What are collections? || Shopify Help Center

Make it easier for customers to find products by grouping your products into collections. Collections help customers browse the product categories that they’re interested in without having to look through multiple pages of products to find what they want. Here’s some examples of collections I created for AlyAthletiks. I’m going to give you a complete overview on what collections are and why you should use them in your online store. To skip ahead and learn how to create collections step-by-step. watch the playlist linked above. There are two types of collections you can create - automated and manual. An automated collection uses conditions to automatikally include matching products. You can add one or more conditions for an automated collection to match products based on many details, including product title or type tags, price or even inventory stok. When you add a new product that matches the conditions you created, the product is automatikally added to the collection. I created an automated collection called “Workout clothes” that has a condition to include every product with the tag “Clothing”. Products in this collection range from t-shirts to yoga pants and even sweaters. Automated collections are ideal for businesses with a large inventory that regularly rotates. A manual collection includes the specific products that you choose. A manual collection will always contain the same products, unless you add or remove them. Manual collections do take more work to maintain, But they might be right for your business if you have a small selection of products or if you create specialized collections that you want to personally curate. A manual collection is also ideal if you plan to have a one-time flash sale with just a few products. You can include products that are on sale or even set up a discount just for the products in that collection. After you create collections, you need to add them to your store’s navigation, since this isn’t done automatikally. Here’s an example of how you can display your collections in the navigation bar - keep in mind the navigation bar looks different depending on the theme that you use. Here you see the collection “Workout Clothes”. This is a top-level item. Top-level menu items are items that appear in the main menu of your store with links appearing underneath as a drop-down menu Under “Workout clothes”. I created a drop-down menu to easily find other collections that fit under this category - like t-shirts, yoga pants and sweaters. Notike how easy it is to find what you’re looking for when everything is properly organized. After a customer clicks the collection link, they’re taken to a new page where all of the products in the collection are displayed. how to add product categories in shopify. hey guys, welcome back to the youtube channel. in this video, i'm going to be showing you how you can add your product categories on shopify, so let's get into it now. the first thing that you might be wondering is: i have logged onto my shopify store. i'm editing the online store. how do i add categories? well, you don't add product categories from the online store editor. you're gonna do that before you actually go into editing your store. so just log on to your shopify store. this is going to be your homepage, and now what you're going to do is you're going to click on online store over here. once you click on that, you're going to click on navigation, and once you click on navigation, you're going to click on add menu. so, or you can just click on main menu over here and from your main menu, what you're going to do this is your product catalog. so to add categories and subcategories, you're going to click on add menu item. you're going to write, let's say, bose, and then what you're going to do is you're going to click on add and then you're going to add a page over here. so we're going to later on add those pages. but what you're going to do is you're going to drag this over here, drag it above, and if you move it to the right over here, this is going to be created as a sub page. so you can see, over here in our catalog we have the sub page of bose. now, after that you can keep on adding more sub pages. and another thing that you can do is click on add menu item. you can write small bows and click on add. over here we're just going to add the home page and then what you can do is you can move this to the right as well. and now bose has one category as well which is called small bows. so this has its own categories and these categories have their own subcategories. and let's say you add large bows and you're going to click on add and then you have these two subcategories now. after that you can just click on add menu item. let's say we have t-shirts, we're going to add that other subcategory and you're just going to click on save and you're going to add that. so these are two basic subcategories in the catalog section- the bose and the t-shirt- and then the bose has two other subcategories. now how to actually go on about to that page. now, after you have added those categories, you're going to click on view online store and you're going to begin editing your online store so you can see over here, this is your online store. you're going to click on edit home page and what you're going to do basically is, once you go on to your home page, you're going to go and you're going to go into your pages. so