,important we don't know how important, but we do it anyways next is going to be,product page optimization followed by,schema markup content marketing, link building and our favorite shopify, seo apps so let's hop into the video, starting out with your free tools so,these ones are basic and again beginner, video trying to help you guys out google, search console google analytiks so,google search console obviously is going,to provide you with an immense amount of,information about your ecommerce store, which pages are most interacted with, from the organic search your click to,rates your impressions your clicks and, your average positioning,it's necessary let's get to the next one, google analytiks, now just recently it was released that, google analytiks or universal analytiks,is actually going to be,gone in july 2023 so you might have ua,analytiks set up right now but know that, come this time next year they're going,to start phasing out universal analytiks, and should,in switching to google analytiks 4 also, known as ga4 so,use universal analytiks now but you, should also install ga4 so that you, don't have to worry about this next year,in july 2023 so let's get into the meat, and potato of things to kick things off,we're discussing site structure so the, reason for site structure in ux is super, important because at the end of the day, google is trying to show their users the, best recommended web pages based on,their searches and so if you have a,clunky ux site structure well then, people are going to have difficulty, navigating it and then google's not, going to ever rank these pages this, means that you need to have a simple, navigation system to go through the, hierarchy of your website and so with, that you want to make sure that your, site has clean menu options that things, are separated specifically by either, collections pages or product pages for, example if you're a one product shop, then you do not need this immense, collection page hierarchy you can just, run home, product a product beef maybe if you have, two products, about us contact blog or news and there, you are it's simple to the point so that, the user is able to go oh this is what,i'm trying to buy it's right there for,you stores that maybe drop shippers or,have multiple products you want to make, sure that your ux your site structure is,in a way, that people can navigate maybe you sell, clothing but you sell men's clothing, women's clothing and baby clothing you, want to make sure that your men's,t-shirts pants socks is organized in a,manner that people can navigate based on,what they are currently looking to,purchase so for when it comes to,planning out your store or maybe, revising the site structure there's a,website called glue maps g-l-o-o-m-a-p-s,dot com i'll leave a link in the, description below it's a free tool that, essentially allows you to structure the, hierarchy of your ecommerce store your, shopify store so you can map it out to,better understand how people are going,to get from here to here and how it's,going to be organized for google bots, again click the link down below it's,free it's a really cool tool name, everything it's great i highly recommend,it so let's get into a little bit more, about the navigation aspect specifically, about your header menu not so much the, footer kind of default for shopify, stores but the header is very important,so you want to make sure when you're,going through and you're building out, your menu you want to have limited, options for two reasons one is for the,ux the user experience if you have,17 different options on your menu and,it's doubled up it's so confusing highly, don't recommend that so you want to give, your potential customers limited options,to go to exactly where they were trying,to go to in order to purchase directly, from you you need to make sure that it's,just the essentials so again multiple, stores men's women's kids, single product home product about us,blog contact keep things simple we don't,need to over complicate everything here,so to keep in mind with your design, generally if i am a guy i'm going to,continue searching for men's products, meaning my collections pages in my main, menu needs to say men, with a mega menu that drops down that, says t-shirts long sleeves sweatshirts, shoes socks, everything is condensed to what i am,looking for on the female side of things, you have the same exact approach so,again everything is being displayed,in accordance to what your customers are, looking for the menu bar should be clear, and concise although your products might, have some crazy fun names and your brand, might be a certain aspect at the end of,the day, people know what they're looking for if,i'm looking for a backpack it better not,be labeled, something other than backpack if i am,looking for watch bands for my apple, watch it should be,apple watch bands,if i'm looking for black socks or white, socks they should be,labeled in accordance to what i am,currently seeking which is what you're,trying to rank on google for you need to,plan out these pages your products your, collections pages and your menu links to,be in accordance to what people are, searching for in regards to how they get,to your website so the collections pages, let's get into that a little bit and the, collections pages are very default,in terms of the slug that shopify sets,up for your store but you do have the, ability to name these collection pages, again in accordance to what people are, seeking on your website and these, collection pages are going to be vital,in terms of the google search engine, results page, because it is a compilation of all the, products that you sell within this, category again giving the user, countless options once they get there i,cannot reiterate this enough your, collections pages are, highly important,so structuring them out,not over complicating things and not, condensing everything into two, collections pages but to spread them out,in accordance to what your products are,for example i walk into the local tj,maxx i go to the activewear i know that, within that section there's gym shorts, and t-shirts and that is exactly what,i'm looking for when i walk into that tj,maxx so to think about that in the same, manner on how your customers are getting,to your e-commerce or shopify store it's,the same approach you need to,categorically section out your different, products, within your collections pages and then, those categories of your collections go,into your menu so you're starting to see,how these keywords the collections pages, your menus the ux,all interact with your customer and, ensuring that they have the best, possible online experience at your store,

