00:00:00 | 00:00:03 | i'm using my mask to block out the name |
00:00:02 | 00:00:05 | of this not that it really matters but |
00:00:03 | 00:00:07 | we always get a bunch of copycats |
00:00:05 | 00:00:08 | here's what the back end of a new |
00:00:07 | 00:00:09 | ecommerce store looks like this one's on |
00:00:08 | 00:00:12 | shopify |
00:00:09 | 00:00:13 | just hit 40 orders doing all right as |
00:00:12 | 00:00:15 | you can see |
00:00:13 | 00:00:17 | decent looking aovs and stuff over there |
00:00:15 | 00:00:19 | but uh it's been a while |
00:00:17 | 00:00:21 | since i've started something brand new |
00:00:19 | 00:00:22 | so super excited for it just using it as |
00:00:21 | 00:00:24 | a case study inside of one of our |
00:00:22 | 00:00:25 | training programs so |
00:00:24 | 00:00:27 | that is going to be super fun but |
00:00:25 | 00:00:29 | anyways i've been in a super good flow |
00:00:27 | 00:00:30 | state for like the last couple months |
00:00:29 | 00:00:31 | which is great |
00:00:30 | 00:00:33 | just focus just dial you know you're |
00:00:31 | 00:00:34 | feeling good you've got those good |
00:00:33 | 00:00:37 | seasons through your life so i'm just |
00:00:34 | 00:00:38 | focused everything's dialed in and uh |
00:00:37 | 00:00:39 | i'm really enjoying it so i'm trying not |
00:00:38 | 00:00:41 | to mess that up at all but |
00:00:39 | 00:00:43 | anyways it's about 1 30 right now i've |
00:00:41 | 00:00:44 | been working for the past six hours or |
00:00:43 | 00:00:46 | so then i hit the gym |
00:00:44 | 00:00:49 | shower at eight and now i'm just gonna |
00:00:46 | 00:00:50 | go see what today will bring us |
00:00:49 | 00:00:53 | and definitely go outside that's the |
00:00:50 | 00:00:54 | goal so gonna go check it out and see |
00:00:53 | 00:00:55 | what we can't get into |
00:00:54 | 00:00:57 | for anyone who knows me personally you |
00:00:55 | 00:00:59 | know that i love |
00:00:57 | 00:01:01 | fruit i keep a lot of fresh fruits |
00:00:59 | 00:01:02 | around i think it is a very important |
00:01:01 | 00:01:05 | key |
00:01:02 | 00:01:08 | i also just got in a bunch of fresh |
00:01:05 | 00:01:10 | meats this is uh 15 pounds of ground |
00:01:08 | 00:01:12 | beef bunch of fillets |
00:01:10 | 00:01:14 | a bunch of fish couple pounds of chicken |
00:01:12 | 00:01:16 | 10 or 15 ribeyes |
00:01:14 | 00:01:17 | got a bunch of maple sausage and bacon a |
00:01:16 | 00:01:19 | bunch of different stuff from my |
00:01:17 | 00:01:20 | favorite farm in virginia i've been |
00:01:19 | 00:01:22 | ordering fresh meats from there |
00:01:20 | 00:01:24 | on and off for about three years they |
00:01:22 | 00:01:24 | like different subscription boxes and |
00:01:24 | 00:01:26 | stuff |
00:01:24 | 00:01:27 | you guys can check out the company it's |
00:01:26 | 00:01:29 | called farmer's cart i believe |
00:01:27 | 00:01:31 | uh not a paid promotion but i love good |
00:01:29 | 00:01:33 | meat love good food staying healthy |
00:01:31 | 00:01:33 | keeps your mind clear mind focused but |
00:01:33 | 00:01:35 | anyways |
00:01:33 | 00:01:37 | i'm currently packing up headed off to |
00:01:35 | 00:01:39 | the beach for a little bit |
00:01:37 | 00:01:40 | i'm gonna attempt to just relax listen |
00:01:39 | 00:01:42 | to a podcast |
00:01:40 | 00:01:43 | try and read a little bit today we have |
00:01:42 | 00:01:46 | got passive income |
00:01:43 | 00:01:49 | aggressive retirement rachel richards |
00:01:46 | 00:01:51 | a low-key beast i respect it and uh i |
00:01:49 | 00:01:52 | just try to read a little bit every once |
00:01:51 | 00:01:53 | in a while this is a pretty light book |
00:01:52 | 00:01:55 | pretty simple |