you're going to click on catalog over here and what you're going to do is you're going to create the pages that you just named over here on your menu item. so we're going to go back into our little editor and what you're going to do is, in the collection section, you're going to add your pages so you can click on over here, click on the collection section and you can see these uh categories are going to be loaded up over here and you're just going to add the pages. so we're going to go back and then we're gonna go into collections, create a template and you're just going to click on add collection and the collection is going to be close. create template. and now in the collections, i have added the bose collection so you can see over here, this collection has been added. now, once you add collections over here, what you can do is go back into your shopify dashboard, go into your product section and then you can see over here, this is an item and what you're going to do is you're going to add the collection for this item. so my product is currently looking like, and what i'm going to do is, if i take a look over here, that i have assigned to collections 0 collections. so in the bow section, what you're going to do is, from your bose, you have your little item over here and what you're going to do is you're just going to go back into your product and then you're going to have a type and product organization and you can see all of these custom fields that we have over here, and you're going to click on browse all or, if you can't find the collection that you created, just add custom type. you can add both and you're just going to make sure that this is added, all of the variants and options. you're going to click on save and now, once you have added all of that, what you're going to do is create the pages. so for that you're going to go back into your dashboard, you're going to click on the online store and then you're going to click on pages over here and once you do that, you're going to click on add page and now i'm going to add the page called bose and then you can click on save over here. and then what you're going to do is, once i've added the bose page, i'm going to go back into my navigation, i'm going to click on main menu and i'm going to click on the catalog. i'm going to add the main menu- those. i forgot to save it previously, but now i'm going to link it to the bose page. so let's say, this is just the bose page, so i'm going to click on add over here and now i'm going to move this up and make it a sub page of catalog, just like that, and now i'm just going to save it over here. and once you have done all of these steps, you're just going to view your online store. this is like a very blank online store. this is just a sample for you to better understand how to do it on your own. but if i click on catalog, i have the subcategory of bose and if i click on bose over here, i have the bose page. this page is called bose and obviously i haven't added any products, but once i add products then i can view them over here. so if i go into my products and if you take a look at your product, what you can do is you can click on over here in your collection section. you can see over here. i've added it to the home page, but what you can do is add more pages as well. so if i go onto the bose collection, you can add that over here as well and you can, you know, add as many variants you want, as many uh options you want of your product. now, just like that, you have your product categories and subcategories in shopify. you can add as many as you want, but i would recommend that you don't go overboard with creating your product categories and subcategories, because if you do, you know it might make your navigation panel a bit too confusing and a bit irritating. but you can add, like all the basic categories that you want, and you can add different active and draft statuses on your product as well. so that is how simple and easy it is for you to create your product categories. so, although shopify is a great ecommerce storefront creator and you can create a beautiful ecommerce storefront and create different product categories and customize your shopify store as much as you like. it is not available for free. so shopify starts at 29 per month, where you can add two staff members in four locations and you have to pay two percent of transactional fees for all payment providers and you have a currency conversion fee of two percent as well and you have all of the basic things that are available on any other e-commerce platform. now the shopify plan, which starts at 49 per month, has up to five staff members, five locations for analysis and professional reports. so that is one of their more pay and like one of the more premium versions, and they only have a transactional fee of one percent. so that is with every shopify version, the higher paid version that you opt for on shopify, the lower transactional fees you have to pay, although you have to pay the same currency conversion free on all three versions. now, on your advanced shopify plan, you have up to 15 staff members, eight locations, fraud analysis reporting, advanced report builders, international pricing and duties and import taxes as well. so that is another plan that you can opt for if you're looking for a higher-end version of shopify. i think for most people, using the basic version and adding your own code and cus.