each of these tips we're going to go,over what they are but some of them will, show you how to do them as well and for,a lot of these tips the best way is,simply going to be used an app on the,Shopify App Store so we'll also go over, the top apps at the end of this video so,you can start to implement some of these,SEO tips and hacks here the first ones, can be really simple you just want a,custom domain for your Shopify store you, don't want the my shopify.com domain, names this is going to give your brand a,lot more Authority and people will be,more likely to click on your custom, domain you can buy them through Shopify,or there's a ton of other providers here,it's only around 15 a year so it's,definitely worth it there the next One's,Gonna Be Your meta description so it's,gonna be your title tag and your meta, description tags on your website so this,is simply going to be how your Shopify, store is going to appear in the Google, search and so if you want to change it,here just log into your Shopify store go,in the left hand side hit preferences, here then right here is going to be your, title and meta description and you, should be ideally writing this yourself, and targeting specific keywords giving a,good description of your store and when,it sells the next one's going to be,repairing broken links so these are four,or four errors 505 errors so I go to,this test Shopify store here enter in a,URL that is not valid you'll hit 404,page not found now customers may be,going to these links because some of,your links have changed and you haven't,updated where that link was posted so,you can get these errors and these look, bad to Google here as it shows your, website isn't updated properly this can, hurt your SEO rankings in turn and so,we'll go through some apps at the end, here as they make it really easy to find, these links and tell you if customers, are actually clicking on them that can, make it really easy to diagnose and then, repair these broken links here next I'm,going to be all tags so if you're not, sure what all tags are they're gonna be,the caption for your image that Google,is going to read to help categorize that, image all takes are also shown if that, image can't load properly maybe they're,on low cellular service or something, like that and it can load the alt tag, instead so by going to a product here,I'm just going to insert an image so you,can see how to edit the alt tags insert, this image here and right here is going,to be the image alt text so these all, tags are going to make images more, accessible to everyone you're also going,to be shown for people with visual, impairments here making it much easier, for everyone to comprehend what that, image is about especially because many, images are very relevant to what's being, discussed so it's important that, everyone understands what the image is,and so you can just write beach at the, sunset with Surfers or something like, that you simply want to describe the, image here and then once you insert that, you're going to have an ALT tag created, for your image so overall it's quite, easy to add your product images there, are going to be Shopify apps here that, are also going to make it really easy to,add all tags or possibly add them in,bulk automatikally so you don't have to,individually go to Every product image, and manually add it all tag there the, next one is going to be optimizing URLs,you want to keep URLs short and sweet, including your target keyword and avoid, unnecessary words like and or the ETC so,if you're in a Shopify product that's,going to be the same one black shorts, you scroll to the bottom you can click, edit on search engine listing and, there's going your page title your meta, description as well as your are handled,so you can optimize what that is going,to say there so this is going to,automatikally pull from the product, title so if you have some products, generating a lot of clicks organically, what you can do is optimize this URL,handle so it's easier to read this is,relevant because in search rankings here, the URL is going to show up it's going,to help give the customer contacts on,what they're about to click on key here,if you can optimize what it's going to,say the next one's going to be targeted, product description so when you're,running a product description this is a,really great opportunity not only to,convince the customer that this product,is the correct one to purchase but it's,also going to tell Google what this, product is about and within that you can,do keyword targeting so if you're not, sure keyword targeting is is that if you, know there's a specific keyword that you, want to rank for in Google you can write, your descriptions to help that product, rank for that keyword there are plenty,of tools out there to do keyword, targeting the street tools such as using,Google's Keyword Planner it's going to,give you an idea of the search volume, for certain keywords so you can make, sure you're targeting keywords that you,can actually rank for and then actually, have search volume so if you're adding a,product description on your Nike shoes, you let's say you're selling you can, maybe optimize those keywords for Nike, shoes maybe it could be Nike High Tops,Nike Air Force Ones something along, those lines if a customer searches for, that product your product description is,going to be optimized to help rank for,it the next one's gonna be internal, links so internal linking is going to,help Google understand what your site or,how your site is navigated you can link,to other parts of your website within, your website so let's say you're a blog, post you can link to specific products, that are relevant you can link to your, about page this is going to be on top of,the navigation menu setup in your,Shopify store so if you go to your, products here I'm going to scroll down,to the online store hit blog posts click,on an old blog post I did hear there's,just a random blog post let's say I want,to add a link to a product I can insert,a link quite easily highlight the text, scroll up to insert link here click on,that and then I can link to different, parts of my website making it really, easy to link link these items within, your Shopify store next let's take a,look at product reviews and these are, going to be amazing for SEO they're,gonna have higher CTR for your links to,your click-through rate and they're,going to show that your content is real, and that customers enjoy it they like