00:01:53 | 00:01:57 | easy structure i'm not a big reader |
00:01:55 | 00:01:58 | truth be told i just |
00:01:57 | 00:01:59 | it was it was something that was just |
00:01:58 | 00:02:00 | ruined for me because of school like |
00:01:59 | 00:02:02 | they'd forced you to read this book |
00:02:00 | 00:02:03 | force you to read that so |
00:02:02 | 00:02:05 | i just reject it and i'm still not a big |
00:02:03 | 00:02:06 | reader it's hard for me with like my |
00:02:05 | 00:02:08 | adhd and ocd to like |
00:02:06 | 00:02:10 | attempt to focus on something visual |
00:02:08 | 00:02:12 | like that that's not very entertaining |
00:02:10 | 00:02:14 | you know words are really boring so |
00:02:12 | 00:02:15 | i try something i like to do to relax |
00:02:14 | 00:02:16 | and just train my brain but |
00:02:15 | 00:02:18 | nonetheless heading off to the beach i |
00:02:16 | 00:02:19 | think my buddy's already down there so |
00:02:18 | 00:02:21 | i'm gonna see if i can't find him and uh |
00:02:19 | 00:02:22 | hang out for a bit |
00:02:21 | 00:02:25 | it's hot out |
00:02:25 | 00:02:31 | what's up buddy season |
00:02:29 | 00:02:33 | juice season buddy looks like he's |
00:02:31 | 00:02:36 | straight out of florida |
00:02:33 | 00:02:38 | that's my dad my dad paid for this i can |
00:02:36 | 00:02:40 | always spend some qualifications |
00:02:38 | 00:02:42 | it's all inclusive that's how i got this |
00:02:40 | 00:02:45 | apple project |

00:03:19 | 00:03:22 | by using the link in the description all |
00:03:20 | 00:03:24 | right so now that we are in the official |
00:03:22 | 00:03:26 | setup right where i got a laptop |
00:03:24 | 00:03:28 | and a microphone and hopefully it looks |
00:03:26 | 00:03:30 | and sounds good i want to explain |
00:03:28 | 00:03:32 | specifically these two points of why i'm |
00:03:30 | 00:03:34 | not a huge fan of starting new stores |
00:03:32 | 00:03:36 | it's more so just me nitpicking |
00:03:34 | 00:03:36 | specifics because of the experiences |
00:03:36 | 00:03:38 | i've had |
00:03:36 | 00:03:40 | but here are two things okay number one |
00:03:38 | 00:03:42 | getting a merchant okay |
00:03:40 | 00:03:44 | first of all a lot of people who jump |
00:03:42 | 00:03:44 | into this industry think that shopify |
00:03:44 | 00:03:47 | payments |
00:03:44 | 00:03:49 | stripe and paypal are real merchants and |
00:03:47 | 00:03:50 | that that's a processor and that's |
00:03:49 | 00:03:52 | something you could use long term |
00:03:50 | 00:03:53 | and i'll tell you this from experience i |
00:03:52 | 00:03:54 | know hundreds of people have been in |
00:03:53 | 00:03:55 | this space |
00:03:54 | 00:03:57 | i've taught more than that i only know |
00:03:55 | 00:03:59 | one person who still to this day |
00:03:57 | 00:04:00 | has done tens of millions of dollars of |
00:03:59 | 00:04:02 | sales using stripe |
00:04:00 | 00:04:04 | okay only one person out of all these |
00:04:02 | 00:04:05 | people inside the ecommerce space the |
00:04:04 | 00:04:08 | reason for that |
00:04:05 | 00:04:10 | stripe and shopify payments they're the |
00:04:08 | 00:04:11 | same thing shopify payments is powered |
00:04:10 | 00:04:12 | by stripe |
00:04:11 | 00:04:14 | they're not a real processor they're |
00:04:12 | 00:04:17 | what's known as a payment aggregator |
00:04:14 | 00:04:18 | meaning they're basically a middleman of |
00:04:17 | 00:04:20 | a middleman |
00:04:18 | 00:04:21 | so that's why your account's instantly |
00:04:20 | 00:04:23 | approved which is not what would happen |
00:04:21 | 00:04:25 | with a real merchant so |
00:04:23 | 00:04:26 | the reason why it causes issues it's |