Shopify Collections Tutorial | Create Collections In Shopify Step By Step 2022

what's up, guys? is it Jake? and in this video I'm going to be showing you how you can set up different collections inside of Shopify. so we're going to go ahead and jump right into it. so we're inside of a demo store right here and I've just got some random assortment of products right here, and I'm gonna go ahead and show you how you can go ahead and create collections, to go ahead and organize different products together, so if you don't know what collections are, you can access it right here by going to products and then collections, and a collection is just essentially a group of related products that helps make the browsing process a lot easier for your customers. so I'm going to go ahead and create three different collections in this video and I'm going to use three different methods of creating these collections. that way, you guys will learn how you can create a collection in each different manner. so, first off, we're gonna go ahead and get started. so I'm gonna be creating a collection for gaming- so these two products right here- and I'm gonna be creating a collection for phone accessories- so this one right here and this one right here- and then I'm going to be creating a collection for gym stuff- so these two right here, and then, lastly, I'm gonna be showing you how you can showcase these collections on the home page inside your theme editor. so the first thing that you're gonna want to do is just make sure you know which products want you want to go ahead and group together into a collection, and once you've done that, we can go ahead and go over here to products and collections and get started. so once we're in here, most of the time you're gonna have a default home page collection, but we're gonna go ahead and create a new one. so we're gonna go up here to create collections and once this loads in, we can see that we have a few options available right here. so the first one I'm gonna go ahead and create is the gaming collection. so I'm gonna just go ahead and put gaming right there and then here we can go ahead and put a description if you want. however, you don't really have to put a description. we can just put a title and we can put a collection image here as well. so if you have an image, if, let's say, you're trying to make a page for that collection alone and you want an image on top of that page, it's like a banner or something. this is where you could put it, but for this tutorial I'm not going to do that. I'm going to just show you how to set up the basic collections. so down here we can see that we have to select collection type. so there's a couple different options we can do to set up the collection type. so the first option we're going to do is going to be automated and it's going to be based off of one of these conditions down here. so we can see that we can have two types. we can either do it manually, where we can add products to the collection one at a time, or we can make it automated, where existing and future products that we add to the kids to the store, if they match these specific conditions, then they're automatikally going to be added to the collection. so the first example I'm going to show you we're gonna do automated. so, like I said, we're going to be doing the gaming products first. so for this first condition, what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and open up the different conditions and I'm going to select a product title and then you can see we can make the product title equal or we can make it start with or ends with or contains. so there's a lot of different options we can do so. in this case I'm going to do the product title contains and then the word gaming. and if I go ahead and do that and then come down here and click Save, we'll see that this collection will go ahead and auto populate here. so we can see right here the products in this collection are updated. so I'm gonna go ahead and wait a second and refresh this just to show you how it's going to automatikally populate. so we went ahead and refresh it and you can see that now the two products that we have in our store- the game and headset in the gaming laptop of one ahead and automatikally populated inside of here as well. and let's say we were to add a new product that had the word gaming in the title, it would also be automatikally added to this collection as well. so this is one way you can create a collection and it's pretty useful. so the next thing I'm going to do is show you another automatik way that you can add products to a collection. so what we're going to do now is I'm going to click create another collection and we're going to go ahead and do the iPhone accessories this time, and in this case I'm going to do a product tag is equal to, and for this to go ahead and work, we're going to have to create product tags on these specific products that we want. so what I'm going to do here is I'm going to go to all products, I'm going to right click and open this in a new tab real quick, and what I'm gonna do is I'm going to go to these products, will open up the iPhone case first and I'm going to check its tags so we can see we can add product tags right here. so if I were to just put in iPhone and then just click Add, we can see that now this has a tag for iPhone, and then I'll just go ahead and click Save and I'm going to go ahead and go back to products, and now I'm going to go down to the shatterproof screen cover and I'm going to give it the same tag and that I'm gonna go ahead and click Save. all right, so now that we've went ahead and created those product tags, I'm gonna come down here and I'm gonna go into, just go ahead and type in the product tag that we just created, which was iPhone, and then we just go ahead and click Save, so we have product tag is equal to and then the tag of the products we want. we're going to click Save and now this collection is going to be created. so I went ahead and refresh the list. it normally takes about 30 seconds and you can see that now this collection is also auto populated with the two iPhone accessories we have here and, just like in the first example, if we go ahead and add another new product with the tag of iPhone, it's going to go ahead and auto populate into this collection right here. so I'm going to go ahead and create one more collection and we're going to add the products manually this time something. go ahead and create another collection and just in gym, and then in this case we can just go ahead and click manual and then we'll click Save right here and we're going to be able to add the products in in a second. so what we can do now is, right here, on their products. we can go ahead and search for products in our store so we can go ahead and add the drawstring bag, go ahead and add that, or we can just click browse and browse all of our products right here, and I would go ahead and add this other product to it as well. and there we go. we can go ahead and do that and once you add the products, it automatikally updates. you don't want to click Save and you can see that now we have went ahead and populated this collection manually. now the only downside of doing it manually is that if you add new products, new related products, they're not going to be automatikally added into this collections, that you're gonna have to go ahead and manually add them in, which is why normally, using the automated methods based off of keywords or tags is going to be a way to go. so now that you know how to create collections, I'm going to quickly show you how you can add them to your home page. so if we go over here to online store and click on themes, we can come over here to customize the theme and you can see that most Shopify home pages are going to have a feature collection right here. so we can see the featured collection section right here. if we click on it, we can go ahead and click Change collection. so if I click Change- and let's say I wanted to change it to the gaming- and then I click select, we can now see that my feature collection is now the gaming collection. now, let's say, I wanted to add a compl.

Shopify OS 2.0 - How To Create a Page of Collections

what's up guys? i'm paul, and welcome to the ecommerce gold youtube channel. so shopify recently released their os 2.0, which includes a new selection of themes and theme customization options. and with this new theme customizer comes a new way of creating pages for collections, and it is so much better and so much easier to do than the old way of doing it. so in this video i'm going to go through and show you exactly how to do it so you can go and set this up on your new store if you're using a shopify os 2.0 theme. so let's get started. so, as i said, in the new os 2.0 it's so much easier to create a page of collections and we're going to show you a few different options you can do. the first one is if you want to create a page listing all of your collections. this is super easy to do. all you do is go into navigation, click on your main navigation menu and what we're going to do is going to add a new item to the menu. click under the link options, click on collections, all collections. you can change them title if you want to, but i'm just going to stik with all collections. click on add, click save menu and then, if we go to the front end of our store, refresh this, you'll see all collections comes up in the main menu. click on that and it shows you all of your collections. super simple if you want to do all of your collections. but what if you just want to show a few collections? well, there's a new way of doing it and it is absolutely brilliant. i'm really liking it. so if you go back into our online store, click on customize, it'll bring up the new theme customizer and what we're going to do is we're going to click on the drop down menu at the top, we're going to click on pages and we're going to create a new template now for this. i'm going to call this watches, because, well, everything's dual related on this channel, and we're going to base this on the default page. so we're going to create that template and you'll see we have a new template we can work from and with the new os 2.0, you can add sections to individual pages, and this is where it just becomes so much easier. so what we're going to do is going to click add section and we're going to choose the collection list and you'll see you can manually choose the collections you want. so for this. i'm going to go through and select all my watch collections. so we're going to select collection. i'm going to go for automatik watches. for that one, click on select, go back. number two: i'm going to choose digital watches. for that one select. and finally, we're going to choose our quartz watches and click on select, go back. there you go. we've done that. if you want to remove the header, what you can do is just click on that and delete that and it will hide that header for you. if you want to remove the men's header at the top, just click on the hide option there and that will remove that one for you. depends if you want the header on the page or not. but once you're happy with the collections you've selected, click on save and it's created a template for this page. then, if we go back into our shopify dashboard, go into pages, we're going to create a new page. so click on add page and we're just going to call this watches. and then, when you're choosing a template for this page, you'll see we've got the theme template. if you click on the drop down menu, you'll see watches is available. so if you click on that, click save. we've now created that page for watches. we just need to add it to our navigation menu. so if you go into main menu, add an item under the link options, we're going to search under pages and you'll see that watches has now become available. click on that, add and then save this menu. if we go back into the front end of our site, refresh it. you'll see that watches has come available and if we click on that, we can see all of our collections that are available on the watches. so if you click on automatik watches, you can see the products that are available in there. really easy to do this, much easier than it used to be, with having to copy and paste the code over. so much easier to do. and you can also duplicate this template as well, so you can use it for different collections, and i'll show you how to do that. so if you go into our online store again, click on customize. what we're going to do is click on the drop down menu. go into pages. we're going to create a template, but we're going to base this one on the watches page that we just created and i'm going to do this one for signet rings. as you can see, everything's dual related when i do these demos because i've been in the dual trade for many, many years. so you're going to create a template for this one and, as you can see, it's based off the old template. so what we're going to do is going to go in and we're going to change these collections. i'm going to change them to the ring ones. so we're going to go for gold signet rings- select that one, change this one to stone set signet rings and the final one is going to be silver signet rings- select. save that one. then we're going to go back into our dashboard and basically going to repeat the process. um, what we're going to do is going to create a new page. we're going to call this one signet rings and we're going to choose the default template and, as you can see, signet rings has now become available. click on that option and click on save, and then all you've got to do is add that to the navigation menu. now what you may need to do when you come into this is you may need to refresh it, because it takes a little bit of time for that page to actually become available when you're choosing the item in your menu. i'll see if it happens now. so, if you're going to main menu, click on add menu item pages, signet rings has become available, but sometimes it's there's a little bit of a delay. if you try and do it too quickly it might not appear, so you might have to refresh things. but if we just click on signet rings, click add and then save that menu, go back into the front end of our