00:04:25 | 00:04:29 | unreliable you don't have a personal |
00:04:26 | 00:04:31 | contact there you can't really get exact |
00:04:29 | 00:04:32 | estimates on stuff you don't know if |
00:04:31 | 00:04:33 | there's gonna be a random reserve |
00:04:32 | 00:04:34 | slapped on your account tonight while |
00:04:33 | 00:04:36 | you're sleeping |
00:04:34 | 00:04:38 | so it's very unpredictable and that |
00:04:36 | 00:04:39 | inconsistency is never good |
00:04:38 | 00:04:41 | okay i'll tell you that from experience |
00:04:39 | 00:04:43 | so again it's really important to get a |
00:04:41 | 00:04:44 | real merchant once you know your store |
00:04:43 | 00:04:45 | is going to be something you're running |
00:04:44 | 00:04:47 | long term |
00:04:45 | 00:04:48 | for the purpose of consistent reliable |
00:04:47 | 00:04:50 | cash flow |
00:04:48 | 00:04:52 | better rates better payouts everything |
00:04:50 | 00:04:54 | is just real and consistent okay |
00:04:52 | 00:04:56 | so it's annoying because every time you |
00:04:54 | 00:04:57 | get a real merchant they usually do a |
00:04:56 | 00:04:59 | credit pull |
00:04:57 | 00:05:01 | now even with merchants that i use where |
00:04:59 | 00:05:02 | i've opened two dozen accounts with them |
00:05:01 | 00:05:04 | they still pull |
00:05:02 | 00:05:06 | credit if there's been a decent lapse of |
00:05:04 | 00:05:08 | time since the last one i got opened |
00:05:06 | 00:05:10 | you know so it's similar to like buying |
00:05:08 | 00:05:12 | a piece of property if you're not buying |
00:05:10 | 00:05:13 | it within 90 days the next one |
00:05:12 | 00:05:14 | they're still going to pull your credit |
00:05:13 | 00:05:15 | again they just want to verify |
00:05:14 | 00:05:16 | everything again very similar with a |
00:05:15 | 00:05:17 | real |
00:05:16 | 00:05:18 | merchant and that's a good thing because |
00:05:17 | 00:05:19 | it means you're getting approved by |
00:05:18 | 00:05:21 | someone proper |
00:05:19 | 00:05:22 | okay but it gets a little bit annoying |
00:05:21 | 00:05:26 | because |
00:05:22 | 00:05:27 | i opened 16 mids one time in two weeks |
00:05:26 | 00:05:29 | each of them had a credit pull |
00:05:27 | 00:05:31 | and i was trying to scale outwards this |
00:05:29 | 00:05:33 | is when i had a team of people around me |
00:05:31 | 00:05:34 | um you know i'd rented a huge house i |
00:05:33 | 00:05:36 | had a bunch of people it kind of it |
00:05:34 | 00:05:37 | worked made some money this and that but |
00:05:36 | 00:05:39 | like anyways we launched like over 20 |
00:05:37 | 00:05:41 | stores it was all within a couple |
00:05:39 | 00:05:42 | a couple week time frame i had all these |
00:05:41 | 00:05:43 | people working running ads doing all |
00:05:42 | 00:05:45 | this stuff it was really cool i was |
00:05:43 | 00:05:46 | trying to scale outwards versus just |
00:05:45 | 00:05:47 | vertikal which is what i'd been doing |
00:05:46 | 00:05:48 | for years |
00:05:47 | 00:05:50 | i didn't really think too much about it |
00:05:48 | 00:05:51 | but the 16 different mids that each of |
00:05:50 | 00:05:52 | those hit my credit i had 16 different |
00:05:51 | 00:05:54 | inquiries |
00:05:52 | 00:05:56 | it actually really really hurt my credit |
00:05:54 | 00:05:57 | which caused it to hurt my real estate |
00:05:56 | 00:05:59 | when i was trying to buy some rental |
00:05:57 | 00:06:00 | properties because it was just a lot of |
00:05:59 | 00:06:01 | inquiries brought the credit score down |
00:06:00 | 00:06:02 | a lot |
00:06:01 | 00:06:04 | and that actually did cost me money it |
00:06:02 | 00:06:06 | cost me a couple points it cost me |
00:06:04 | 00:06:07 | probably 0.5 percent of an interest rate |
00:06:06 | 00:06:08 | on one of my properties which you know |
00:06:07 | 00:06:09 | long term you can refinance this stuff |
00:06:08 | 00:06:10 | but nonetheless |
00:06:09 | 00:06:12 | still a little bit annoying so getting a |
00:06:10 | 00:06:13 | merchant is a pain in the butt they |
00:06:12 | 00:06:16 | always want a lot of verification |
00:06:13 | 00:06:17 | a real proper merchant number two is new |
00:06:16 | 00:06:19 | ad accounts so for you facebook |
00:06:17 | 00:06:20 | advertisers google advertisers |
00:06:19 | 00:06:22 | if you're starting on facebook |
00:06:20 | 00:06:23 | specifically usually you're going to |
00:06:22 | 00:06:25 | have a 50 |
00:06:23 | 00:06:28 | a day limit then once you break through |
00:06:25 | 00:06:30 | that then it's going to be a 250 |
00:06:28 | 00:06:31 | a day and i've notiked requests get |
00:06:30 | 00:06:33 | denied more and more now so those |
00:06:31 | 00:06:34 | breakout periods to be able to break out |
00:06:33 | 00:06:36 | above a 250 |
00:06:34 | 00:06:37 | a day limit used to take five six days |
00:06:36 | 00:06:40 | now it's taking |
00:06:37 | 00:06:42 | 10 days to two weeks that's a long |
00:06:40 | 00:06:43 | period of time that gets very annoying |
00:06:42 | 00:06:45 | because you have to be hitting that |
00:06:43 | 00:06:46 | 250-day to have the potential to get it |
00:06:45 | 00:06:47 | raised faster |
00:06:46 | 00:06:49 | which means usually you're not as |
00:06:47 | 00:06:51 | optimized on your spending so |
00:06:49 | 00:06:52 | it's weird that uh you know a platform |
00:06:51 | 00:06:54 | like that that makes money |
00:06:52 | 00:06:56 | because they sell ad space will limit |
00:06:54 | 00:06:57 | how much money you can spend |
00:06:56 | 00:06:59 | but it is what it is you got to warm it |
00:06:57 | 00:06:59 | up and build that relationship with them |
00:06:59 | 00:07:00 | so |
00:06:59 | 00:07:03 | totally fine everybody has to start |
00:07:00 | 00:07:04 | somewhere you know like i don't want to |
00:07:03 | 00:07:05 | discredit people who are like oh well |
00:07:04 | 00:07:06 | then how would i get around how do i do |
00:07:05 | 00:07:07 | this look |
00:07:06 | 00:07:09 | if you don't have a seasoned business |
00:07:07 | 00:07:10 | manager if you haven't run a ton of ads |
00:07:09 | 00:07:12 | you got to do it it's just part of the |
00:07:10 | 00:07:13 | process but it is annoying |
00:07:12 | 00:07:15 | and that's one reason why i really just |
00:07:13 | 00:07:17 | try to not start as many new projects i |
00:07:15 | 00:07:18 | would rather just go super deep and |
00:07:17 | 00:07:20 | scale vertikal on things that are |
00:07:18 | 00:07:22 | already working of mine so |
00:07:20 | 00:07:24 | i've had to find that balance it's been |
00:07:22 | 00:07:25 | an interesting point but i do want to |
00:07:24 | 00:07:28 | point this out |
00:07:25 | 00:07:29 | non-diversification risk versus the pain |
00:07:28 | 00:07:32 | in the ass |
00:07:29 | 00:07:34 | of starting so for an example when i'm |
00:07:32 | 00:07:36 | trying to start all these different |
00:07:34 | 00:07:38 | things it's diversification |
00:07:36 | 00:07:40 | i went from the two things i had been |
00:07:38 | 00:07:42 | running for a long period of time to |
00:07:40 | 00:07:43 | at least 25 in a couple month period was |
00:07:42 | 00:07:45 | the total amount that we had reached |
00:07:43 | 00:07:46 | it was a lot of diversification because |
00:07:45 | 00:07:47 | each of those were toking about |
00:07:46 | 00:07:49 | multiple different ad accounts for each |