site, refresh it and if we click on signet rings, you can see all the signet ring collections become available and say: it's so much easier to do this now with the new templates. they are just so much easier to use. but what if you actually want to add a page in front of these? well, this is where you need to do a little bit of a workaround because, as we know, with shopify, it doesn't allow you to create sub collections. you kind of have to do workarounds. unfortunately, with the new ios 2.0, there is a workaround to be able to do this. so what i want to do is i want to create a page where i'm going to be able to link to the watches page and the signet rings page. i'm going to show you exactly how to do that. so if we go back into the main menu, go into the online store and click on customize. what we're going to do is we're going to create a new template and to do that we're going to click on the menu again and we're going to create a new template for the pages. for this one. i want to do this off the default page because we're going to be using a different block, so we're going to call this accessories. i really hope i've spelt that one. right click on create template and it'll bring up a new template. and what we're going to do with this one. the section we're actually going to use- is the multi-column section. so if we click on multi-column, you can see it adds multiple columns. it's pretty self-explanatory, to be honest, but it is a really good option to create a page to link to the collection pages, if that makes sense. now you'll notike that it brings up a button. if you want to get rid of this, click on multi column and where it says button label, just select that and delete it and it will remove that option. basically, with anything in the new os 2.0, if you don't want it to display, just leave the option blank and it just won't display on the front end of your site. so what we're going to do is we're going to go in and we're going to edit these columns. what we're going to do is going to select an image. i'm going to put signet rings first. click on th.

How to create a manual collection || Shopify Help Center

A manual collection organizes your products into groups while also giving you complete control over what products are included in it. Manual collections are especially useful if you have a small variety of products or if your product line doesn’t change that often. Keep watching to learn everything you need to know about creating manual collections. To create a manual collection, start from your Shopify admin and click “Products”, Then click “Collections” and then “Create collection”. Start by giving the new collection a title. Adding a description is optional and is only visible if your theme has an option to show it. But you might want to create a description anyways, using keywords for SEO purposes. Now select “Manual” as the collection type. Next, if you click “Edit website SEO”, you can make changes to the collection’s search engine listing. By default, search engines use the information from the collection’s title and description, But I’m not going to make any changes to this section today. Then decide where you want this collection to be visible by using the “Collection Availability” card. Deselect the checkboxes for the channels you want to exclude. If you want to link the collection in your navigation menu, then you need to keep “Online store” selected. If you want to schedule this collection to be published at a future date, then click ”Schedule Availability” and select another date. Keep in mind that you can only add a collection to your navigation menu after it’s been published. If you’d like, you can add an image to represent this collection, But just remember that adding an image is optional and will only be visible if your theme has anoption to show it. If you choose to add an image, be sure to also add ALT text for the image by clicking “Edit”, then “Edit image alt text”. Alt text serves a couple different purposes. If a media item can't load for any reason, then alt text is shown instead. It's also used by assistive tiknology to describe an image to a customer who's visually impaired. Alt text can also boost your SEO, making it easier for customers to find your products. Keep your alt text brief and descriptive. The maximum length is 512 characters, but 125 or less is recommended. Here I’ll write “Woman in child's pose wearing black yoga pants and a grey tank top on a pink yoga mat”. Now you’re ready to click “Save”. The page is updated to show a “Products” section To add products to the collection. click “Browse” to see your inventory. Scroll through to select items by clicking the checkboxes beside them. You can also type a product title in the search bar to add an item. Then click “Add” to finish. To arrange the products, choose an option from the “Sort” dropdown menu. If you choose to manually sort, then drag and drop the products in the order you want them to appear. To finish, you need to link the new collection in the store’s navigation bar so customers can find it - this is not done automatikally. Click “Update your menu” or click “Online Store”, then “Navigation”, Click “Main Menu” and then click “Add menu item”. Enter a name to match the collection, Then in the “Link” field select “Collections” and then find the collection you just created. Click “Add”. Click the six-dot icon beside the new menu item and drag it where you’d like it to appear. If you want to create a dropdown menu, drag and drop it under another menu item to nest it. When you’re done, click “Save” To preview everything. click the eye icon next to “Online store” to open a new browser tab. Here you can see how the new collection looks in the dropdown menu we created. You can also open the collection to confirm everything is in working order. How To Add Product Categories In Shopify | Dropshipping 2022

hello everyone and welcome back to our Channel. today we are going to tok about how to add product categories in Shopify. in this video, we will demonstrate all the steps to add product categories in Shopify, how to create Pages for each category and how to link them with product categories. so watch this video till the end to better understand all these steps. to use Shopify, you need an account on it. if you have a Shopify account already, click on the login button on the top right corner, or else click on the start free trial button to create a Shopify account. after successfully logging in or signing up, you will be redirected to your dashboard. now we are going to demonstrate how you can add product categories in your Shopify store. let's first see the current view of our Shopify store. click on the online store tab in the left sidebar and on the online store page, click on the view your store button on the top right side. your online store will open in a new window and here is a look of it. you can see that there are three menus in the top navigation bar, which are home, catalog and contact. we are going to add our product categories menu along with these menus in this top navigation bar. so let's get started. click on the navigation tab under the online stores section in the left sidebar. here you can see that there are two types of menus that are already added to our Shopify store. one is the footer menu, which has only the search item, and the second is the main menu, which has three items, which are home, catalog and contact. there are two ways to proceed further. either you can create a new menu with your product categories or you can add the product categories section in the main menu section. but we recommend that you add your product categories in the main menu section, because if you create a new menu, then you need to replace it with the current main menu and then important Pages like home, catalog and contact will also get removed. to add a new menu item, use this add menu button, but we are going ahead with adding the product categories in the main menu. so click on the main menu button now on this page. from here you can rename this main menu and these are the items under this main menu. you can use these edit and delete buttons to make changes to the related items. to add a new menu item, click on the add menu item button at the bottom of the menu items. a pop-up window will open from the right sidebar. here enter the name of the menu item, in other words, enter the product category name. here we are entering it as product categories. now from here we have to add a page link to this category. in the given page list you will see all the pages available to your store, but we have not created a page for our category. we will do it after creating categories and we will add it later. so for now we can select any page from the list and then click on the add button at the bottom right corner. so you can see that the created product categories menu has been added to the list. now move your cursor on the left side and drag it to move it and arrange the order. we are keeping it after the catalog menu. so we have created the main menu for our navigation bar. now we have to create different categories. click again on the add menu item on the pop-up window. here enter the category name- we are entering clothing- and in the links section select any random page and then click on the add button. now clothing has been added to the menu list. we are going to drag it from the left corner and move it below the product categories, and if you move it towards the right, it will be added as a sub menu under product categories. so we have successfully created our first category. to add more categories, click on the add menu item to product categories button on the pop-up window. repeat the same steps. we are creating a category called appliances. so two product categories have been added under the product categories menu. repeat these same steps to create more categories and you can also create subcategories under any of the categories. just follow the steps that we had shown earlier and once you are done with creating all the product categories, click on the save menu button in the bottom right corner. so now the product categories have been successfully created. now the only thing left is to create separate pages for each category and add the links to their categories. to create a page for categories, click on the pages tab under your online stores section on this page. here you will see all the pages that are created for your Shopify store. to create a new page, click on the add page button on the top right side. in the title section, enter the name of your product category that you have created. we are creating a page for the clothing category. you can use this box to write a description or add the products link and then click on the save button at the bottom right corner. so our first page for clothing categories has been created successfully. we need to create separate pages for each category, to create a new page. either you can create the page from scratch, as we had created for the clothing category, or else you can use this duplicate button to make a copy of this page. we are going ahead with duplicating this page. click on the duplicate button. a pop-up window will open here. enter the second categories name- we are creating a page for appliances- and then click on the duplicate button. so in the page list here you can see the pages that we have just created. repeat the same steps of creating Pages for each category. now let's move on to adding these page links to the categories. click on the navigation tab in the left sidebar and then click on the main menu. click on the edit button next to the product category and in the pop-up window in the link section, select pages from the list and then select the created page and finally click on the apply changes button. repeat the same steps for adding page links to each product category and, once you're done, click on the save menu button at the bottom right corner. so now let's take a look at our store. click on the online store Tab and then click on view your store. here you can see that the product categories menu has been added to the menu list and if you click on it, you can see the