00:07:47 | 00:07:50 | all the different processors had |
00:07:49 | 00:07:51 | multiple different llcs you know |
00:07:50 | 00:07:53 | grouping them together |
00:07:51 | 00:07:54 | so it's very much so separate certain |
00:07:53 | 00:07:57 | things we were using different suppliers |
00:07:54 | 00:07:58 | so very separate very diversified but i |
00:07:57 | 00:08:00 | did it too much |
00:07:58 | 00:08:02 | and then there's the the version where |
00:08:00 | 00:08:04 | you're just not diversifying |
00:08:02 | 00:08:06 | where you're staying in one vertikal you |
00:08:04 | 00:08:08 | only have one thing one ad account one |
00:08:06 | 00:08:09 | payment processor for it |
00:08:08 | 00:08:12 | everything is one it's very specific and |
00:08:09 | 00:08:14 | if any little chain in that whole |
00:08:12 | 00:08:15 | domino effect if one falls everything |
00:08:14 | 00:08:16 | else is gonna fall right it's just that |
00:08:15 | 00:08:17 | chain reaction so |
00:08:16 | 00:08:19 | that's where it becomes a little bit of |
00:08:17 | 00:08:20 | risk now again it's a huge pain in the |
00:08:19 | 00:08:21 | ass to diversify it like that |
00:08:20 | 00:08:22 | but i've kind of found that middle |
00:08:21 | 00:08:24 | ground where i always kind of have my |
00:08:22 | 00:08:26 | two main things running and every once |
00:08:24 | 00:08:27 | in a while i'll start something new and |
00:08:26 | 00:08:27 | as you guys are seeing on the channel |
00:08:27 | 00:08:29 | right now |
00:08:27 | 00:08:30 | i'm in the middle of a case study on a |
00:08:29 | 00:08:32 | brand new store that i started was the |
00:08:30 | 00:08:33 | first brand that i've started in the |
00:08:32 | 00:08:34 | last |
00:08:33 | 00:08:35 | year which is super exciting so i'm |
00:08:34 | 00:08:36 | keeping you guys up to date doing a |
00:08:35 | 00:08:38 | couple hundred bucks a day right now |
00:08:36 | 00:08:40 | starting to profit on that so |
00:08:38 | 00:08:41 | you'll be seeing some more updates on it |
00:08:40 | 00:08:43 | on the channel for sure so make sure to |
00:08:41 | 00:08:44 | drop a like if you want to see that but |
00:08:43 | 00:08:45 | that's pretty much what i got for you in |
00:08:44 | 00:08:46 | terms of why it's really really |
00:08:45 | 00:08:48 | frustrating |
00:08:46 | 00:08:50 | and i try to stay away from starting |
00:08:48 | 00:08:53 | brand new shopify stores |
00:08:50 | 00:08:54 | all right new store right here can't |
00:08:53 | 00:08:55 | show you guys too much |
00:08:54 | 00:08:57 | on the update because it will come in a |
00:08:55 | 00:08:59 | case study video soon i'll be doing |
00:08:57 | 00:09:01 | monthly updates |
00:08:59 | 00:09:03 | you ever had a shopify store trevor uh |
00:09:01 | 00:09:05 | yeah i failed but keep buying doge |
00:09:03 | 00:09:07 | doge doge versus shopify what's a better |
00:09:05 | 00:09:08 | investment |
00:09:07 | 00:09:10 | who knows you'll have to buy that |
00:09:08 | 00:09:13 | yourself i guess we'll see |
00:09:10 | 00:09:15 | those to a thousand thousand sixty |
00:09:13 | 00:09:17 | those just dude it's not what is it at |
00:09:15 | 00:09:19 | 30 cents 33 |
00:09:17 | 00:09:21 | 33 well don't hey don't even bother |
00:09:19 | 00:09:22 | starting a shopify store it is annoying |
00:09:21 | 00:09:24 | we're going to tok more on that here |
00:09:22 | 00:09:28 | shortly but it is |
00:09:24 | 00:09:28 | 12 47. imagine like trying to flex this |
00:09:28 | 00:09:31 | like |
00:09:28 | 00:09:33 | look at the time but it's it's 111 111 |
00:09:31 | 00:09:35 | in revenue |
00:09:33 | 00:09:37 | anyways that means uh 13 minutes until |
00:09:35 | 00:09:38 | the gym so i'm off |
